# Characters.TheOwlHouseEdaClawthorne: Most witches belong to covens that restrict them to a certain type of magic, but Eda has refused to join one and has learned a wide variety of spells. Unfortunately, this is illegal in her world, so that, along with numerous counts of petty theft, has made her a criminal.

# TabletopGame.NentirVale: The Artificer or Bard fit this concept the closest by default, as they are Arcane Leaders and so good at slinging spells from a distance, healing, and clobbering foes with weapons. Some recommend hybrid/multiclassing into Swordmage (if you prefer getting into melee) or Wizard (if you prefer staying at a distance and tossing area effects around) for extra flavor.
# Characters.TheGeniusOfSappheiros: She can dish out both physical and magical damage, heal, and even protect teammates from harm.

# TabletopGame.NentirVale: The Artificer or Bard fit VideoGame.WarOfHarmony: Pinkie Pie: Using chili to deal fire magic and laughs to damage spirits.
# VideoGame.SwordsAndClaws: Doramun is modified version of
this concept trope. He has the closest by default, as they are Arcane Leaders best defense and so good at slinging spells from a distance, healing, and clobbering foes with weapons. Some recommend hybrid/multiclassing into Swordmage (if you prefer getting into melee) or Wizard (if you prefer staying at a distance and tossing area effects around) the best attack, but energy meter needs to be full for extra flavor.
him to use his attacks.
# Characters.TheGeniusOfSappheiros: She can dish out KineticAdventures: Skilled at healing and attack magic; however, he’s unable to attack while casting, also leaving him a...Squishy Wizard
# Characters.FinalFantasyIV: TheArchmage: At least by human standards. Sages are rare in the world of FFIV, so Tellah's mastery of [[TheRedMage
both forms of magic]] makes him kind of a big deal. Still, Tellah has his limits (his attempts to cure Palom and Porom with Esuna fail miserably, for starters, though this is also because they willingly turned themselves to stone), and his advanced age doesn't help matters.
# Literature.SkulduggeryPleasant: MasterOfOneMagic: Most adult mages can only do one type of magic apart from a few examples of TheRedMage mentioned below.
# AwesomeButImpractical.TurnBasedStrategyGames: ChurchMilitant: War Clerics/War Monks, which are a healing class that can also (famously) use axes to attack. Unfortunately, most units who have access to the class have much higher Magic than Strength, and anyone with War Cleric access can also promote to a [[TheRedMage Sage or Valkyrie]], which both put that Magic stat to better use with tomes. This includes both Lissa and Maribelle, the two starting units with War Cleric access. Bolt Axes can mollify this somewhat, since they scale with Magic instead of Strength and have good base stats to start with, but they're also an example of this trope since you're just using them as a tome substitute, anyway, and tomes have much more variety in effects.
# VideoGame.LightApprentice: SquishyWizard: Tlob, who initially specializes in healing and shielding, but [[TheRedMage is still capable of casting Blast at enemies]].
# Characters.FinalFantasyRecurringJobs: Trope Namer.
# VideoGame.{{Ziggurat}}: Argo and Carina the Apprentices yet again, as befitting their Jack of All Stats role.
# Fanfic.AllThingsProbableSeries: Maze, who has channeled part of the Great Bear Spirit's power into himself and also mastered the creation of golems (based on a Jewish mystical tradition) in addition to his own shadow medicine.
# VideoGame.MarvelAvengersAllianceTactics: Iron Man and Black Panther, who are the default starter characters. Both are good on their own right (Tony deals heavy damage from a distance, while T'Challa is an agile melee hero who inflicts [=DoTs),=] but unlocking other heroes will give you more options in character classes (beyond Blaster and Tactician) as well as tactical choices (e.g. Scarlet Witch, a Blaster who is more of TheRedMage, or Cyclops, a ranged Tactician who provides team buffs). Players also get a free 16 Command Point hero after reaching level 3, but must earn or buy the rest of their characters.
# Characters.Persona4TheInvestigationTeam: Provides healing magic to the party and damaging Fire magic to the enemy.
# VideoGame.TelepathRPG: The protagonist, although they lean more towards offense than defense.
# VideoGame.WorldsEnd: Oksana has excellent damage and healing options with her magic, and has very solid HP and some
physical attacks to boot.
# Characters.PersonaDisappearingDreams: His Persona has a mix of damaging spells, healing spells,
and buffs.
# Manga.CrimsonSpell: Halvir is TheRedMage, using elemental combat magic and Healing Hands most prominently, but also displaying an aptitude for alchemy, scrying, and use of enchanted items. It's implied that his energy exchanges with Vald's demonic side are considered a form of theurgic Black Magic, with Halrein saying that the council of elders will "find [him] guilty" of tainting his magic by having sex with "that beast".
# Characters.DotHackSecondGeneration: His job allows him to learn many of the spells used by Harvest Clerics and Shadow Warlocks (including debuff/bad status types) but he doesn't gain the high-level spells of either class. He is the only one, however, that gains a very useful party-wide +50% speed/movement boost spell.
# Characters.FinalFantasyXIVScionsOfTheSeventhDawn: Her Job, as revealed in Stormblood.
# Literature.SchooledInMagic: MasterOfAll: Void's discipline of
magical damage, heal, study is magic itself. He teaches that all of the varied magical disciplines are essentially the same thing, and even protect teammates [[TheRedMage any magical spell can be cast]] by someone who understands the basic principles of magic. For example, you don't need to use alchemy to brew a potion when you can imitate the potion's effects with the right spellwork.
# Characters.SkulduggeryPleasant: Up until her Surge, she has Elemental and Necromancy magic.
# Characters.CognitiveDissonance: Has the best healing and defense PSI, along with the whole PK Freeze line of attacks.
# Characters.MegaManStarForce: He can use Battle Cards, which means he can use all elements and attributes as he sees fit. Following the original archetype, he is completely capable of using both attack cards as well as buffs, traps and healing cards.
# Characters.FantasiaOtomeGameSeries: His Half ability allows him to practice two different elements at once.
# Characters.TheSpectralChronicles: PlayingWithFire: After awakening her Phoenix spell, [[TheRedMage she gains access to fire spells in addition to her holy ones, and some of them get combined]].
# Characters.LascantiaOfTheHorizon: His skills consist a fair mix between attacking skills and ailment-inducing skills.
# Characters.TalesOfXillia: She has a moderately strong healing arte (stronger than anyone besides Elize and Leia in any case) and can cast Resurrection, but she's primarily an offensive spellcaster.
# ComplacentGamingSyndrome.VideoGames: In Tales of Destiny 2, there's less characters than in the previous Tales games, but as soon as Harold is available the party usually ends up consisting of Kyle, Reala, [[TheRedMage Harold]], and either Loni for his secondary healing abilities or Judas because he's a cool Glass Cannon (and one of the series' Ensemble Darkhorses). Though a liked character, Nanaly is almost never used, simply because her damage output is kind of low and she specializes in fire magic whereas the other two wizards have four elements to pick from.
# Characters.DungeonsAndDragonsClassesFirstToThirdEditionCoreClasses: Bards are the inspiration for the Trope Namer
from harm.Final Fantasy, actually, technically making them the Trope Maker. They're decent melee fighters, have a diverse if limited selection of magic, and come equipped with a raft of special abilities related to music and skills. The main drawback is that they'll be outclassed in almost any area by a more dedicated class.
# Characters.SCPFoundationOrtothanism: The Holy Mage certainly learned many thaumaturgic practices in their many eons of life.
# Characters.GreedFall: She's a melee fighter with magic spells and healing magic.
# ShootTheMedicFirst.VideoGames: Aiming for the medics is also a good plan when dealing with Mars Clan girls, but for different reasons. Menardi and Karst are both serious threats [[TheRedMage in their own right]], and have access to the One-Hit Kill attack Death Scythe.

# Characters.ShiningForceIII: Possesses healing and offensive magic spells.
# Characters.EldenRingSecondaryCharacters: Skilled at both sorcery and prayer. Which makes sense, as his church is all about celebrating the union of a holy figure and a powerful sorceress, after all.
# VideoGame.FinalFantasyXI: Guess which class qualifies?
# MagicKnight.VideoGames: The Red Mage can use Black and White magic as their command, and specialize in wielding swords. As a counterbalance, their weapon proficiency is higher with swords and they're generally a Jack of All Stats. Their Black and White Magic mastery also stops Level 4, so they're unable to use the high-end spells the Black Mage and White Mage can.
# Sandbox.GoblinSlayerSwordMaiden: She uses arcane magic as well as miracles, and could even combo-cast with Female Mage as Female Bishop. She claims not to see what's so valuable about the skill compared to a more advanced single-type caster.
# Recap.TheOwlHouseS1E5Covention: When witches enter into a coven, they're given a tattoo which limits them to that coven's magic specialty. It's considered necessary to maintain order, so while Eda's refusal to join one lets her use any kind of magic, it's also the biggest reason she's a wanted criminal. The Emperor's coven is exempt from this restriction.
# Characters.FireEmblemThreeHousesByleth: MasterOfNone: Despite their great potential overall, if the player wants to recruit all students, then Byleth's skill growth will end up haphazard and unfocused throughout most of Part I due to having to develop serviceable skills in pretty much every martial discipline in the game. Mercifully, unlocking the Enlightened One class at the end of Chapter 10 instantly turns them into TheRedMage with no investment required, and they can spend Part II catching up to become a proper Master of All.

# VideoGame.FellSealArbitersMark: The Druid class is a jack-of-all-trades class with a fairly even mix of offensive and healing spells as well as buffs and debuffs. They also have access to melee weapons and shields which most magic-based classes do not. Yates’s unique Anatomist class combines potent single-target healing magic with powerful dark-elemental attack spells and the ability to raise dead enemy units as zombies.

Their low-mid-tier Black and White Magic mastery also stops Level 4, so they're unable to abilities, don't have even any unique relics that increase their Magic or Mind.

# Characters.MarriageOfHeavenAndHellFujiwaraHousehold: He is efficient at both dealing damage and dealing with it.
# Literature.GotrekAndFelix: Max is a very well-rounded mage, and can do pretty much anything the plot demands, subject to his endurance limit.
# YMMV.StarOceanTheSecondStory: ''Index entry or ZCE''
# Characters.RabiRibi: Uses offensive and healing magic, and her boost attacks can provide buffs.
# VideoGame.FellSealArbitersMark: The Druid class ShikihimeGarden: TheMedic: Recovery-type himes are the only ones with the ability to heal the rest of your team. They have lower overall stats than the other types and make for terrible frontliners, but can turn into powerful and competent Combat Medics through the use of stat-boosting items, effectively making them [[TheRedMage mages that can heal.]]
# DarthWiki.CloudsOfAltaenia: SupportPartyMember: Her initial role in the team
is a jack-of-all-trades class with a fairly even mix of offensive healer, and while she never loses that status, she evolves throughout the game into becoming more of an [[TheRedMage all-around magic user]].
# Characters.MassEffect3PartyMembers: She's a Sentinel equivalent — Incinerate, Overload, Lift Grenades and a Biotic Protector ability similar to the asari justicar's sphere.
# Characters.ArrowverseLegendsFormerMembers: Uses several kinds of magic from different traditions rather than committing to a single tradition like Papa Midnite, which makes his magic weaker than if he stuck to one tradition.
# VideoGame.SeventhDragon: Psychics in the 2020 games and Mages in III can use both elemental damage and recovery spells. Unlike many other examples, however, they excel at both.
# CombatMedic.VideoGames: Lesser examples include Summoner, an offshoot of Arcanist that is the DPS counterpart to the

Yates’s unique Anatomist class combines potent marries several schools of magic together to use them in different ways than White or Black Mages. Both have some minor ability to heal other players, but they only get a basic single-target healing magic with spell — which will be less potent than a proper healer's due to their lower Mind stat — and a single resurrection spell, which makes them better at taking some of the pressure off an actual healer's efforts to keep the party alive and in top form rather than taking over for them entirely.
# Characters.BurningBlack: She initially was learning healing spells to help cover Timmy, but has since started studying and training to use higher level attack spells. Vicky taught her to use a dagger and sword for her own protection.
# Characters.TrialsOfManaVillains: He masters extremely
powerful dark-elemental attack spells attacks, as well as equally powerful healing spells.
# GoodIsNotSoft.VideoGames: In Baldur's Gate II, many of your Good-aligned party members, particularly Keldorn, Minsc, Mazzy,

# Characters.FateGrandOrderCastersNToZ: Her main niche is damage as she was the first SSR Caster with a damaging Noble Phantasm, which is a Buster and single target at that and can be quickly spammed. A Rank-Up Quest upgrade resulted in her currently being the best offensive Caster. She can tank a little, but she has low HP for a Caster and you need to be careful about when to use the skill. Sanzang's Teachings (party-wide increase to NP generation buff) is genuinely good, but as support goes she has to compete with the likes of Waver or Merlin.

# Characters.GrrlPowerArchon: As her nickname implies... Dabbler outright says that she doesn't excel by doing just one thing, and she has demonstrated powerful and versatile magic, highly advanced technology, artifacts of great power, and great speed and strength. # CharacterGush.AnimeAndManga: Rio Wesley is sorely unappreciated. offense, while Jerin's more of a [[TheRedMage Red Mage]].

# Characters.LeagueOfLegendsSaToSh: Designed as a Burst Mage/Enchanter hybrid, Seraphine's primarily meant to be played as a supportive midlaner; her gameplay is about landing wide Area of Effect abilities that can be bolstered when she's with her team to deal damage towards her enemies. However, her potential utility courtesy of Surround Sound has earned her a spot among the support players.
# Characters.TheSevenDeadlySinsLiones: Other than the fact that she dresses in red, she is capable of performing a wide assortment of powers that range from teleportation to elemental based attacks as opposed to most other characters who primarily specialize in one type of ability. She is also different from Helbram as it appears that her powers are her own rather than those borrowed from others.
# Characters.DragonQuestVII: She learns some attack spells and Heal before the party reaches Alltrades Abbey.
# NeutralFemale.VideoGames: Aerith becomes this in Compilation of Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts but Crisis Core in particular doesn’t feature fighting her or getting into any sort of scrape like the 1997 game with Aerith being portrayed as meek and scared of violence here and role in the story consists of being Zack’s cute Love Interest and shoulder to lean on. Thankfully the Final Fantasy VII Remake continuity averts this throwing Aerith into the battlefield once more as TheRedMage.
# Characters.FinalFantasyDimensions: He starts with red magic and a sword initially, but after jobs open up it's up to the player.
# Characters.BurningBlack: She initially was learning healing spells to help cover Timmy, but has since started studying and training to use higher level attack spells. Vicky taught her to use a dagger and sword for her own protection.
# Sandbox.{{Kappaclystica}}: A nearly verbatim example, though with two flavours of Fighter (Fighter and Monk), and three colours of Mage (Red, White, and Black).
# Characters.TalesOfDestiny2: She sacrifices most low-tier and mid-tier spells for high-tier healing and offensive magic that's devastating due to her high intelligence stat. This is balanced by her low TP recovery rate, the high cost of her spells, and the fact that she can't cast Resurrection.
# Platform.AppleMacintosh: Arguably software architect Andy Hertzfeld, whose business card literally read "Software Wizard" and who was responsible for many diverse ideas, as well as much of the Toolbox API.
# Characters.{{Miitopia}}: Offers a mix of offensive and recovery abilities, though they specialize moreso in the former than the latter.
# Characters.AllForLuz: This is the only coven that allows their members to use all forms of the magic system.
# TheOrderOfTheStick.TropesVToZ: In the comic, lightning is generally white or yellow — with the exception of Zz'dtri, who is throwing green bolts. Interesting in that every spell caster has their own unique color for spells (two colors for Mystic Theurge Tsukiko), but only Zz'dtri has it affect lightning color.
# VideoGame.MysticArk: The Red Mage — Despite being black and white style mages respectively, both Miriene and Meisia have access to both schools of magic. The main difference is Meisia learns healing spells faster and can multi-cast them, while Miriene has the strongest attack magic.
# Characters.LeagueOfLegendsXToZ: His kit is extremely bare-bones, with his Time Bomb being his only skillshot, damage, and (if landed properly) hard, immobilizing crowd control, with the rest of his kit either being point/click buffs and debuffs, a cooldown management buff, or a long-cooldown experience-dispensing mechanic. In spite of this and his poor early game, he's extremely consistent and powerful in his niche of fusing burst damage and support power come mid-late game, with Chronoshift being one of the most powerful abilities in the game in terms of raw value and utility. It's telling that while he doesn't have great playrates and is often written off as a bore, Riot has rarely felt the need to re-balance himnote Ever since his 2015 rework, aside from bugfixes and shifts from global standarizations, the number of times his actual numbers were changed can be counted on one hand as he always has solid winrates and his in-game impact is that palpable.
# Characters.TheOrderOfTheStickTeamEvil: Mystic Theurge.
# Characters.FireEmblemThreeHousesBlueLions: Mercedes is a former Adrestian noble with a gentle, graceful demeanor as well as a high Magic growth, allowing her to cast powerful spells whenever she isn't healing allies. # Characters.WildArms2: WhiteMagicianBoy: At first, although he wanders more into TheRedMage territory later.
# Characters.FateGrandOrderRulers: All of her skills have party support effects, but her Noble Phantasm deals damage to the enemy.
# Characters.ChronoTrigger: He can't learn real magic, but his lasers inflict shadow damage, he has explosive for fire damage and can shock enemies with electricity. He also has both a single target and party healing move which scales nicely.
# Characters.UnchainedBlades: As she is a rapier-wielding bird-winged magic-wielding tsundere-esque Rebellious Princess (and main female lead) that teams up with a human with dragon powers, to seek out a wish-granting goddess, she is a dead ringer for Nina from Breath of Fire I.

# Fanfic.LearningHowToBeAWitch: Like her sister DontLookBack: True to canon, Luz, Viney, Jerbo and the troublemakers, Lucila also becomes a multi-track student; specializing in Bard Barcus all get to study multiple tracks. # Characters.OurLittleAdventureSouballoEmpire: Angelo is stated to be a "Mystic Theurge", a D&D Prestige Class allowing the simultaneous advance of both Cleric spells and (in Angelo's case) Sorcerer spells.
# VideoGame.GrandChase: Arme and Ronan.
# Characters.FireEmblemThreeHousesBlackEagles: While true of most magic focused characters, Linhardt has only two proficienies, and both of them are in Reason Magic and Faith Magic, and his growths make him someone who works best as a purely magic focused character.
# Characters.DemonGaze2: In terms of magic, Libra learns a mix of attack, healing and support. This means that using her full potential might be harder than some other magic users, since she needs both high Intelligence and Mysticism to benefit all of her spells.
# Pantheon.CommunitiesAndSolitude: Magitek Elite, Varying Hair Colors Depending on Adaptations, Amnesiac Heroine, Decoy Protagonist in the Second Half, Heal the Cutie, Last Living Proof of Espers In Her World, TheRedMage, Mama Bear, Mysterious Past, Mystical Waif, Parental Substitute for the Mobliz Orphans, Phlebotinum Girl And Rebel, Not Understanding What Love Is Before Eventually Finding It
# Characters.FateGrandOrderCastersNToZ: Her main niche is damage as she was the first SSR Caster with a damaging Noble Phantasm, which is a Buster and single target at that and can be quickly spammed.
# Characters.UnlimitedSaga: Rebecca's Ability Makings steer her into a Warrior-mage role.
# Characters.GrrlPowerArchon: As her nickname implies... Dabbler outright says that she doesn't excel by doing just one thing, and she has demonstrated powerful and versatile magic, highly advanced technology, artifacts of great power, and great speed and strength. There are things she isn't that good at (as evidenced during her fight against Heavenly Sword), but that is precisely why she has such a diversity of skill sets and tools. Apparently, she has so many skills that she's one of the few supers capable of meeting Maxima's power level.
# Characters.WildArmsXF: As an Arcanist, she has both offensive and healing magic.
# TabletopGame.ReturnersFinalFantasyRoleplayingGame: Red Mages and Sages can both select from the White, Black, and Time schools of magic. Red Mages are limited to only four spells per level, and sacrifice the highest level spells for the ability to use swords. Sages are restricted to five spells per level, and have less magic power and MP than their specialized counterparts.
# CharacterGush.AnimeAndManga: Rio Wesley is sorely unappreciated. She's not especially special and/or smart, like her friends, but she tried combining two elemental affinities and making up her own style (impressing everyone else in the process), is really cheerful and determined to catch up to her friends, plus she's sooo cute. Oh, and she beat up that molesting Sein, which should be considered a dual Crowning Moment of Awesome/Funny for her.
# Webcomic.FeliciaSorceressOfKatara: Her fur color aside, Felicia uses Black Magic and White Magic in equal measure, being one of the reasons the exclusively light-using Magic Council distrusts her.
# Characters.NeverwinterNights: Again, bard, offensive and support magic come in kind to her.
# Characters.NamcoXCapcom: Can cast offensive and support magic while also being a competent thief and swordsman.
# Characters.RuneFactory4: Knows both offensive and healing magic.
# Characters.Sacred2FallenAngel: His skills combine a tank, a summoner and a wizard. What else can you ask for, aside from peace in the world?
# Characters.TheHeartOfStorms: In addition to hitting hard with their right-click attacks, Felsworns can heal allies with Fel Skin and boost their mana regeneration and attack with Mouth of the Legion.
# Characters.CardcaptorSakura: He's one of the most powerful mages in the world because he combines both Western and Eastern magic, each inherited from a parent.
# Fanfic.DontLookBack: True to canon, Luz, Viney, Jerbo and Barcus all get to study multiple tracks. In addition, Marcy takes up potions, plants and abominations while Amity decides to study everything like Luz.
# Characters.FinalFantasyXVIProtagonists: As the Dominant of Phoenix, Joshua is capable of casting offensive fire magic, defensive barriers, seals, and powerful healing spells. Fittingly, he primarily wears red.
# VideoGame.FinalFantasyRecordKeeper: Like Dissidia Final Fantasy, several characters who were Red Mages in their base games are made either pure physical attackers or pure mages. Even Squall and Lightning, who can use low-mid-tier Black and White Magic abilities, don't have even any unique relics that increase their Magic or Mind.
# Characters.TropersTheSeries: Specializes in casting magic. Both offensively and defensively.
# Characters.TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles: In the games, average movement speed and faster attack speed than Don, but defensively weaker than Leo.
Her strengths in Reason and Faith make her a strong candidate for the Gremory class.
# Characters.DigimonAdventureSupportingCast: While most Digimon have one or two attacks and maybe one special ability, Wizardmon is arguably the most versatile character in the series. He could heal curses, fly unaided (or levitate, because he had various psychic powers), control the weather, dish out lightning and fire, and, in the English and Spanish dubs, read minds. Not to mention he was incredibly hard to kill and could return as a ghost. Being based on Wizards as a fantasy concept, it's not a stretch to see he had a lot of different magical powers at his disposal. He gets even more powers in the Expanded Universe and in Digimon Frontier, including the ability to create copies of himself and produce fear gas. All of this on top of being a hunter, a spy, and an expert in stealth.
# YMMV.FinalFantasyXIV: During The Rising in 2015, players were taken to the 18th Floor (a Mythology Gag to Final Fantasy IV) and got the chance to converse with Naoki Yoshida, who noted that the next expansion was already in the planning stages and could potentially include a swimming mechanic and the long-awaited Red Mage job, leading fans to speculate that Yoshida was speaking the truth, before Tokyo Fan Fest 2016 confirmed both to be true.
# Characters.PhantasyStarOnline2Classes: They're not as hard-hitting in melee combat as a dedicated melee class nor will they put out as much magical damage as a Force, but they can dish out both in equal measure while having unique skills that enhance their supportive Techs.
# JustForFun.SciFiCounterpart: The Red Mage — Omnidisciplinary Scientist
# Characters.APracticalGuideToEvil: The Orc warbands used to Rape, Pillage, and Burn across the Steppes and surrounding areas, with all of their human neighbors living in terror and subjugation. When the Mezian Empire invaded in The War of Chains, many peoples were subjugated, but none hit harder than the Orcs. Their population was decimated, their warbands destroyed, their warrior-priest Shamans wiped out to the point that magical ability was almost entirely removed from the gene pool, and they became a slave/warrior race.Things weren't much better under The Empire of Praes. For millennia, they didn't even develop Named due to their decimated culture.
# ShootTheMedicFirst.VideoGames: In the games, the Star Magician would be a very easy fight... if he couldn't summon Refresh Balls to spam healing Psynergy (Earnest Ply in Lost Age, Pure Ply in Dark Dawn, both heal 1000) whenever necessary or possible. While there are other high-threat balls, guess what dies first if you plan on winning. And done in-verse in The Lost Age, when Karst and Agatio plan to trap Mia because she's both the party's healer and a Water Adept (they're both Fire Adepts). Aiming for the medics is also a good plan when dealing with Mars Clan girls, but for different reasons. Menardi and Karst are both serious threats in their own right, and have access to the One-Hit Kill attack Death Scythe.
# Characters.GetInTheCarLoser: Sam uses both offensive Ravage spells and support magic to deal damage and heal allies respectively. Albeit, given how her powers work, it's hard for Sam to actually kill her enemies, and this gives her considerable angst.
# Characters.TheMultiverserSagaTheMultiversersSecondWave: Has a vast variety of skills and abilities to use at his disposal, which he can use and switch out with on the fly. Assisted in this with help from his AI and mental roommates.
# VideoGame.FinalFantasyChroniclesOfEno: Soraan is this, as well as Mika Solwin.
# Characters.DissidiaFinalFantasyOperaOmniaSpinoffGames: {{Homage}}: Neon's alternate costume has her don an outfit based on TheRedMage from the original Final Fantasy, only more modernized for the Stranger of Paradise setting.
# Characters.DungeonsAndDragonsDragons: To offset their physical weakness, neutral dragons mix their innate sorcery with divine spellcasting, so amber dragons learn druid spells, while the rest cast both priest and wizard spells.
# YMMV.RakenzarnTales: With such a large cast, it's very easy to just find a team that suits your needs and stick with it to save on cash for gear upgrading, only switching out to meet Ultra Boss conditions. Common contenders are Dark Magician Girl, Donald, Axel, Cain and Kanon. Later updates have attempted to resolve this with skill cooldowns, more specialized party members and mid-combat party swapping.
# Characters.StarOcean1: Though his healing magic is really only useful before Millie rejoins. He focuses much more on offensive magic.
# Characters.Overlord2012Kingdoms: Is notable for being able to use Arcane, Divine and Spiritual magic.
# Characters.DragonQuestIX: Learns (most of) the Mage's attack spells and (most of) the Priest's healing spells.

# Characters.FightingFantasyStarPupils: In addition to the obvious, he is equally adept as a support for you with Healing Magic and power boosts, as he is in battle, decimating the enemy's ranks with his deadly spells.
# Characters.RiseOfTheRocketsTeamRocket: Describes her team overall, having a mix of Physical fighters, Special attack slingers, and a healer, her team has a variety of different specialities, but thus she has not mastered any of them.
# Characters.FinalFantasyXIVCasterClasses: AnAdventurerIsYou: In true Final Fantasy fashion of TheRedMage, the class is a bit of a Jack of All Trades role, heavily focused towards single-target damage. In terms of the roles they do play as, they're a Nuker mage first, a Blademaster Melee DPS second when their Mana gauge is charged up enough, and a Classic Healer third via the use of their "Vercure" and "Verraise", which also take advantage of their Dualcast chain-spell trait. In PvP they pull triple duty as the Nuker, Debuffer, and Classic Healer, able to burst down single targets with their melee combo, riddle their opponents with status effects, and heal their teammates by swapping between their Black and White Shift stances. They also bear traits of the DoT Master as their melee combo inflicts a nasty damaging debuff while in Black Shift.
# PlayingWith.YinYangBomb: TheRedMage can use both dark and light magic but can wield neither as well as a specialist. Combining the powers creates a different element with the best and worst of both worlds or its own unique properties (e.g. combining lightning with fire creates a laser that hits its target instantly and penetrates targets but doesn't set them on fire nor does it arc to other targets).
# DarthWiki.IvaliceAdventures: Alae, of course.
# Characters.ArrowverseMystics: He is fully committed to Voodoo and thinks of John as a magical "parasite" for taking bits and pieces of magic from different traditions rather than fully committing to a single one.
# Characters.TacticsOgreClasses: The Rune Fencer or Valkyrie is able to cast a unique selection of offensive, supportive, and recuperative spells.
# Characters.DragonQuestXIOtherCharacters: Sinderella uses both fire spells and healing spells.
# Characters.DragonAgeOriginsNonPlayableCharacters: Irving uses a vast mixture of spells from the various schools of magic. Lightning spells from the Primal tree, the Hex line from the Entropy tree, Glyph spells and Heal spells from the Creation tree.
# AdaptationalBadass.VideoGames: Aerith goes from the White Mage to TheRedMage using more offensive magic and shows skill in hand to hand combat, effortlessly beating down Don Corneo's mooks. She can even take on Sephiroth and land the final blow on him. Her timid ingenue traits from Crisis Core are gone completely.
# Characters.FinalFantasyII: Is this initially, having both black and white magic as well as skill with a sword.
# Sandbox.CharactersAPracticalGuideToEvil: Described as having an 'eclectic' bag of magic tricks, rather than any one discipline.
# Pantheon.CharacterAdaptations: Skeptic, Badass Cape, Big Brother Mentor, Consummate Professional, Deadpan Snarker, Uses earth-based attacks, Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold, Heroic Self-Deprecation, Humble Hero, The Lancer, Magic Knight, The Quiet One, TheRedMage, The Reliable One, The Stoic
# YMMV.ShadowHearts1: LowTierLetdown: Zhuzhen is an interesting case. He's not bad by any means (being TheRedMage who can lay waste to all enemies), most players prefer to use the attackers since they can do damage for free, and Zhuzhen requires MP recovery items which means wasted turns.
# PlayingWith.LongHairIsFeminine: Among the eponymous Legends of Troperia, Alice the gentle and girly White Magician Girl has waist-length blonde hair; the rough and tough Boudica (no relation) the Barbarian Queen sports a buzzcut; Charlie TheRedMage wears a moptop; while Dmitri The Paladin of Svarog boasts a Bald Head of Toughness.
# VideoGame.StrangerOfSwordCity: UpdatedRerelease: Clocker, Puppeteer, and Freeman:The Clocker class is a Jack of All Trades, learning low level Wizard and Cleric spells as well as using melee weapons, making them very similar to TheRedMage. However, they also get time based skills, allowing them to act more frequently or prevent the enemy from acting. The Puppeteer class is the oddball, being a Technical Pacifist that cannot even equip weapons, but instead uses various Mind Control tricks to cause the enemy to attack each other (and even itself) to do damage, being The Mezzer of sorts. The Freeman class is unique in that is can not ever join the battle party and instead stays behind helping out the Guild earning extra perks over time.
# Characters.EarthboundTheChosenFour: He can use both healing and offensive PSI, and has decent overall stats as well.
# Characters.PaperMario64: In The Thousand-Year-Door, she primarily plays a supporting role to Bowser in battle, but she still has a defense-piercing magic blast, and her buffing spells can be cast on herself as well to make her offense even deadlier.
# Characters.ArenaOfValorSupportHeroes: Peura balances out between having offensive and disruptive capabilities and healing her friends. Averted with Helen, where her skills gears more into the defensive/healing side and the only manner of offensive she has is just her second skill. This is actually closer to their Honor of Kings counterpart.
# Characters.SecretOfEvermore: He's both a physical and a magical attacker with alchemy, but the Dog has higher HP and is better in close-quarters combat.
# DarthWiki.ElementalDoom: Darla is a generalist, but favors evocation in selection.
# Sandbox.ElementalWicks: She has several of them thanks to her status as a Red Mage but most of them are non-weaponized spell versions. Does not explain what powers
