->''"Soon, the galaxy will be remade. The Jedi... and Republic, will die."''
-->-- '''Darth Maul'''

''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'' returns for a seventh and final season. Created by Creator/GeorgeLucas and directed by Creator/DaveFiloni, the series was initially cancelled in 2013 after the conclusion of its fifth season, with a sixth season being released in 2014, and was then [[UnCanceled revived]] in 2018 with a 12 episode season.

Following up on the events of the previous seasons, the Clone Wars continues to wage across the Galaxy. The clone troopers (Creator/DeeBradleyBaker) continue to fight for the Republic, while former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano (Creator/AshleyEckstein), still reeling from her departure from the Jedi Order, struggles to adjust to civilian life, all before the war [[Film/RevengeOfTheSith comes to an end]].

The season premiered exclusively on Creator/DisneyPlus on February 21, 2020.

!!Alright, Tropers. What's so important that you brought us all the way back here?

* TheAllegedCar: Ahsoka's speeder starts to break down the moment she goes down towards the Coruscant underworld, forcing her to crash land onto Trace's workshop.
* ArtEvolution: As a result of gaining more experience from working on ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsResistance Resistance]]'', advancements in animation technology, and wanting to create consistency between all the shows, the art style and animation of ''The Clone Wars'' are much more polished this season. For instance, the character models of the main characters are updated to have smaller eyes.
* BadassBoast: Mace Windu gives one to a group of battle droids in the Anaxes assembly complex:
-->'''Mace Windu:''' My name is General Mace Windu, of the Jedi Order. At this point of the Clone War, I have dismantled and destroyed over 100,000 of you type 1 battle droids. I am giving you an opportunity to peacefully lay down your weapons, so that you may be reprogrammed to serve a better purpose than spreading the mindless violence and chaos which you have inflicted upon the galaxy.
* CallBack: Ahsoka has to deal with a Type 2 binary loadlifter droid on a rampage, a situation she previously faced in the ''[[WebAnimation/StarWarsForcesOfDestiny Forces of Destiny]]'' short [[Recap/StarWarsForcesOfDestinyS1E4ThePadawanPath "The Padawan Path"]].
* CallForward: After Ahsoka crash lands her [[TheAllegedCar speeder]], she adequately calls it [[Film/ANewHope a piece of junk]].
%%** As briefly seen in the official trailer, the women in Maul's faction of Mandalorians have a similar helmet color to [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Sabine's helmet and armor]]. AllThereInTheManual has also stated that Sabine never changed the color of her helmet (which was passed down to her) until ''Rebels'' Season 2.
%%* TheCameo: In the official trailer, Depa Billaba and [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Caleb Dume]] attend Yoda and Mace's meeting via hologram.
* CloseOnTitle: Taking a cue from ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsResistance Resistance]]'' and, unlike the previous seasons' TitlePlease approach, the titles of the episodes of this season are displayed early in the end credits.
* ContinuityNod:
** Clone Force 99, the Bad Batch's official name, is named after the late defective clone [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS3E1CloneCadets 9]][[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS3E2ARCTroopers 9]].
** [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Fyrnocks]] can be seen in the background on Anaxes.
** Anakin and Obi-Wan are fighting in the [[Film/RevengeOfTheSith Outer Rim Sieges]].
* CuttingTheKnot: Tech tries to hack the back door into the Cyber Center, but Wrecker decides to bust it open with [[SuperStrength brute force]] instead.
-->'''Wrecker:''' Haha! You take too long!
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange: Anakin and Kix change hairstyles for this season, with Anakin now sporting his "Jedi [[SeventiesHair '70s mane]]" from ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'' to signify that the series is approaching the end of the Clone Wars, while Kix drops his BaldOfAwesome in favor of a full head of hair.
%%* FakingTheDead:
* FantasticFlora: Anaxes is covered in glowing red plants that ''shatter'' when Separatist tanks pass by them. Since the planet's native Fyrnocks are SiliconBasedLife, it's likely the plants are too.
%%* GrandFinale:
* LateArrivalSpoiler:
** Ahsoka standing next to Bo-Katan in the SDCC '18 trailer gives away the latter's HeelFaceTurn that happened back in the fifth season.
** The Celebration Chicago trailer is filled with major spoilers from the previous seasons, such as Ahsoka leaving the Jedi Order and the deaths of Fives, Echo, and Hevy.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: The trailers have a few nods to the series having been {{uncanceled}}.[[invoked]]
** Ahsoka tells Anakin in the SDCC '18 trailer that "It's been a while".
** In the Celebration Chicago trailer, Rex says this to Ahsoka:
--->'''Rex:''' Glad to have you back, Commander.
* MetaphoricallyTrue: Ahsoka dances around the truth regarding her Jedi past. For instance, when Trace asks her where she learned to fight, she says she got it from her older brother ([[LikeBrotherAndSister likely referring to Anakin]]).
%%* MindRape: In the official trailer, Maul appears to be doing this with the Force to a captive Jesse.
* {{Newsreel}}: As with the previous seasons, the OpeningNarration of every episode is styled like this.
* TheOner:
** In the SDCC '18 trailer, the camera follows an LAAT flying to Fort Anaxes, then presents Anakin, Rex, and Hunter walking outside the base, and finally pans to a ''humongous'' Republic fleet that's above them.
** The sequence of Hunter, Tech and Wrecker fighting their way into the cyber center in [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS7E1TheBadBatch "The Bad Batch"]] is all done in one shot, starting from when Wrecker opens the back door to the squad taking out the droids in the command room.
** After the end of the opening narration in [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS7E2ADistantEcho "A Distant Echo"]], it opens with a shot similar to the one from the 2018 SDCC trailer following an LAAT flying into Fort Anaxes before bringing us to Anakin, Rex and Hunter inside the hangar.
* PreciousPhoto: Rex has a group photo of Cody, himself, Fives, and Echo, with the latter two dead. [[spoiler:However, it's later revealed that Echo is still alive.]]
* RecycledTrailerMusic: The SDCC '18 trailer uses the same music as ''Film/TheForceAwakens''[='=] [[https://youtu.be/ngElkyQ6Rhs second trailer]].
%%* ResolvedNoodleIncident: After years of teases (starting with 2015's [[Recap/StarWarsRebelsS2E01TheLostCommanders "The Lost Commanders"]] in ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]''), the Siege of Mandalore finally appears in full.
* SavedByCanon: Thanks to the existence of SequelSeries ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'', we know that Ahsoka, Rex, Bo-Katan, and Maul, none of whom had this guarantee in the series' original run, are all coming out of this season alive.
%%* SeriesContinuityError: Ahsoka's lightsabers now have blue blades, explained to be because of Anakin tinkering with them. This contradicts ''[[Literature/StarWarsAhsoka Ahsoka]]'', in which the sabers are explicitly described as having their original blade colours of green and yellow before she abandons them.
* SignificantWardrobeShift:
** Anakin and Obi-Wan now fully adhere to the appearances they will have in ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''.
** Ahsoka switches from her Jedi attire to a civilian jumpsuit after leaving the Order.
%%* SimultaneousArcs: In the official trailer, Mace and Yoda are having their meeting with the other Jedi about a possible plot to overthrow the Republic, the exact same conversation from ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'', indicating that the season will overlap with the movie.

!!Alright, Tropers. What's so important that you brought us all the way back here?

* TheAllegedCar: Ahsoka's speeder starts to break down the moment
otome game she goes down towards the Coruscant underworld, forcing her to crash land onto Trace's workshop.
For instance, the character models of

I am giving you an opportunity to peacefully lay down your weapons,
take up measures so that you may be reprogrammed to serve a better purpose than spreading the mindless violence and chaos which you have inflicted upon the galaxy.
* CallBack: Ahsoka
she won't end up in certain doom. She also has to deal with a Type 2 binary loadlifter droid on a rampage, a situation she previously faced in the ''[[WebAnimation/StarWarsForcesOfDestiny Forces of Destiny]]'' short [[Recap/StarWarsForcesOfDestinyS1E4ThePadawanPath "The Padawan Path"]].
* CloseOnTitle: Taking a cue from ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'' and ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsResistance Resistance]]'' and, unlike the previous seasons' TitlePlease approach, the titles
rest of the episodes of this season are displayed early in the end credits.
* ContinuityNod:
* LateArrivalSpoiler:
* MetaphoricallyTrue: Ahsoka dances
people around her, including [[Anime/DevilmanCrybaby Akira Fudo]], her fiance; [[VideoGame/WarioWare Spitz]], Byleth's brother; [[Anime/SailorMoon Tuxedo Mask]], Akira's younger brother; [[Franchise/{{Digimon}} Sora Takenouchi]], Tuxedo Mask's fiance; [[VideoGame/{{Neptunia}} Neptune]], the truth regarding her Jedi past.
* TheOner:
* SavedByCanon: Thanks to the existence of SequelSeries ''[[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels Rebels]]'', we know that Ahsoka, Rex, Bo-Katan, and Maul, none of whom had this guarantee in the series'
original run, are all coming out protagonist of this season alive.
%%* SeriesContinuityError: Ahsoka's lightsabers now have blue blades, explained to be because of Anakin tinkering with them. This contradicts ''[[Literature/StarWarsAhsoka Ahsoka]]'', in which
the sabers are explicitly described as having their original blade colours of green game; and yellow before she abandons them.
* SignificantWardrobeShift:
** Anakin and Obi-Wan now fully adhere to the appearances they will have in ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''.
** Ahsoka switches from her Jedi attire to
[[VideoGame/NierAutomata 2B]], a civilian jumpsuit after leaving the Order.
%%* SimultaneousArcs: In the official trailer, Mace and Yoda are having their meeting with the other Jedi about a possible plot to overthrow the Republic, the exact same conversation from ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith'', indicating that the season will overlap with the movie.

->''Embrace others for their differences, for that makes you whole.''

On Anaxes, Republic forces trying to hold the planet's key shipyards are suffering considerable losses. Captain Rex and Commander Cody come forward to Jedi Generals Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker with a theory: the Separatists somehow know and are using ''Rex's'' battle plans and strategy algorithm. They propose sending a team behind enemy lines to the Separatists' computer centre to figure out how they're doing it. But Rex obviously has something else on his mind, not that he's willing to admit what that is to General Skywalker.

When Cody comes in to get Rex as they prepare to leave, he finds him staring at an old picture of the two of them with the late ARC troopers Fives and Echo. Rex admits that Cody might think he's crazy, which is why he didn't mention this to the Jedi, but the Separatists are using old battle plans that Echo helped him come up with, so there's a possibility that he might not have died at the Citadel. Cody isn't sure what to think about that.

Cody has called in an unusual force of clone commandos, Clone Force 99, to participate in the mission alongside him, Rex, Jesse and Kix: they're clones with "desirable mutations" that make them more effective in combat, and they don't usually work with "regs", although they have a history with the Commander. But when their gunship is shot down on the way in, leaving Cody too injured to continue, Rex winds up in charge...

Originally released as part of an unfinished story reel, the completed episode premiered on February 21, 2020.

!!Tropes in the episode:

* AlliterativeTitle: "The '''B'''ad '''B'''atch".
* AllThereInTheManual: The episode guide confirms that, as in the original unfinished story reel, Fives was the only other person besides Rex and Echo who knew about the algorithm.
* AsideGlance: Hunter, when Tech explains that the Yalbec males that Hunter had said were trying to kill them after Wrecker cut off the queen's stinger were actually trying to mate with them.
* BigWhat: Trench, when informed that the clones who infiltrated the cyber centre may have made a connection to Skako Minor.
* BriefAccentImitation: During the attack on the cyber centre, after Hunter and Wrecker come through the front doors as Rex and Jesse are holding off attacking battle droids, Rex sarcastically asks Wrecker what took him so long. When Wrecker snipes back that he thought this was supposed to be a "delicate operation", he makes an attempt at imitating Rex's voice.
* CallBack: Rex recalls the deaths of [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS3E19Counterattack Echo]], [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS6E4Orders Fives]] and [[Recap/StarWarsTheCloneWarsS1E5Rookies Hevy]]. Then it's revealed that Echo is still alive.
* CallForward: The chatter between two of the battle droids guarding the cyber centre is somewhat... [[Film/ANewHope familiar]].
-->'''Battle Droid #1:''' Do you know what's going on?\\
'''Battle Droid #2:''' Maybe it's another drill.
* CloneDegeneration: The Bad Batch are defective clones that have beneficial mutations, so they've been arranged into an irregular unit to make use of their skills.
* ComingInHot: The ''Havoc Marauder'' comes in for a landing with ''exactly'' this wording used, to the point that various people on the ground have to run out of the ship's way, although it ultimately lands just fine.

* DelayedReaction: Rex is too shocked by the discovery that Echo is alive to immediately respond to Hunter telling him they need to leave.
* ExpositoryHairstyleChange:
** Kix has, for no explained reason, grown his hair out from his old nearly-bald style since the last time he was seen.
** Anakin's hair is also longer than it was in previous seasons, now lining up with the length it is during ''Film/RevengeOfTheSith''.
* FantasticSlur: "Regs", what the Bad Batch calls the regular, Jango Fett-looking clone troopers.
* IncomingHam: Disembarking from the Bad Batch's shuttle, Wrecker removes his helmet and bombastically announces:
-->"The cavalry has arrived!"
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: Discussed. Rex noticed that as the Republic keeps repeating certain strategies that were successful the first time, they become less effective as the Separatists learn from them. Rex's algorithm was made to [[DefiedTrope defy]] this trope so as to make their strategies more unpredictable.
* NeckLift: Wrecker gives one to Jesse during a disagreement about who is going to be in charge since Cody is too injured to continue.
* NeverFoundTheBody: Since Echo and Fives were the only other ones who knew about Rex's strategy algorithm and how it worked, and Fives' death is confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt, Rex theorizes that Echo must not have died immediately on Lola Sayu after he was caught in an explosion, since they never actually saw his body, and the Separatists extracted the algorithm from him. Then it turns out he's actually still alive...
* NoodleIncident:
** Commander Cody's history with the Bad Batch (he's clearly worked with them before and they respect him more than they do other "reg" clones) is left unexplained.
