When she's defeated by Stein, she escapes in the form of a snake and [[GrandTheftMe takes over the body of a little girl]]. She uses this form to her advantage, knowing damn well the protagonists [[WouldntHurtAChild won't kill her if it means killing the child]]. She gets Crona in Shibusen to act as TheMole and drive Stein to (greater) madness. When her sister Arachne is revived, Medusa goes to Shibusen to [[ManipulativeBastard ask]] for their aid in defeating her--she's given Shibusen's best students to help with the job. At this point, Crona's been captured and Medusa tells Maka it was Arachne who took them. When Maka defeats Arachne, Medusa [[GrandTheftMe takes over her sister's body]] and tells Maka [[ILied she lied]]: she was the one who captured Crona. Medusa proceeded to then drive Crona to insanity and to use them against Shibusen and anyone else who stands in her way, all just as an experiment. She then gives Crona the first hug Crona got from her, [[spoiler:driving them completely mad and killing her]], [[TheChessmaster all part of her sick plan]].

Great Overseer of Schicksal is essentially the leader of Schicksal Organization during the 15th century after the fall of Roman Empire and is Otto Apocalypse's late father. Initially, the Overseer become one of the most important figures during the 15th century due to him creating feudal order by helping several European Princes to gain power. Except...During 1470s, his true nature is revealed.

See, here's the thing, when 1470 came, a pandemic struck in Europe thanks to Erosion's fault. Sure, the leader of Schicksal wanted to decipher a box they had found in order to defeat the Honkai and the Plague. But in the meantime, it was revealed that he's also start several unethical experiments towards innocent civilians and it was revealed that he's responsible of the plague itself along with Erosion.

When the pandemic reaches a hazardous point, instead of helping the people who were affected by the pandemic, the Overseer then conspires with other Schicksal members to wage war against Ming Empire, better known as China, to take over the world. Predictably? This causes Schicksal Organization to lose the battle and as a result, to pay for the losses, they attempt to extort the money from the poor civilians who were struck by the plague by increasing the taxes. This made Schicksal unpopular by the people of Europe until Otto turns around and fix the damaged reputation thanks to the Overseer's hegemonical desires. If you ask me about the fate of Overseer? It is unknown but he dies at the end.

So the issue that I have with Overseer? Is his lack of screentime that his had. But you could argue that he developed enough personality despite the short screentime and this is the case of Emperor Napoleon from ''ComicBook/{{Grandville}}'' or Darmocles from Orcs series. He seems to have a good intentions by trying to defeat the Honkai and the plague but it was revealed to be a farce given his callousness towards the pandemic that happened across Europe and just wanting to fulfill his hegemonic desires so yeah...

Like I said, the heinous standard of HI3 is fucking brutal because of the roaming Herrschers around with Void being worst of them all and Erosion being a decent keeper for the trope. With the Overseer actions? I can understand why he really flunks the heinous standard given the lack of screentime and other Herrschers and his son had done worse.

Keep in mind that he has no resources compared to them, being a regular human, and the lack of screentime probably helps his qualification I guess? That and increasing tax from the poor when the pandemic struck just to cover your losses from waging war against China and activating a Pandora's Box which resulted on the plague kind of give you a bit of an edge but uh...I'm not sure on this one.

''VideoGame/HonkaiImpact3rd'' is a mobile game from China released around 2016. The story? You play as an unnamed captain of a battleship known as Hyperion and manage female fighters known as Valkyries to fight against the phenomenon called Honkai and it's manifestations, mainly the zombies or Honkai beasts. Now, Valkyrie themselves are from a NebulousEvilOrganization known as Schicksal Organization. They also clash with another organization known as Anti-Entropy because of different agenda that they had.

Now, speaking of Honkai, there are powerful entities known as the Herrschers who tries to destroy humanity and Schicksal Organization themselves are revealed to be a rather shady organization as I said. Some Herrscher can qualify for this trope and I'll get to the most prominent one soon enough. But there's another Herrscher that I'm going to talk about who probably kickstarts the whole ordeal for Honkai Impact 3rd game...

Meet Herrscher of the Erosion.

Alright...Our candidate here in question is actually the 12th Herrscher or better known as Herrscher of the Erosion. Now, the Herrscher in question? Was actually born in the Old World, a previous world that was destroyed by an Herrscher called Herrscher of the End (someone who will be brought to this thread some time soon alongside Herrscher of the Void) 52.000 years ago. Anyways, this Herrscher is actually a condescending self-aware virus that emerged with the Houkai's will and views living beings as a toy for her to play with and had a different agenda from the Houkai's Will and planned to destroy the human ciivilization to build a plague kingdom for herself, a dead world.

To that end, she then bodyjacks a girl named Higokumaru and spread a lethal plague that kill millions of people. This resulted on Higokumaru getting contained by the Fire Moth army and was horrifically executed by the scientists and general's because she was considered to be dangerous to be kept alive.

Unfortunately, that didn't last long, as it was revealed that despite her vessel died, Erosion then escapes from the vessel and then hacked the nuclear missile that Fire Moth had while attacking the last bastion of humanity which resulted on billions died. Why did she do this? Because she wants to create her own plague kingdom. Fortunately, she was sealed via a Purple Box for thousands of years but this also causes Higokumaru's consciousness to be sealed too.

Except it didn't last long because somehow she got free around 15th century of the New World, more than 52.000 years after she was sealed due to the people of Schicksal used the Purple Box which resulted on the Honkai beasts causes destruction across Europe. But this was also an opportunity for Erosion as this actions that Schicksal had performed would cause Erosion to spread a deadly pandemic called Black Death across the world, wiping the 1/3 of the population. Fortunately? She was sealed again in the Purple Box thanks to Otto Apocalypse. However, the Purple Box was brought to Japan by Otto's lover, Kallen Kaslana.

Arriving at Japan, the Herrscher then attempts to manipulate a village maiden named Yae Sakura while cursing her innocent village with hunger, poverty and diseases. This resulted on said village had no choice but to perform human sacrifices and most of the ones that got sacrificed were children. Using the village's religious beliefs, the Herrscher of the Erosion used the child sacrifices to grow stronger and regain her physical form. Erosion? Basks on their agony because why not and at one point, she did kidnap a child, tying her into the tree and then uses her as the resource for the Honkai Beasts to devour.

After this debacle, The Erosion used the Honkai beasts to attack the village and killing dozens of villagers to force the leaders of said village to start another child sacrifice. When the sacrifice was interrupted by Kallen Kaslana, Erosion had enough of her and crushed the child and ate his mother before taking over Sakura's body to taunt Kallen and proceeded to slaughter the whole village. When her vessel refused to kill Kallen, Erosion assumed her Fox form and devoured Yae Sakura right in front of lover. Fortunately, she was sealed again because Kallen showed a compassion to her for being part of her lover, Yae Sakura.

500 years later, when the S-Valkyrie Theresa Apocalypse (a clone of Kallen Kaslana created by Otto Apocalypse) was defeated by another Herrscher, the Erosion who was still sealed inside of the stigmata tried to bite off her throat while she was sleeping. As if it wasn't enough, the Herrscher of the Erosion, who was sealed inside of Kallen's stigmata alongside her vessel, used her powers to manipulate the artificial world of Kallen's stigmata to repeat the same day where Yae Sakura was forced to sacrifice her sister for 500 years just to get the flavor of revenge while claiming it was for the "greater good" of Yae Village. Assuming the appearance of her father, the Erosion daily abused Sakura when she dared to spoke against her, it becomes more evident when the Herrscher threw a rock at her head for trying to protect Theresa Apocalypse. To wreck havoc the artificial world, the Herrscher transformed all villagers of the Yae Village into zombies. She later attempts to escape again via freeing her old vessel and again possessing Higokumaru who now becomes a cute chibi like fox girl to kill Sakura for beating her once and still trying to accomplish her twisted goal of destroying humanity to spite Kallen's desires of protecting mankind. However, she was sealed in a powerful sword called Jizo Mitama and said sword was thrown inside Judah's Stigmata World. So yeah...Happy ending for her I guess lol!

Alright, so I initially dismissed Erosion because there's one scene that give me severe pause: In one scene, she accepts her defeat because Theresa shows a compassion by hugging her. And you could argue that this was because she was tortured and sealed by the scientist right?

No...Herrscher of the Erosion was an evil bastard to begin with and even if Theresa shows her a compassion, the Herrscher then go back into her own ways to cause some harm around her and tries to spite Kallen because why not? It was only then revealed the one who accepted her defeat was her old vessel, Higokumaro, who managed to take control of her body once again after receiving love. And it's established that Erosion was evil back then and still an evil bastard until now and the foreseeable future.

Now then, let's talk about the Herrscher itself. Herrscher is actually revealed to be an entity who fused themselves with a Houkai energy and this causes them to attempt the destruction of mankind including Erosion herself. Sounds like an agency problems isn't it? Nah! Here's the thing about them though: Most of them are capable of feeling human emotions and is aware of the morality that surrounded them. Any of the moral agency problems is dissipated when you have one of the Herrschers repent her ways and becoming a good friends with their vessel so yeah...

Aside that, Zip, Zilch, Nada! Well...Except for one thing.

Okay, now I won't sugarcoat it. Despite the lighthearted tone of the series, Honkai Impact 3rd has a really brutal heinous standard. Mainly because of the Herrschers roaming around with Void (Which I'll get into in foreseeable future since it's revealed that her arc still ongoing) being the worst of them all and that's saying something due to their attempt to destroy humanity. And yeah, people of the Schicksal and especially Otto are contributing to the heinous standard especially on Otto's case with him having experimented in hundreds of thousand women, bombed entire towns with nuclear missiles, sacrificed his own allies, killed his own niece, tortured hundreds of Valkyries, cloned his own granddaughter to rise her as a disposable puppet... So yeah, Honkai Impact has a rather brutal heinous standard to deal with.

But I should note something regarding Erosion, I think what makes her unique is that she tries to kill all the world via a pandemic just to create her plague kingdom. That and whether you think child murder/sacrifice is unique or not? I think what Erosion did to Yae's village regarding the sacrifice may pushes her over the line.

''VideoGame/{{Smite}}'' is a MOBA game created by Hi-Rez Studios. The story? Well, its a bit short but its mostly based on several mythologies across the world setting in the same world like Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, Nordic, Rome, Celtic and so on. Though despite this, there are several overhauls regarding the story and the role of the mythological figures as well. Now then, doing my resarch, I think Smite has several candidates to discuss from...One of them is from Chinese Mythology and you know who I'm talking about:

That's right...It's the main villain of ''Literature/FengshenYanyi'' who made her own appearance in TV Tropes. Say hello to Da Ji everyone!

Now, for those who don't know about who Da Ji is? Basically she's the main antagonist of the story called Fengshen Yanyi, a wicked fox spirit bewitched the King of China back then called King Zhou. Now, the reason why she ended up getting involved in King Zhou's life is that King Zhou has a perverted lust towards a beautiful goddess named Nu Wa which resulted on Nu Wa send the evil vixen to ruin King Zhou's life.

Except...Nu Wa didn't know that Da Ji was a rather malicious fox demon and has a penchant to cause several misery and destruction because why not? After becoming the wife of King Zhou, Da Ji then causes several havoc and misery across China and delighting in innocent's screams of pain. This resulted on people began to instigate a rebellion and overthrow King Zhou in which the latter ended up killing himself because he can't take it anymore. Da Ji however? Escapes unharmed and participates in the war between gods so that she could satiate her lust of pain.

None that given...Now, here's the thing about the original Da Ji from Fengshen Yanyi: In the original tale, she doesn't count as she was appalled when her relatives got skinned. That and several interpretations has her care for kids (Courtesy of Xie323). Here? She has no redeeming quality and any of the redeeming qualities that she had in some adaptations are crushed to oblivion and yes, she does have enough of a personality and that's being a sadistic girl she is. Now then, she would be an easy keep right. Exceeeeeept....

Here's where the problem lies on me if I want to qualify Da Ji despite I want her up so bad: The heinous standard. In her own pantheon? She's definitely heinous on her own but the issue? All of the mythologies are set in the same world so the heinous standard can be problematic as there are several Greek Gods, Egyptian Gods, Nordic Gods, Rome Gods, Mayan Gods, Hindu Gods or Celtic Gods who are awful themselves. (Ah Puch, Ra, Apophis, Bakasura, Scylla, Loki and Morrigan comes to mind when it comes to contribute to the gigantic heinous standard of the game).

Now how does Da Ji compared to other awful gods in the setting: I might say she compares decently given that she's a subordinate of Nu Wa with no resource in mind compared to other gods but she is able to perform a huge collateral damage across China and you could argue that her penchant on making people suffer is the thing that made her stand out a little but I'm still torn on this one.

Hanzo Hattori is initially presented as a polite person from U.N. Providential Government Security Council who is introduced by trying to stop a Group of Ten with a Yakuza and kidnaps the hero's sister, Sena Hoshimiya, to cause the Second Great Destruction. However, he revealed himself to be something worse. After Sena intends to cause the Second Great Destruction, Hattori then becomes the right hand man of Sena as he gleefully participating in starting the Second Great Destruction by performing a coup d'etat with Sena and stopping the heroes to defeat the Eldritch Abomination that Sena summoned known as God. It was revealed that he did all of this because the idea of causing pain at massive scale amuses him.
