Stardust's choices are to surrender Rhok'zan's grimoire to Kidd, perform the Uprooting anyway and kill up to 5 innocent people, or (as Rhok'zan points out) [[TakeAThirdOption kill Kidd after performing the Uprooting to break his control over his fans]]. In the chapter's normal ending, [[spoiler:Stardust takes the second option, but not before calling out Kidd's attempt to lay the blame for his actions on her]]. In the true ending, [[spoiler:Stardust takes a ''fourth'' option by managing to break everyone's mind control before performing the Uprooting]].

* ''VisualNovel/YourTurnToDie'' is all about this, with Sara and the other participants forced to contend with various deadly games, with the worst of the lot asking them to determine who dies through a majority vote -- with the added wrinkle that one among them has been placed into an even more precarious position. Much like in ''TabletopGame/Werewolf1986'', some of the players have hidden roles, and if someone in a particular role gets the most votes, they'll win... at the cost of everyone else getting executed (save one person of their choice). But if they ''don't'' get the most votes, both they ''and'' whoever got the majority vote will die.

Makoto didn't know for sure that Kyoko is innocent and had no way of knowing that Monokuma would stop the trial when he's under fire. Therefore the choice isn't "who dies, Makoto or Kyoko" as the example suggests, but whether to trust Kyoko or not.

** ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc'' also gives you a SadisticChoice in Chapter 5, where Kyoko, who's been Makoto's closest ally thus far, is trying to fend off suspicion of herself being the murderer, even if it means that the suspicion falls on ''Makoto'' instead. * Common throughout the ''VisualNovel/ZeroEscape'' franchise, but the final game, ''VisualNovel/ZeroTimeDilemma'', is based on these with the "Decision Game" repeatedly foisted on the characters. Does Diana risk blowing Sigma's brains out in order to save Phi, who is trapped in an incinerator? This is just one example of many.

* Common throughout the ''VisualNovel/ZeroEscape'' franchise, but the final game, ''VisualNovel/ZeroTimeDilemma'', is pretty much ''entirely'' based on these with the "Decision Game" repeatedly foisted on the characters. Does Diana risk blowing Sigma's brains out Probably the most sadistic example (and the one which got boxart prominence in order to save Phi, who Japan) is the one forced upon D-Team in the Incinerator Room. Phi is trapped in an incinerator? This the incinerator with a time limit before it activates, while Sigma is just one example restrained in a chair with a revolver pointed at his head. To unlock the door to the incinerator, Diana must fire the revolver, which is half-filled with blanks and half-filled with live rounds. She can either save Phi but have a 50% chance of many.

* ''VisualNovel/YourTurnToDie'' is all about this, with Sara and the other participants forced to contend with various deadly games, with the worst of the lot asking them to determine who dies through a majority vote -- with the added wrinkle that one among them has been placed into an even more precarious position. Much like in ''TabletopGame/{{Werewolf}}'', some of the players have hidden roles, and if someone in a particular role gets the most votes, they'll win... at the cost of everyone else getting executed (save one person of their choice). But if they ''don't'' get the most votes, both they ''and'' whoever got the majority vote will die.
