* SmallNameBigEgo: Levin asks Bykov to give him more important task, as he's not a nurse (clearly meaning that such work is beneath him); he doesn't care at all that Lyuba (head nurse) is nearby and can hear him. Bykov immediately puts him on his place by saying that yes, he's not a nurse: he's yet to grow up to that. He then tests Levin by giving him hypothetical crisis situations, which Levin fails utterly due to panicking and failing to respond in time.

* ConversationCut: At the start of the episode Kupitman and Bykov are discussing Bykov's interns. While Kupitman thinks that they are not that bad, Bykov insist that they are complete morons. The camera cuts to interns and their screwups, though given that it's [[UnreliableExpositor Bykov]] who narrates the scene, it may or may not be exaggeration.

* MovingTheGoalposts: Just when Levin (on a second try) trains to perform first aid during heart attack, Bykov gives him entirely different task, which Levin fails again due to not remembering required information in time. When Levin tries to say that it's "not fair", Bykov points that [[JustifiedTrope real emergencies wouldn't care whether he's ready or not]]: academic knowledge worth nothing if you fail to save the patient.

* TooDumbToLive: While Semyon is lucky that his patient actually has a mere chickenpox, him not bothering with wearing gloves when examining a patient (especially a patient who's suspected to have infectious disease) is not only a serious safety violation, but also a major risk of being infected himself, which, in other circumstances, could've been actually dangerous. Kupitman is fully right in punishing him, even if his method ultimately backfires.
* TVGenius: Bykov decides to test Levin and his ability to act in emergency situations, when Levin has no time to react; Levin performs less than stellar.
** When Bykov asks Levin about required treatment for one of the patients, he answers correctly. Then Bykov gives him another task and limits his time to respond. Levin fails miserably.

** Bykov suddenly chokes on sandwich, forcing Levin to try and save him... only for Bykov to reveal that he's fine, and that Levin has failed [[RuleOfThree yet again]]: while he reacted in time, he botched the technique, and started beating him in attempts to "reanimate" him. Bykov sends him to the morgue to do paper work, since there he wouldn't hurt anyone else.

During discussion about the new interns, Kupitman asks to "borrow" one of them for a day, since he is bored, while Bykov has four interns he wants to get rid of. Bykov "gives" him Lobanov, who doesn't want to do anything at all anyway.

Gleb comes from a night club, still suffering from hangover, just shortly before Bykov. He and Varya are assigned to work together... except Gleb plans to just lie and do nothing, leaving all the work to Varya. Varya disagrees, and injects him with caffeine, insuring that he can't possibly fall asleep any time soon. He, in turn, injects her with sedatives. Fearing that Bykov would see her, he hides her on a gurney, covered by a blanket. Bykov sends Gleb to finally do his task, while orderlies moves Varya to the morgue.

Bykov decides to test Levin by himself, to see how he would perform in critical situation, but he fails miserably. Bykov sends Levin to work at the morgue, just in time for Varya to awake.

Meanwhile, Lobanov examines a patient with chickenpox without gloves, and Kupitman, to teach him a lesson, tells him that he is now infected with a deadly disease; the only cure is a rectal suppository (which Kupitman stuffed with red pepper), and there's only one dose. Prank goes out of control when Lobanov decides to "save" his patient instead of himself.

* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: In beginning of the episode, Levin [[LongList lists all the possible diseases matching his patient's symptoms]]. When he finishes the list with simple food poisoning, the patient finally faints.

We immediately learn that patient is disabled, but Gleb doesn't see anything wrong with this. Though it's impossible to say whether it's real event, or [[UnreliableExpositor Bykov made it up]].
* TheKlutz: In beginning of the episode, Varya can't even make a simple injection right, somehow managing to drop the syringe in the way that it [[EpicFail falls and gets stuck]] (vertically) in the patient's buttock (without patient noticing).

* KnowNothingKnowItAll: Levin, as always. Bykov decides to test him. When he asks Levin about required treatment for one of the patients, he answers correctly. Then Bykov decides to test how he would act in critical situation, when his time to react would be extremely limited. He fails miserably.
** When Bykov leaves, Levin tries to learn how perform required action automatically... only to Bykov replacing situation he is prepared to with new one. He fails once again.
** And [[RuleOfThree then]] he fails to save Bykov himself when he chokes with sandwich, because he reacts in time, but uses ''wrong'' technique, and starts beating him in attempts to "reanimate" him. Bykov sends him to morgue to do paper work, since there he wouldn't hurt anyone else.
