* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: Bad Janet is remarkably calm when saying that Shawn rebooted her ''40 million times'' --and rebooting is painful for the Janet in question--to modify her so that she can impersonate Good Janet.

* ArtInitiatesLife: The gang play Magic Pictionary, in which their drawings come to life. Unfortunately, when your drawing skills are as bad as Chidi's, this has horrific results.

* LaserGuidedKarma: Quite accidentally, Bad Janet has been exposed to more of Brent's harassment than Good Janet has. And she was sent in to sabotage the place but has suffered more because Bad Janets literally melt normally when trying to be helpful.

** Jason seems to have grown a lot in this episode, asking relevant interrogation questions to Michael and Glenn (for the most part), figuring out that a bad Janet was currently impersonating the Janet they knew, and bravely deciding to go to the Bad Place to rescue his not girlfriend.
** Also, oddly enough, Bad Janet. The reason Michael had to use an actual Good Janet for his fake neighborhood was because, initially, Bad Janet couldn't pretend to be good without literally blowing up. But now Bad Janet has become much craftier and manipulative, and has given a fairly convincing performance as Good Janet.
** If Glenn is telling the truth, he's started to question the entire purpose of the Bad Place just as Michael did.
** Michael gets one for ''not'' marbleizing bad Janet after determining she's an impostor and getting all the information they need from her. Before he'd be quite callous to the Bad Janets, marbleizing one that our Janet needed to impersonate.

* ConditionedToAcceptHorror: Bad Janet is remarkably calm when saying that Shawn rebooted her ''40 million times'' -- and rebooting is painful for the Janet in question-- to make her smart enough to impersonate reboot Janet.

* HeroicSacrifice: Michael is prepared to...well, [[{{pun}} liquidate]] himself when he's convinced that the gang is not going to trust him in order to ensure that the experiment goes smoothly. Thankfully, Jason exposes Janet as the real imposter just in time.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: If Glenn's plan was to sabotage the experiment, then it backfires by exposing that reboot-Janet was kidnapped.

* TaughtByExperience: Just as Good Janet learned to pretend to be bad, Bad Janet learned to pretend to be good. Or at least she was reprogrammed to not combust when told to be good.

* WhamEpisode: It wasn't Michael who was kidnapped and replaced with a demon on the train...it was ''Janet'', which is why everything she had been suggesting to the group thus far had been pulverizing things! And what's worse... the real Janet is in the Bad Place!

* StatingTheSimpleSolution: Michael ''could'' take off his suit and prove it's him, except he's worried his true form may traumatize the humans. Plus, it's not exactly a verification since presumably Vicky has the same true form underneath her skin.

* NearVillainVictory: Michael was seconds away from vaporizing himself, which would have cost the humans a close friend and left them alone running the experiment with Bad Janet free to continue sabotaging them, which would have left the experiment more likely to fail then ever.

* AmbiguousSituation: It's unclear if Glenn is pulling a HeelFaceTurn or was creating a new mind game for them in an attempt at torture or getting Michael out of the picture.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: If Glenn's plan was to sabotage the experiment, then it backfired by exposing that reboot-Janet was kidnapped.

* SpannerInTheWorks: If this was Glenn being a real defector, then he undid one of the Bad Place's more sinister machinations by accident.
* SpoiledByTheCastList: Glenn being the hooded figure can be gleaned from the previous episode, where he is listed in its closing credits but does not appear in the episode otherwise.
