* HurtingHero: Modern Leonardo again shows that he's fully aware of the burden he's carrying, and Splinter easily senses something is wrong with him.

* TalkingToHimself: Modern Donatello and 1987 Raphael argue over who has the weirder sounding voice. Both are voiced by Creator/RobPaulsen.

** According to the show runners, the 80s Turtles who appear in this crossover are alternate universe counterparts to the ones who met the '03 Turtles. Which make sense, as this bunch appear to be far more...competent.

* TheEarthPrimeTheory: As in ''WesternAnimation/TurtlesForever'', [[spoiler:there is an attempt to destroy the Mirage comics reality in order to destroy all the other realities.]]

* OutOfFocus: April and Casey's only screentime in this episode was during the intro...[[UpToEleven and they were asleep.]]

* StatingTheSimpleSolution: Raphael questions why they simply don't destroy the pieces of the Black Hole Generator pieces they already have to prevent their use. Donatello retorts that the Triceratons could still reverse engineer the technology from only one piece and Fugitoid hints that his plan to destroy them is a one use thing so they need to have all three pieces destroyed at once.

* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: A downplayed example, but the 1987 Leonardo is a much more confident leader than 2012 Leo is. This is most obvious when the eight turtles prepare attack 1987 Krang, and the other turtles follow 1987 Leonardo's battle plan and pretty much ignore 2012 Leo's protests that 1987 Leo not give orders to his team.

* IntraFranchiseCrossover: This is the second time in the franchise in which its succeeding iterations are in a Crossover with its preceding counterparts.

* FixFic: An official one for ''Turtles Forever''. While the creators don't disown that version (stating it's more that version was an alternate of the 80's Turtles). This episode seeks to avoid the pratfalls of that special by actually showing the 80's Turtles as just as competent as the 2012 ones while still keeping the spirit of that version intact and with more respect to the original series.

* MediumBlending: Scenes set in the 1987 cartoon's reality are depicted in 2D Flash animation meant to imitate the hand-drawn style of the original series, albeit [[OffModel rather unconvincingly]]. Scenes set in the 2012 cartoon's reality are depicted in the modern 3D CGI animation. We get to see both sets of Turtles translated into the other art style. [[spoiler: The Mirage comics universe is depicted as still image comic book panels thsat mova like a MotionComic, though the other Turtles, in this case both of the Dons, are still rendered in their native art styles.]]

* ArtShift: The 1987 New York is animated in 2D that is quite noticeably OffModel to the original series. The Mirage-verse turtles are drawn in their usual style and move like a MotionComic while both Dons are rendered in the styles of their respective universes when they make their detour there.

The Turtles are summoned to the universe of the [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1987 1980s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]] cartoon, where they team up with the Turtles of that cartoon against their respective versions of Krang.

* CanonDiscontinuity: The events of ''WesternAnimation/TurtlesForever'' are not acknowledged here. There are, however, some plot similarities, particularly [[spoiler: an attempt to destroy the Mirage comics universe in order to destroy all the others]]. Although it could theoretically take place before Turtles Forever from the perspective of the 1987 turtles. * LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Thirteen minutes into the episode, the Donnies tell the other turtles there are only nine minutes left before all the bombs are set to go off. This equals to twenty-two minutes total, which is the length of the total episode.
* LetsYouAndHimFight: The 2012 and the 87 turtles fight briefly when they meet although the 87 turtles were specifically trying to get the 2012 turtles help, 2012 Raph immediately assumes the device 87 Donnie had was a weapon.
* LoopholeAbuse: 1987 Krang uses Kraang Sub-Prime's desire to kill the Turtles as license to destroy the entire [[Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles Multiverse]]. After his plans are revealed and Kraang Sub-Prime gets pissed off, he even says, "You told me you wanted the turtles destroyed at any cost."

** The first time 1987 Leo yells 'Turtle Power', the screen splits into a four-way cut of the 1987 turtles that perfectly mirrors their character select screen poses from the [[VideoGame/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesTheArcadeGame first arcade game]].

** Pretty much ''WesternAnimation/TurtlesForever'' condensed into a 20-minute episode instead of a 90-minute movie, and having the 2012 turtles take the place of the '03 turtles. Some of the interactions like Modern Raph making fun of the belt buckles, or the two Mikes getting along are the same, as well as the Prime Turtles being the most aggressive and their universe being the lynchpin that holds it all together. This makes it odd that the '87 turtles don't comment at all on going through this before, unless from their perspective this episode happened first. But then that opens up plot holes for why they don't comment on going through it before in ''WesternAnimation/TurtlesForever''. See CanonDiscontinuity above.

** It's just a shame that the sequel crossover, ''Wanted: Bebop and Rocksteady'', went and threw away some of that progress.
