* BothSidesHaveAPoint: Leaving aside the destructive ramifications, both Yellow and Blue Diamond have valid views on grieving. Blue believes in holding onto and preserving things that belonged to a loved one, while Yellow counsels against being obsessed with the past and burial in grief, believing in the necessity of letting things go. Naturally, each of them carries their belief to extremes: Blue has been in mourning for ''thousands'' of years, while Yellow wants to destroy everything related to Pink Diamond in order to forget her grief, from the entire Rose Quartz line to Earth itself.

Pearl hops down from the ship and gets right into Agate's face and points out why running and telling the Diamonds while was never a good idea, but now that the jig is up, telling them will only make Agate herself look foolish, losing to 3 gems, a human, a harmonica, but that she will lose face because those rogue gems also bested her. Steven and Pearl complete the "that will be all" ritual and take off for Earth again.

* VisualPun: when Blue Diamond says that she never asked any Sapphire to go to Earth, the latter begins to FREEZE UP on the part of the floor that she was standing on.

** VisualPun: A lampshaded one. She's FREEZING UP.

* FiveStagesOfGrief: Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond exhibit all but the final stages when it comes to how they cope with the loss of Pink Diamond. Yellow Diamond represses her emotions (Denial) and wants to eradicate any reminders of Pink Diamond (Anger) while Blue Diamond maintains all things that remind her of Pink Diamond (Bargaining) and is seen openly weeping over her loss (Depression). Neither are anywhere near Acceptance yet.

* FiveStagesOfGrief: Yellow Diamond and Blue Diamond exhibit four of the five stages when it comes to how they cope with the loss of Pink Diamond. Yellow Diamond represses her emotions (Denial) and wants to eradicate any reminders of Pink Diamond (Anger) while Blue Diamond maintains all things that remind her of Pink Diamond (Bargaining) and is seen openly weeping over her loss (Depression). Neither are anywhere near Acceptance yet.

Once that moment of relief passes, the rest of the Famethyst, as our Amethyst has come to call her sister/cousin Amethyts (plus Skinny!Jasper and Carnelian) allows them all to leave so they can get back to the Roaming Eye and make their escape.

In the meantime, Ruby and Sapphire are touring with Holly Blue Agate until they come face to face with Blue Diamond herself. Sapphire thinks quickly and insists their purpose for being here is to bring Blue Diamond more specimins for the Zoo. As Steven and Greg try to make their escape, they run into a chamber where Blue and Yellow Diamond are talking. Steven begins to weep blue's tears again as the former tells the Latter she wants to hold on to as much of Pink Diamond as she can. Yellow Diamond's position is that they're all terrible reminders which should be destroyed to stop them having to see them and be reminded. There's an entire room of bubbled Rose Quartz gems above them. As the pair break into a heartwrenched musical number, Steven and Greg make their way to the doors.

Finally the Gems, Steven and Greg are all united again. Holly Blue Agate sees this and at first does not accept this is an escape/rescue. The Famythst is there, waving an enthusiastic goodbye. Ruby and Sapphire merge back into Garnet, at which point Agate finally speaks up, threatening to tell yellow diamong.

* SelfMadeOrphan: It's revealed that ''all'' the Rose Quartz Gems were made by Pink Diamond...including ''our'' Rose. Meaning Rose, in shattering Pink Diamond to save the Earth, killed the closest thing she had to a mother.

* {{Ahem}}: Yellow Pearl does this twice before singing the song.

*** Rose said that a gem comes from its incubation hole with its life's purpose already programmed in. It's not a big leap of logic to be concerned that the rebelliousness may be a "glitch in the code" so to speak.

* DepthDeception: During one shot in "What's the Use of Feeling Blue", the Pearls seem badly out of scale with Yellow Diamond, until it's shown that Yellow Diamond's hand is holding them much closer to the camera.

* DualMeaningChorus: The title line of "[[VillainSong What's the Use of Feeling Blue]]". It can either be interpreted as 'What's the use of feeling blue?' or 'What's the use of feeling, Blue?' due to Yellow Diamond referring to Blue Diamond by her first name exclusively. Given the situation, both meanings resonate: the first as Yellow asking Blue what's the point in still being sad, the second asking Blue what's [[TheStoic the point of feeling in general]], fitting Yellow's desire to forget Pink Diamond so she'll stop hurting.

* FantasticCasteSystem: In "What's The Use of Feeling Blue", we learn that Agate Gems like Holly Blue are apparently ''made'' to be the BadBoss type and terrify the Gems they command, and Lapis Gems are made to [[HostileTerraforming terraform]] colony worlds.

* PunnyName: The title of the VillainSong "What's the Use of Feeling Blue" works both ways, as mentioned above. Yellow Diamond is trying to get Blue Diamond to move on and stop her endless mourning, by using her own coping method of suppressing her feelings and destroying all reminders of Pink Diamond.

* ShockAndAwe: Blue Holly wields an electrified whip. Unfortunately for her, it's useless against Garnet, whose own electric gauntlet allows her to grab the end of the whip.

* VillainSong: Yellow Diamond's "What's the Use of Feeling Blue," with accompaniment from Yellow and Blue Pearls, as she tries to convince Blue Diamond to just forget Pink Diamond and how she wants the Earth gone so she could forget.

*** it appears that Quartz gems of a certain type share personality traits. The Famethyst share Crystal Gem Amethyst's boisterousness, playfulness, and love of pranks, even including Skinny Jasper and Carnelian.

* BoyishShortHair: Unlike every other Quartz at the Zoo, "Skinny" has short hair, though it's still unkempt and spiky like her sisters'.

* MinionWithAnFInEvil: The Amethysts, Skinny Jasper, and Carnelian are all happy-go-lucky and somewhat goofy, instantly getting along with their long-lost "sister" and playing a prank on Steven and Greg with her. Several of them are from the Beta Kindergarten and thus have defects, leading them to be frequently chastised by Holly Blue Agate. When the Crystal Gems are boarding the ship to escape, they don't try to stop them and instead wave them off while laughing at Holly Blue for being thoroughly trounced by their "defective" sister.

* KickTheDog: Just to remind the audience that Blue Diamond is still tyrant we see her treat both Holly Blue and Sapphire with ''disdain'' her face is just plain cruel when talking to those Gems beneath her.

* SealedGoodInACan: The entire line of Rose Quartz Gems is kept bubbled in Pink Diamond's room on the station, as it's feared any one of them could be as rebellious as the one that shattered Pink Diamond. Yellow Diamond wants to destroy them, but Blue refuses to destroy something unique to Pink Diamond.

* DualMeaningChorus: The title line of "[[VillainSong What's the Use of Feeling Blue]]". It can either be interpreted as [[FunWithHomophones 'What's the use of feeling blue?' or 'What's the use of feeling, Blue?']] due to Yellow Diamond referring to Blue Diamond by her first name exclusively. Given the situation, both meanings resonate: the first as Yellow asking Blue what's the point in still being sad, the second asking Blue what's [[TheStoic the point of feeling in general]], fitting Yellow's desire to forget Pink Diamond so she'll stop hurting.

* ContinuityNod: In "Beta", Peridot points to a hole in the Beta Kindergarten where a "Carnelian came out sideways". A Carnelian appears working at the Zoo, and she's nearly as short as Amethyst. Further, a skinny Beta Jasper is met, just like the one Amethyst pointed out in her rant.

* CharacterDevelopment: Sapphire is able to lie convincingly to Blue and Yellow Diamond, when back in "Hit the Diamond" she blew the Gems' cover by flirting with Ruby and fusing with her by accident.

* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Blue Diamond doesn't find it suspicious that a Ruby and a Sapphire belonging to her have appeared. She obviously doesn't remember those two Gems defecting for love thousands of years ago, even though it was the beginning of Garnet.

* HellIsThatNoise: The harmony that Yellow and Blue Pearl start to sing is quite eerie.

* YouAreNumberSix: Amethyst's 'sisters' are addressed by number like Peridot showed earlier. Amethyst also finds out her number is Facet 5, Cut [=8XM=]. She's excited about learning her numerical designation, since it means that the others remember her.

* BeneathSuspicion: Holly Blue is not at all suspicious of Sapphire and her "consorts" even as she sees them clearly helping two humans board their ship, assuming the humans just escaped on their own due to the incompetence of the Homeworld Amethysts.

* BoyishShortHair: Unlike every Quartz at the Zoo, "Skinny" has short hair, though it's still unkempt and spiky like her sisters'.

* RevengeByProxy: Yellow Diamond's desire to shatter the bubbled Rose Quartzes seems partially based in not being able to capture and shatter the Rose Quartz that we know in retribution for Pink Diamond's death, and thus desiring to take it out on the rest of the Gem type.

* ButForMeItWasTuesday: Blue Diamond doesn't find it suspicious that a Ruby and a Sapphire belonging to her have appeared. She obviously doesn't remember those two gems defecting for love thousands of years ago, even though it was the beginning of Garnet.

* CharacterDevelopment: Sapphire is able to lie convincingly to Blue and Yellow Diamond, when back in "Hit the Diamond" she blew the Gem's cover by flirting with Ruby and fusing with her by accident.

* DepthDeception: During one shot in "What's the Use of Feeling Blue" the Pearls seem badly out of scale with Yellow Diamond, until you notice her hand is holding them much closer to the camera.

** Steven's eyes tear up right before Blue Diamond appears in the rose quartz room, which gives him and Greg enough of a warning to hide.

* ThrowTheDogABone: Amethyst gets to meet her 'sisters' from the prime and beta kindergartens, and they love her. After Amethyst's sense of inadequacy in season three, she's able to take joy in finding others like her. The "Famethyst" also helps her smuggle Steven and Greg out of Blue Holly's sight.
