** For most of the series, Ruby and Saphire's love for one another and how much it pains them to be un-fused is treated as adorable and romantic. Here, their constant flirting nearly costs them the game and their accidental re-fusing outs them to the other Rubies.

** Ruby's infiltration of the Homeworld Rubies simply consists of her joining up beside them... and that's about it, with the other Rubies simply mistaking her as being part of their original five (mostly from the Ruby Leader forgetting to count ''herself'').

* BadLiar: Ruby and Steven. Fortunately, the Rubies they're lying to are dim-witted and very gullible.

* TheDitz: The Rubies are incredibly dense, failing to properly count how many of them are in their squad and buying Ruby and Steven's lies even though they're pretty obvious. Leggy in particular is lacking, even compared to the others, [[ForgetfulJones forgetting what the mission they were supposed to be doing even was]].

* TalkingToHimself: Charlene Yi voices every Ruby in the series, which means she plays half the characters in this episode by herself. Especially impressive as she gives each of the six characters a distinct vocal personality that makes them easy to tell apart.

* InsultFriendlyFire: Amethyst amusedly comments that "Rubies are dumb" while standing next to Garnet--and by extension Ruby. [[SubvertedTrope She is not offended]], and she doesn't even fully disagree, just saying that not ALL of them are stupid.

** "Our" Ruby is little better, unsubtly trying to convince the others not to search the barn with a SuspiciouslySpecificDenial. She has no subtlety whatsoever in her methods to try to infiltrate the other Rubies and only succeeds because they're even stupider than she is.

* RealityEnsues: Pearl doesn't see the problem with Peridot insulting Yellow Diamond and had to be reminded that it was an insult directed to someone with authority over all of Homeworld's military resources that practices EvilIsPetty. It's just a stroke of luck that Peridot wasn't the one being searched for.

* TheLastOfTheseIsNotLikeTheOthers: The Crystal Gems choose human names similar to their real names: Pearl is "Earl", Amethyst is "Amy", Sapphire is "Sophie", and Lapis is... "Bob".

* NotWorthKilling: Yellow Diamond seems to have gotten over Peridot betraying and insulting her, as the Ruby Squad only want to know Jasper's location and leave peacefully once they have it. This goes hand-in-hand with the implication that Peridots are barely above Pearls in the gem hierarchy, and thus not worth spending any real effort dealing with, unlike the much higher-ranked and thus vastly more important Jasper.
** On the other hand, YD has no way of knowing that Peridot survived the explosion of the communicator, since the actual transmission cut out before it destructed. She could just believe that problem is already taken care of.
** Yellow Diamond considering Peridot not worth the effort of killing is likely the case considering the implication that Peridots are barely above Pearls in the gem hierarchy combined with the fact [[spoiler:that Peridot reveals in "Too Short to Ride" that she's an "Era 2" Peridot. An "Era 2" Peridot is one made with fewer resources and thus lacking many natural gem powers like shapeshifting or gem manifestation (replacing them with tech), which causes them to be deemed weaker than "Era 1" Peridots, further diminishing her worth the effort of terminating/capturing compared to Jasper, who is likely an "Era 1" Jasper considering she fought in the war]].

* TheHeart: Stomach Ruby. The most serene and peaceful Ruby in the squad.
