* BittersweetEnding: While the rebuilt hub stays smashed in the end, Pearl and Garnet are not speaking to each other.

* WhamEpisode: Big time. Pearl and Garnet's fusion, Sardonyx, is seen for the very first time, Pearl repeatedly tricks Garnet into fusing with her by rebuilding the communication and making it look like Jasper did it, and once this comes out Garnet is so furious that by the end of the episode the two aren't on speaking terms and Steven and Amethyst can only hope for things to get better, marking the first serious rift between the Gems as a whole.

* DoubleMeaningTitle: "Cry for Help" is both what Peridot is doing in her distress call, and what Pearl is doing in her behavior.

* AbnormalLimbRotationRange: Sardonyx's body appears to be in stacked segments that can rotate.
* AnimalMotifs: Sardonyx has a bit of a dragonfly theme to her, the light from her fusion even forms some.

* DropTheHammer: Sardonyx's weapon fuses Pearl's spear and Garnet's power fists into a giant mallet.
* EasilyForgiven: Zig-zagged. The characters o "Crying Breakfast Friends" forgive each other pretty easily, and Steven agrees with their sentiment, but Garnet doesn't forgive Pearl for what she did (at least by the time the episode is over).

** The second time the tower is rebuilt, there's no message, hinting that Pearl is the one rebuilding it so she can fuse with Garnet. Pearl also comes through the door right as the static starts, implying that she just got back from repairing it.

* MyGreatestFailure: Amethyst feels that Sugilite going out of control back in "Coach Steven" is hers, since she got carried away because they hadn't fused in so long and she loved the PowerHigh she got when they did so. During her song, she even says "I see a tower built out of my mistakes".

Peridot sends out a distress message to Yellow Diamond on TV, which Steven confirms is happening all over by calling Connie, who also sees the message. The Crystal Gems and Steven go to the communication hub, which was last seen in [[Reccap/StevenUniverseS1E20CoachSteven Coach Steven]]. Peridot has rebuilt it, but since the last time Garnet and Amethyst formed Sugalite was a disaster, she decides to fuse with Pearl instead and form Sardonyx.

* RealityEnsues: Garnet is very angry with Pearl for tricking her, not to mention that messing with fusion is something of a BerserkButton, so of there wouldn't be any resolution in a single episode.
