* AlwaysSomeoneBetter: ZigZagged. Rick casually proclaims himself on the same level as the dinosaurs, but though they don't brag about it, they seemingly prove him wrong with their far superior technology. They even have portal technology and traveled the multiverse, before deciding to focus on their universe of origin. However, Rick very quickly understands their tech and adapts his own to counter it, to the point that in the episodes climax the Dinosaurs are powerless to move him away against his will.

* GoodIsBoring: The leaders of the world concede control to the dinosaurs knowing that if they refused the world's impoverished would overthrow them. Eventually though, everyone gets tired of the utopian existence the dinosaurs usher in. When the dinos are forced to leave, newspapers say everyone is far less happy and problems are worse than ever, just like they like it.

* WontGetFooledAgain: The dinosaurs casually zap Rick and Morty back to the garage when they tire of Rick. Later on, when Rick joins them on Mars, they try it again but the beam dissipates against a barrier, Rick explaining that he "dino-proofed" his tech just in case.

* FutureImperfect: Each of the [[RuleOfThree three]] alien planets the dinosaurs colonized in the past, where they have all since gone extinct from asteroid collisions, have their own seemingly-terrible theories about what the dinos were like and what they used the asteroid crater for (not understanding that the asteroid is what killed them all): the first planet's life speculates that the crater was an amphitheater where they would sing and perform, the second planet thinks it was a communal "soup bowl" where they shared meals, and the third theorizes that it was a skateboarding arena. Well, at least there was some truth about the last one [[BrickJoke as revealed]] in TheStinger.

* YankTheDogsChain: After discovering that the rest of the Smith family have nothing else to do since the dinosaurs arrived, Jerry is inspired to finish his manuscript and have it published. The dinosaurs present the book later and plan to have it distributed across the globe. To Jerry's ire, however, the books would be literally given away for free, and his name would be left out because they think the author is "above needing credit". The end of the episode has Jerry desperately trying to make a new book, but is completely dejected to even start.

* RealAfterAll: Each of the [[RuleOfThree three]] alien planets the dinosaurs colonized in the past, where they have all since gone extinct from asteroid collisions, have their own seemingly-terrible theories about what the dinos were like and what they used the asteroid crater for (not understanding that the asteroid is what killed them all): the first planet's life speculates that the crater was an amphitheater where they would sing and perform, the second planet thinks it was a communal "soup bowl" where they shared meals, and the third theorizes that it was a skateboarding arena. Come TheStinger, we find that the dinosaurs ''do'' actually enjoy shredding on skateboards.

* EpicFail: On the third alien planet that the dinosaurs colonized, which claims that they were a species that loved to skateboard, Rick decides to ride a skateboard down from the top of the crater to the bottom to investigate, a la ''Pro Skater 3''. He immediately screws it up and falls the entire way down, since, as Morty points out, that's actually one of the hardest moves in skateboarding.

* HobbesWasRight: The leaders of the world concede control to the dinosaurs knowing that if they refused the world's impoverished would overthrow them. Eventually though, everyone gets tired of the utopian existence the dinosaurs usher in. When the dinos are forced to leave, newspapers say everyone is far less happy and problems are worse than ever, just like they like it.

* ItOnlyWorksOnce: The dinosaurs casually zap Rick and Morty back to the garage when they tire of Rick. Later on, when Rick joins them on Mars, they try it again but the beam dissipates against a barrier, Rick explaining that he "dino-proofed" his tech just in case.

** The hateful meteors targeting the altruistic dinosaurs presents a relatively mundane kind of CosmicHorrorStory. A utopia can never last because a massive rock drifting somewhere in space that hates everything will sense the dinos' selflessness somehow and be driven to destroy their planets to extinguish all life. These meteors can be destroyed, but the dinosaurs are ''so'' all-loving that they won't even do so in self-defense, only in order to save another life form besides themselves.

** Morty says the dinosaurs "kicked pedophiles off Website/TikTok" and as a result Summer's videos are getting zero views or likes, [[DontExplainTheJoke implying the platform is nothing but predators]].

* BalanceOfGoodAndEvil: The show gives a ScienceFiction version of the concept with the dinosaurs and the sentient meteors. While the dinosaurs evolved into "higher and higher levels of loving vegan godhood, another life-form devolved into an equally selfless hate-filled species of barely-sentient rocks" that seek out the dinosaurs as a form of AnimalJingoism, crashing into every planets that the dinosaurs colonize.

* OhCrap: Beth complains how the dinosaurs fixing everything has left everyome content but unemployed. She then expresses a PrecisionFStrike when Rick summarizes that she, and the rest of the family, is now at Jerry's level with nothing to do.

** In this episode, the dinosaurs return to Earth from their interstellar travels and quickly turn human society into a utopia, solving all the world's conflicts and inequality. As several of the characters quickly realize, [[DeusExMachina having no conflict and all your problems solved by an outside force]] is [[VictoryIsBoring incredibly boring]], so everything is undone about three-quarters into the episode.

* VomitIndiscretionShot: Rick sending Morty through a multitude of portals to celebrate fixing the portal network causes Morty to vomit on the floor while in flight.

* OhCrap: Beth complains how the dinosaurs fixing everything has left them content but unemployed. She then expresses a PrecisionFStrike when Rick summarizes that she is now at Jerry's level.

** The Dinosaurs end up on ''The Joe Rogan Experience'' during their press circuit to discuss the asteroid heading for earth. Joe Rogan (wearing a "DMT-Rex" t-shirt and drinking cans of CBD beer) suggests that the asteroid doesn't exist and then completely changes the subject by offering to show the dinosaurs a "rear naked chokehold."

** The last planet Rick and Morty visit that the dinosaurs previously worked on has the paleontologist explaining to them that they plan on producing a series of [[{{Sequelitis}} increasingly terrible movies]] about dinosaurs being revived through cloning and presented in a public zoo. %%in-universe

* JustTheIntroductionToTheOpposites: Rick demonstrates his restored portal tech by portaling in a walking tophat person that wears a tiny human on its head.

** When Rick first demonstrated his glitchy new portal gun to Morty, the portal he opens has the cthulhu-esque creature from the opening credits stick its head through and roars. Rick wards it off with a spray bottle like it's a naughty cat.
** A relatively mundane kind of CosmicHorrorStory presents in the implications of the hateful meteors targeting the altruistic dinosaurs. A utopia can never last because a massive rock drifting somewhere in space that hates everything will sense the selflessness somehow and be drive to kamikaze the planet it's coming from to extinguish all life. Fortunately these meteors can be destroyed.
* NotMeThisTime: Morty is such a DoomMagnet that his high school has a duck-and-cover protocol whenever he actually comes to class. A huge alien ship suddenly appears above the school (and in other locales around the world), Mr. Goldenfold angrily demands to know what Morty did ''this'' time. Morty tells him he didn't do anything, and he actually didn't this time.

* OmnicidalManiac: The dinosaurs are so advanced, altruistic, and humble, that their mere existence attracts the attention of their living antithesis, being which evolved into the most primitive, hate-filled, and destructive life-forms possible, sentient meteorites which have devoted their entire existence to annihilating the dinosaurs and everything they fix.
* PassiveAggressiveKombat: The undertone of Rick's conflict with the dinosaurs. They sincerely want to help, Rick considers himself equal to them and resents any implication he needs their help. After he forces their hand to save his life by destroying a living meteor they were willing to let kill them, they immediately fix the rift he said he was going to get around to closing, forcing him to actually finish recreating portal tech to travel the multiverse.

* ScrewYouElves: Jerry turns against the dinosaurs when they strip his name off the manuscript he published to help people cope with their loss of purpose by accepting that others (in this case dinosaurs) are far more competent than they could ever be at taking care of things. The rest of humanity joins in when Rick reveals that their virtues are magnets for suicidally hateful, extinction-level meteorites.

* AllForNothing: The dinosaurs to their immense sorrow realize that their efforts are for naught because every utopia they usher in inevitably attracts malicious living meteors that destroy the worlds they uplifted.
