* FrameUp: Evil Rick/Evil Morty hack into Rick C-137's portal gun to make it look like he's recently visited the dimensions of all the murdered Ricks to make him appear responsible.

** Averted. The Morty Dome's walls are made of hundreds of screaming Mortys, constantly being tortured so they can hide Evil Rick. The implication is that they'll eventually die and be replaced by the other Mortys being held in the dome. What makes this worse is that our Rick acknowledges that only five Mortys and a jumper cable could achieve the same effect (and even admitted that he ''thought of an idea like this before''), and [[spoiler:that a ''Morty'' is behind all of this.]]

* BadNewsInAGoodWay: This is how Doofus Rick ends up solving the issue of Jerry's ''Star Wars'' coins. Everyone else has simply given him the brutally honest answer that the coins are pretty much worthless, and Jerry's been spending the entire episode trying to convince people that they'll be worth a ton of money. Doofus Rick tells him the , but still spin it in a positive and constructive way: the coins are never going to be worth any real amount of money as collector's items (and may actually go ''down'' in value with time), but they're clearly something Jerry cares about, and that makes them valuable in their own way.

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: The pamphlet "The Good Morty" handed out by evangelical alternate Morties look like Christian educational material for kids.

* LostInACrowd: At the end, Evil Morty disappears in a crowd of Morties.

** One of the Morties looks just like Eric Stolz from ''Film/{{Mask|1985}}''. This is an in-joke to the fact that Rick and Morty are based on Doc and Marty from ''Film/BackToTheFuture'' where Marty was briefly played by Eric Stolz before he was replaced by Creator/MichaelJFox.
** Some of the captured Morties look like Aang from ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender''.

* WeCanRuleTogether: Averted; Rick assumes that Evil Rick wants them to team up and overthrow the Citadel. Naah, Evil Rick just wants to drain Rick's brain of its knowledge and then kill him. This makes even more sense when we discover that Evil Morty is TheManBehindTheMan.
* WhamShot: Evil Morty pulling off his eyepatch at the end, revealing that he was behind everything, and vanishing into the crowd of now-identical Morties.

Rick has a run in with alternate Ricks, resulting in a falling out with Morty.

* BatmanGambit: Evil Rick (or rather, Evil Morty) wanted to lure Rick C-137 to them they could capture him, so they hacked his portal gun not only to frame him, but also because they knew C-137 would use that to trace them and come after them himself.

* DoWrongRight: Rick points out that the Morty Dome is needlessly excessive, since you could get the same effect that it provides with only five Mortys and a jumper cable. [[AndThatWouldBeWrong Which he claims he still wouldn't do.]]

* FrameUp: Evil Rick/Evil Morty hack into Rick C-137's portal gun to make it look like he's recently visited the dimensions of all the murdered Ricks in order to make him appear responsible.

* GuiltyUntilSomeoneElseIsGuilty: The Rick we follow throughout the show (Rick C-137) is arrested by the Citadel of Ricks, accused of murdering other Ricks. His portal gun history seems to corroborate this charge, and in any case his refusal to have anything to do with the Citadel of Ricks makes him suspect among the others. He's only let off the hook when he escapes and tracks down the actual culprit.

* OminousMultipleScreens: Evil Rick has a wall of monitors in his base, displaying the Morties suffering.

* RoboticReveal: When we learn that Evil Rick was just a robot remotely controlled by Evil Morty.

* AudienceMurmurs: Lampshaded by Rick when the crowd at the council starts murmuring after being insulted by Rick.

** Played straight with the Council’s Machine of Unspeakable Doom: it swaps your conscious and unconscious minds, rendering your fantasies pointless while everything you know becomes impossible to grasp. Also, every 10 seconds, it stabs your balls.

* AndIMustScream: Averted. The Morty Dome's walls are made of hundreds of screaming Mortys, constantly being tortured so they can hide Evil Rick. The implication is that they'll eventually die and be replaced by the other Mortys being held in the dome.

* ContinuityNod: One of the alternate Ricks and Mortys in the Citadel of Ricks is the Cronenberg Rick and Morty from the end of "Rick Potion #9".

** With the obvious exception of [[ThrowTheDogABone Doofus Rick]], The other Ricks also seem to enjoy making fun of Jerry as much as the Rick they're hunting down.

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Morty doesn't take being Rick's human cloaking device, even as they're sneaking around Evil Rick's hideout.

** In the end, it's revealed Evil Rick is being controlled by Evil Morty is the real killer.

* SpannerInTheWorks: Evil Morty apparently didn't count on even one of the other Mortys to actually stand up for themselves, motivating the rest.

* TranquillizerDart: Used to [[InstantSedation instantly sedate]] and capture Morty in the opening scene.
* TheTropeFormerlyKnownAsX: During the rundown of the unprecedented 'rick-icidal epidemic,' Rick questions the Rick known as "The scientist formally known as Rick."
