When Sweetie Belle leaves, upset by her inability to spend time with her big sister, she runs into Applebloom, who suggests the two enter the Sisterhooves social, an annual tag-team competition. Rarity refuses, however, and tensions boil over causing Sweetie Belle and Rarity to disown one another as sisters. An angry Sweetie Belle leaves the boutique and heads to Sweet Apple Acres, where she discovers the excellent relationship between Applejack and Applebloom. Applejack invites her to help with the chores, more of a game given the overall light-hearted mood, and enjoys herself.
While her sister is having fun with the Apples, Rarity muses over her fashion, and slowly begins to realize she misses Sweetie Belle more than she thought. Eventually, she finds Sweetie Belle's gem-encrusted drawing of the two, and realizes her mistakes in arguing with her sister. When she arrives at the farm, however, Sweetie Belle gives her the cold shoulder, and decides to 'adopt' Applejack as her big sister, much to the confusion of both Rarity and Applejack (and annoyance of Applebloom) Rarity's attempts to convince Sweetie Belle to return backfire when the filly calls her out on "wanting [Sweetie Belle] to go home to do what [Rarity] wants to do", and when Applejack points out that the two sisters need to work together, Rarity realizes her mistakes and gets an idea.
