At the Ponyville hospital, the Mane Six are gathered to view the newborn foals born to Mr. and Mrs. Cake. Mr. Cake introduces his son, Pound Cake. Then he introduces his daughter, Pumpkin Cake. To everypony's surprise, Pound Cake is a pegasus and Pumpkin Cake is a unicorn. Mr. Cake explains it that [[HandWave both he and Mrs. Cake have distant pegasus and unicorn ancestors]] ([[LampshadeHanging and quickly wonders if that makes sense]]). Regardless, Pinkie is thrilled to have new little playmates. She's so thrilled that she wants to sing and play with them on the spot, but Nurse Redheart shushes her and kicks her out. Rainbow and Rarity warn that their pegasus and unicorn gifts may manifest as early as babyhood and that the talents are wild.

The twins are stunned at first by Pinkie's stern and responsible attitude and immediately go to sleep when she tells them to. She looks away for just ''one second'' and they're gone. After a frantic search, she realizes that their pegasus and unicorn abilities have manifested! She desperately chases them all over the house, trying to keep up with them and keep them settled down. But she's only one Earth pony and so is at a disadvantage. She tries more and more drastic ways of keeping them in one spot and away from the toys, but now that their abilities have manifested, they easily get past her. Finally pushed past her limits, Pinkie Pie bursts into tears of defeated frustration. The twins are astonished to hear usually happy and laughing Pinkie sobbing, so they come up to her and dump a bag of flour over themselves. Pinkie stops crying and admits that it is pretty funny.

** This appears to be particularly true with Mrs. Cake's pegasus ancestry. It's described as being her "[[http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=great+aunt%27s+second+cousin+twice+removed great aunt's second cousin twice removed]]," which would require her genes to travel three generations ''back in time'' and then cross over a relationship-by-marriage to reach Mrs. Cake.

* TakeThat: Pinkie's "Oink!" song sounds ''exactly'' like the repetitive, condescending dreck in so many shows aimed at young children. Even at one month old, the foals cringe, slack-jawed in disbelief, and are finally driven to tears by how bad it is.

* [[BigBallOfViolence Big Ball of Diaper Change]]: Ensues when Pinkie has to try to wrangle both babies to change their diapers. It ends with Pinkie wearing both diapers and both foals gleefully naked.
* BrattyHalfPint: Unintentionally on the part of the two twins, but the fact that they stress Pinkie out to the point that she eventually throws a screaming fit when Pound and Pumpkin get completely out of her control sure points to them acting like this, especially since they caused nothing but trouble without any sign of letting up for several hours, nonstop. They even start crying the ''second'' that their parents leave the store!

** Rarity doesn't bother making an excuse not to babysit, she simply refuses on the spot.

** The rubber chicken from "Dragonshy" makes a return.
** Rarity's refusal to babysit hearkens back to both "Stare Master" and "Sisterhooves Social". She's not good with children, and likely has already had her fill of babysitting with Sweetie Belle over the years.
** Pinkie Pie's singing ruining something harkens back towards her song in "Over a Barrel" and "Best Night Ever".
** [[OcularGushers Pinkie's crying]] looks very familiar (read: partly recycled some of the animation) to that other time she cried in "Elements of Harmony".
** During the ColdOpen, Pinkie Pie accidentally ends up with chocolate cake smeared all over her face, much like her comment in "The Mysterious Mare Do Well".

* IronicEcho: When the Cakes finally ask Pinkie to watch the babies (As she'd been begging them), she sarcastically remarks "I'll have to check my schedule", somewhat offended by the implication that she can't handle the responsibility. At the end of the episode, when the Cakes ask her to be their regular babysitter, Pinkie (Slightly traumatized from the experience) panics a little and says "I'll have to check my schedule" (Before finally relenting due to how fond she is of the babies).
