* AnAesop: People aren't always who they seem.

* YouAreGrounded: Spencer tells Carly she's grounded for "til college" when he sees her kissing Griffin.

* MySisterIsOffLimits: When he sees Griffin and Carly kissing, Spencer kicks him out of the Shay residence and he tells Carly to stay away from him; naturally, she disobeys him and keeps seeing him in secret. He realizes that he was a bit harsh on them over this, and changes his mind.

* TooDumbToLive: Despite Spencer's warnings, Carly continues to date Griffin until he finally allows them to go with it.

* FaceYourFears: Sam has been constantly having a nightmare that involves a monster eating her soup. Spencer is trying to help her stop having this nightmare, with little success. So, he decides this trope is in order to do the trick. He leaves Sam a bowl of soup at the Shay residence with a note telling her to eat it, and while she does so, he comes out in a monster costume going to eat her soup. Sam ends up being enraged and beats him up until he reveals it’s him. This finally gives Sam the confidence of not finding that dream scary anymore.
