Doc decides to convert an old, deserted room into a workshop. Meanwhile, Gobo's Uncle Matt is exploring the last uncharted cave of Fraggle Rock. In it is a strange tunnel, seemingly blocked. But when Doc removes a crate from in front of a hole in the wall, Matt discovers a tunnel that leads to Outer Space, which had been regarded as just a legend. He tells Gobo of his discovery and his plans to travel there, leaving him his maps and book and instructing him to go to Outer Space every few days to collect the postcards he'll send back. Gobo doesn't want to do this because of a "fearsome beast"—Doc's dog, Sprocket. He tells his uncle he refuses, but Matt, oblivious, goes off to explore Outer Space.

Mokey saves Gobo by throwing Sprocket his ball, which had rolled into the tunnel.
