"The Ark in Space" was the first serial produced by Philip Hinchcliffe, whose approach to the show was an acknowledged inspiration for this episode.

The actual mass of the Moon is 8x10^19 tons, which is to say, 73 billion ''billion'' tons. Adding another billion tons would be utterly inconsequential. If you take it as a long (European) billion, then 10^12 would be a little better.
