* TerminallyIllCriminal: The BodyOfTheWeek is a department store owner who turns out to have been [[CrimeOfSelfDefense killed in self-defense]] after he [[SexualExtortion blackmailed the store manager into having sex with him]]. The {{blackmail}} material? He caught her on tape stealing from the tills in order to pay unauthorized Christmas bonuses to employees who were scheduled to be laid off, because she'd been diagnosed with terminal cancer and wanted to go out with a bang. [[LetOffByTheDetective Jo lets her walk.]]

* SexualExtortion: The department store manager had forced the victim to have sex with him in one of the store's washrooms as a bribe to keep from turning her in for petty theft. She thought it would be a one-time thing, but he kept coming back for more.
* StealingFromTheTill: The store manager had caught the victim on camera slipping a few dollars out all the registers she closed out on multiple occasions. No one incident was enough for prosecution, but they added up to quite a bit over time.

* PercussivePickpocket: The guy was taking advantage of a crowded situation, but he didn't count on Mac's keen sense of observation.

It's Christmastime and Jo convinces Mac to go window shopping with her. He spots a pickpocket in the crowd and before they can nab him, a murder victim is revealed when a department store window display is unveiled. The prime suspect in the murder refuses to speak while being interrogated.
