Shortening my recaps.

Quinn, who hasn’t yet arrived, is rumoured to have started a fight at school.
-->'''Tucker:''' All I know is, something happened, and he got sent to the principal.
-->'''Megan:''' What a jerk. Why’d he start a fight?
Just then, Quinn arrives.
-->'''Quinn:''' And that’s the kind of thinking that makes me nuts. How come when ever something nasty goes down, I take the heat? It’s like I’m guilty ‘til proven innocent.
-->'''Megan:''' Because you’re usually guilty?
-->'''Quinn:''' Just because somebody does something sometimes, doesn’t mean he does everything all the time. I got a story about this very thing. It’s about a guy who’s a little different. He doesn’t go along with what’s… normal. People don’t like things that aren’t normal. It makes them uncomfortable. That’s the way my guy likes it. That is, until he gets into trouble. And he has nowhere to turn. And the only person who believes in him is the one he should fear the most.

Submitted for the approval of the Midnight Society, he calls this story "The Tale of Vampire Town."

One stormy night, funeral director Carl enters Wisteria Funeral Home After a brief phone call, he hears a suspicious sound.

He inspects a row of vacant coffins, and reaches the morgue. On a table, from beneath a sheet, protrudes a lifeless hand. He pushes it beneath the sheet, sees a metal tray to have fallen to the floor, and stoops to clear up the mess.

Behind him, from another table, a sheet-covered body rises. As Carl gathers equipment from beneath the table, a hand grabs his shoulder. With a yell of fright, he jumps, and bangs his head, knocking himself out.

Above him, the intruder grins, revealing a large set of fangs. Gloved hands rip open Carl’s collar - beneath which lies a silver cross. With a hiss of fury, the caped intruder flees.

...

-->'''Adder:''' Tonight, I arrive in Wisteria, the fabled Vampire Town. Only last week there was a vampire attack in this quiet hamlet. Could it be that Dreyfus, the greatest vampire of all, has returned? Legend has it that he has slept in the catacombs beneath Wisteria for centuries. If this is true, and he has indeed risen from his grave, I will do everything in my power to meet him face to face. ''{car hits pothole, causing his quill to sway]'' Dad! Take it easy! I mean… father, please, take care.
-->'''Mark:''' Sorry, Mr [[Creator/BelaLugosi Lugosi]].

From the passenger seat, Adder’s mother, Carol, hands him a peanut butter sandwich. Adder removes his dark glasses, and peers at it disdainfully. To hunt vampires, he must think like one, and eat only red meat.

-->'''Mark:''' You sure you wanna go to this place? I mean, I got field seats for the Jets game tomorrow…
-->'''Carol:''' Honey, this is Adder’s call. We agreed as a family to let Adder choose the place.

The car parks by a remote, three storey greystone hotel.

Adder uncorks a small blue bottle, and sniffs. His parents grimace at the odour.

-->'''Adder:''' Raven’s Blood: nightshade and mandrake. A vampire delicacy from Romania. They can’t resist it.
-->'''Mark:''' He gets this from your side of the family.
-->'''Adder:''' Why does he always make fun of me?
-->'''Carol:''' You’re a great kid, Adder. But we just don’t understand this fascination with vampires.
-->'''Adder:''' I’m sorry if I’m not the son you want me to be.
-->'''Carol:''' All we want is for you to be happy. And if that means dressing up, and carrying around bottles of stinky vampire goo, then go for it. ''{pats his hand}'' Come on.
-->'''Adder:''' I can’t. Not ‘til after sunset.

In the gloomy foyer, Mark rings the bell.

-->'''Stanley:''' We never open the curtains. Sunlight damages our antiques.\

Mark asks about the vampire rumours.

-->'''Stanley:''' Old fables. Like the witches of Salem… I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.\

He explains the rumours to be bad for tourism, and confidentially asks Mark and Carol not to spread them.

Some time later, with night falling, Stanley returns to the foyer, to find Adder sitting patiently.

With a reproving word on Adder’s outfit, the Manager directs him to his room. Adder asks to see the Catacombs.

-->'''Stanley:''' They’ve been closed for years.
-->'''Adder:''' I understand there’s an entrance in the basement of this inn.
-->'''Stanley:''' The catacombs are sealed off. Why are you so interested?
-->'''Adder:''' Let’s just say I have an appointment - with destiny.

Adder goes upstairs. Stanley makes a phone call.

-->'''Stanley:''' Carl? Stanley. Did you get a look at what attacked you the other night? … Too bad. Because somebody just checked in that’s making me very nervous.

Later that evening, in the lounge, the family sit in armchairs by the fire. Adder writes of his plans to search the catacombs. Mark delicately stresses the outlandishness of his son’s preoccupation. When they leave for bed, Stanley peeks nervously from behind a curtain.

In the dead of night, Adder flicks on a torch, and steals through the foyer’s “no entry” door into the basement. From the shadows, Stanley and Carl nervously watch.

In the basement, Adder forces open a rickety wooden door. With a squeal, out fly two fluttering bats.

In the darkness beyond, he feels for a light switch, and presses it. With a clunk, dim overhead lights show a wide, low-ceilinged passageway. Against walls of hewn rock are propped several pikes, each topped with a human skull.

Awed, Adder casts around his torch light, which lands on several unceremoniously strewn skeletons. Through a large door of metal bars, he advances…

Behind him, Stanley and Carl, each with a stake and hammer in hand, nervously follow.

-->'''Carl:''' You sure he’s the one who jumped me?
-->'''Stanley:''' Why else would he be coming down here?

Through a wooden door, Adder finds a huge stone sarcophagus. He pulls out a camera, and takes a picture.

From the sarcophagus lid, he brushes away dust, to reveal the name Dreyfus.

The two pursuers burst in, stakes poised.

-->'''Stanley:''' Don’t move, you devil!
-->'''Carl:''' We thought we saw the last of your kind ages ago!
-->'''Adder:''' ''My'' kind, what are y- hey, whoa-whoa! I’m not a vampire!

From a round hole in the sarcophagus lid protrudes a wooden stick. Adder pulls it out, flings it towards his persecutors, and runs. The two give chase.

The sarcophagus lid shudders, and shifts sideways. From the darkness beneath reaches a ragged grey hand….

Through a wooden door, Adder gives his pursuers the slip. He backs into a wall-strewn skeleton, which gives him a fright.

The door creaks open. In steps a lone man in a black jacket and black cravat. His head, etched almost to the bone, is green and purple with decay.

-->'''Adder:''' Who - who are you?
-->'''Drefyus:''' I am Dreyfus.

The vampire leers.

In fearful awe, Adder backs away.

-->'''Adder:''' Dreyfus! You’re real? … Never thought I’d really find you! … You’re not what I expected!
-->'''Dreyfus:''' I… to… feed!

Adder takes a defensive photograph, pushes past the dazzled vampire, and runs.

He finds his path barred by Stanley and Carl, who disbelieve his claims of non-vampirism.

He slams shut a barred metal door, and runs, to find himself once more pursued by the shambling Dreyfus.

Adder leaps for a ventilation hole, and clambers halfway onto a basement across town. Narrowly escaping Dreyfus’s grasp, Adder climbs through the hole, and blocks it with a spare coffin. Upstairs, he finds himself in the local morgue.

Outside the room approach Stanley and Carl.

Adder climbs onto a nearby table, and takes cover beneath its sheet.

On arrival, Stanley and Carl split up to search further.

Adder sneaks into a curtain-shaded hallway. At the far end, by a mounted coffin, is another door. Adder approaches - only for it to be opened by Stanley, steak and hammer poised.

Through the door behind Adder arrives Carl.

-->'''Adder:''' I’m a kid! I go to Westboard High. Ninth Grade. This - ''{indicates dyed black hair and eyeshadow}'' it’s just an act! So - so…
-->'''Carl:''' So ''what''?
-->'''Adder:''' So I can pretend. I wanted to see if vampires are real… And they are! I found one!
-->'''Stanley:''' So did we! And we’re gonna send you back where you came from!

With a yell, Carl prepares to lunge.

From the floor between them rises a shaft of ethereal smoke. Within forms a dark silhouette, which solidifies into the fiendish figure of Dreyfus. The smoke clears. Dreyfus seizes the throat of the terrified Carl.

Stanley panics, drops his stake and flees.

Dreyfus prepares to bite Carl…

Adder uncorks his bottle of Raven’s Blood.

-->'''Adder:''' Dreyfus! Over here! ''{Dreyfus lets go of Carl}'' Nightshade and mandrake! All the way from Romania! Just for you! Better than blood isn’t it! And you haven’t eaten in a long, long time…

Crazed with desire, Dreyfus staggers forward.

Adder places the bottle on the coffin.

Dreyfus drinks…

Adder steps back, and wrenches down a curtain.

Caught in a glaring shaft of early morning light, Dreyfus falls to his knees, and spasms. The rays gradually blast his frame into a flaming husk. The skeletal remains drop to the floor and crumble to dust.

Carl stairs, overcome with relief. Adder raises his camera, and takes a picture of Dreyfus’s dusty remains.

-->'''Carl:''' You, uh - you saved my life!
-->'''Adder:''' Um, yeah… I guess I did!
-->'''Carl:''' So… it was Dreyfus all along!
-->'''Adder:''' I never thought I’d find him! It was all just a … dumb game.
-->'''Carl:''' Oh, it’s not a game here, son! There are dozens of vampires buried down below! We don’t usually have problems, but… every so often…
-->'''Adder:''' So… this really is vampire town.

Next morning, after a good nights’ sleep, Rose and Mark step into the bright sunshine.

Suddenly, they are surprised by the arrival of Adder - smiling airily in a green and blue shirt.

With the catacombs closed, Rose suggests they do something else.

-->'''Adder:''' … I thought maybe we could use those Jet tickets.
-->'''Rose:''' But… what about the vampire hunt?
-->'''Adder:''' Pff… I came… I saw. It’s over!
-->'''Mark:''' You’re ''sure''?
-->'''Adder:''' Positive!
-->'''Mark:''' Well, let’s hit it! We’ll make it in time for kick-off!
-->'''Adder:''' I’ll be right there!

He returns to the foyer.

-->'''Adder:''' Thanks for not saying anything to my parents about last night. I don’t think they’d understand...
-->'''Stanley:''' I’ll never breathe a word. ''[mimes zipping mouth]''.

Adder hands him the blue bottle.

-->'''Adder:''' In case you run into any more vampires.
-->'''Stanley:''' How kind.

As Adder nears the door, Stanley rapturously inhales the scent from within the bottle.

-->'''Adder:''' Oh, you know there’s something that I don’t get - if Dreyfus only rose last night, then who attacked Mr Mueller last week?
-->'''Stanley:''' I was hoping people would think it was you.
-->'''Adder:''' Yeah, but we, uh… wait. What do you mean 'hoping'?
-->'''Stanley:''' It’s getting harder and harder to get by undetected.

He grabs Adder’s shirt, and whirls him round - so that they both face a large mirror. ''The only reflection is Adder’s''.

-->'''Stanley:''' I hope you like Vampire Town - because you’ll be staying here a long, long time!

He bears his fangs…

On closure of the meeting, Andy and Vange delicately apologise for casually suspecting Quinn of having started the fight. He graciously puts them at ease. Megan walks off without a word.

Quinn, who hasn’t yet arrived, is rumoured to have started a fight at school.
-->'''Tucker:''' All I know is, something happened, and he got sent to the principal.
-->'''Megan:''' What a jerk. Why’d he start a fight?
Just then, Quinn arrives.
-->'''Quinn:''' And that’s the kind of thinking that makes me nuts. How come when ever something nasty goes down, I take the heat? It’s like I’m guilty ‘til proven innocent.
-->'''Megan:''' Because you’re usually guilty?

‘’{car hits pothole, causing his quill to sway]’’ Dad! Take it easy! I mean… father, please, take care.
-->'''Mark:''' Sorry, Mr [[Creator/BelaLugosi Lugosi]].

‘’{pats his hand}’’ Come on.
-->'''Adder:''' I can’t. Not ‘til after sunset.

-->'''Stanley:''' Don’t move, you devil!
-->'''Carl:''' We thought we saw the last of your kind ages ago!
-->'''Adder:''' ''My'' kind, what are y- hey, whoa-whoa! I’m not a vampire!

-->'''Drefyus:''' I am Dreyfus.

The vampire leers.

In fearful awe, Adder backs away.

-->'''Adder:''' Dreyfus! You’re real? … Never thought I’d really find you! … You’re not what I expected!
-->'''Dreyfus:''' I… to… feed!

This - ''[indicates dyed black hair and eyeshadow]'' it’s just an act! So - so…
-->'''Carl:''' So ''what''?

Over here! ‘’Dreyfus lets go of Carl]’’ Nightshade and mandrake!

-->'''Adder:''' Um, yeah… I guess I did!

-->'''Adder:''' Pff… I came… I saw. It’s over!
-->'''Mark:''' You’re ''sure''?
-->'''Adder:''' Positive!
-->'''Mark:''' Well, let’s hit it! We’ll make it in time for kick-off!
→’’’Adder:’’’ I’ll be right there!

He returns to the foyer.

-->'''Adder:''' Thanks for not saying anything to my parents about last night. I don’t think they’d understand...
→’’’Stanley:’’’ I’ll never breathe a word. ‘’[mimes zipping mouth]’’.

Adder hands him the blue bottle.

-->'''Adder:''' In case you run into any more vampires.
-->'''Stanley:''' How kind.

‘’The only reflection is Adder’s’’.

-->'''Tucker:''' … So who did start the fight?
-->'''Quinn:''' … I did. But hey! The guy deserved it. He nabbed my lunch.
