Superheroes are a genre of ''optimism'', dang it, that people ''are'' worth saving and helping, even if it means putting on a mask to do it.

The thing I always read about in regards to the lead-up to it was how Spider-Man had gotten so dark, the character was being rejected by fans because of the paces they were putting him through, and the belief that maybe it was time to shake things up for the bettet, but, like... here's Spidey in 1993, going through a ''very'' physically and emotionally draining storyline, yet coming out on top renewed and happy. I mean, sure, we have the "robot parents" reveal, Aunt May in the hospital, the machinations of Harry Osborn left behind after this; it's a lot, but I was under the impression that the darker turn for Spidey had been over the course of, like, two to three years before ''The Clone Saga'' began, not just a single year.
