*A young boy with some troubling thoughts (including a fascination with murder to different degrees) has to put up with parents who aren’t really there for him and some brutal bullies at school. A girl who moves in close to where he lives would be the start of his fortunes getting better thanks to the two developing a bond with each other, but it would only lead to him going on a darker path the closer he gets to her. The girl is actually a vampire who has lived for several years, needs permission to enter a house to prevent their body from bleeding heavily, and has previously relied on a man to collect blood for them, with gradually diminishing returns. The vampire is forced to kill in order to survive and has to deal with the darker impulses that come with being such a thing, but the boy and the vampire eventually become more than friends thanks to the time spent together. After the vampire kills the bullies that have been tormenting the boy, the two run away together.
*Oskar and Eli, the boy and his vampire friend, have been on the run and gone to various places since leaving their previous home behind. They eventually arrived at a place that appeared normal at a glance, but had something much stranger going on as they explored. Eli had to fulfill their hunger for blood and killing some people, reports started to spread in the area they were in about the grisly murders and how it was just another addition to a string of violent incidents that was going on prior to the duo’s arrival. Some witnesses have said that they saw a young boy and what appeared to be a young girl walking around a snowy area where the murders were taking place and some were concerned about the two given their proximity to the murders that was going on. Eventually, Oskar and Eli did find a place to settle down, though this was after they were confronted by the person responsible for the prior murders and Eli brutally killed the culprit when the perpetrator was getting ready to attack them. This didn’t do much to end the bloodshed caused by others that would be a regular occurrence in this strange setting and Eli needing to fulfill their hunger for blood would still be an issue on top of the other problems Oskar and Eli would have to contend with while living there.
*As a result of being bullied regularly, Oskar has developed violent thoughts in the form of imagining how to kill said bullies and a fascination with serial killers. While hanging out with Eli has helped him in finding a consistent friend, it hasn’t stopped Oskar from looking up other high-profile murderers that he would become just as interesting to him. Whether it was the gruesome mystique of Jack the Ripper, Patrick Bateman hiding his insanity and pretentiousness behind a mask of sanity and refinement, or Hannibal Lecter’s mix of smarts, ruthlessness, and classiness there were a lot of serial killers with far more varied personalities and tricks than what Oskar had previously learned about. Of the murderers Oskar has learned about, he noted that the Cyclops Killer killing others for fun was a marked contrast to Eli needing to kill to find blood and survive. Having someone as young as Oskar be interested in such gruesome figures unsettled a fair amount of people, especially given how violent Eli can be at the worst of times.
*The bullies Oskar had to put up with at school were violent in nature, culminating with them trying to murder Oskar after he learned to stand up to them thanks to Eli’s influence. While bullies aren’t as big of a problem to Oskar as they were previously thanks to Eli, his violent thoughts related to killing bullies didn’t sit well with many who are connected to bullying in different ways. Jimmy Hopkins made a living going after bullies and while he understands how bad Oskar had it when it came to the bullies he dealt with, Oskar’s murderous thoughts and the fact that he hanged out with a dangerous entity who killed said bullies was troubling for Jimmy and he saw it as a sign that Oskar could be no different from those murderous bullies that previously tormented him if things get worse. While persistent bullies such as Gary Smith have kept their distance from Oskar and Eli mainly to avoid a gruesome fate, a good number of bullying victims and those who have given up on bullying have a hard time fully opening themselves up to the two as a result.
**As someone who knows firsthand how awful bullying can be for himself and others, Shoya Ishida found something unsettling about what Oskar went through and how things ended for him. It was one thing to put up with bullies who are willing to kill their victim, but it was another to not only develop violent thoughts related to murder, but to have a friend carry out said murder when things got dire. Since Shoya grew to understand and eventually fall in love with former bullying victim Shoko Nishimiya, the idea of a bullying victim finding love with someone who understands their problems was something that would have interested him in a way that he and Shoko could empathize with. Instead, the respective violent mentalities and actions of Oskar and Eli and the darker implications of their relationship in regards to Eli using Oskar for less-than-savory means resulted in a relationship that scared Shoya and Shoko. As much as they would want to be understanding towards the problems Oskar and Eli had faced, the last thing Shoya wants to hear from anyone (especially from a bullying victim like Oskar) and a statement that Shoya believes would make Shoko cry was that Shoya should have gotten rid of his previous bullies when he had the chance to, as Shoya believes such an action would beget more violence and tragedy.
*Eli’s vampirism has resulted in them needing blood, otherwise they become violent if not given a sufficient amount of such after a period of time. While some need blood in order to survive, others willingly crave it out of a twisted sense of pleasure. Himiko Toga was another individual who needed blood, but rather than doing it to survive, she both indulges in it and needs blood from her victims in order to disguise herself as them. She also has a very twisted sense of love as a result of her blood cravings and was ostracized for being different and having horrifying powers from her world, hence her villainous nature. Himiko sees Eli as the kind of person she wishes she was: someone with a need for blood who was able to find love from someone who accepted them regardless of what flaws are present and use it to be able to fulfill such carnage. Oskar’s interest in murderers meant that he had a sense of curiosity about Himiko and would learn that it wasn’t just her reasons for wanting blood that made her different from Eli in a number of dark ways.
*The man in the wig was a vampire noble who was responsible for Eli’s vampirism and remains a dark moment in their life thanks to the abuse endured at his hands. While Oskar and Eli haven’t engaged that much with other vampires given the circumstances, that didn’t stop some of the more malicious vampires from taking an interest in them. The Crimson Court was a group of aristocratic vampires who learned of Eli’s background and were more than willing to see Eli embrace their more vampiric nature. Finding out that there were vampire nobles who shared many of the same sadistic traits that the man in the wig had on top of having more horrific abilities went over poorly with Eli, who saw it as a twisted reminder of the man from their past. Oskar’s apparent turn to vampirism as a result of hanging out with Eli also got the Court’s attention and while Oskar’s supposed vampirism isn’t as bad as Eli’s, it only added to Eli willing to get violent over anyone who will make Oskar’s life worse, no matter how supernatural or mundane the threat is to him.
*Despite having lived for thousands of years, Eli remains stuck in the body of a preteen girl and it wasn’t something that they’re happy about. This got the attention of Peter Pan, who was surprised to learn of an immortal being with a youthful appearance who had problems with living for such a long time. As much of a trickster Pan can be by default, he believes that Eli never had any real chances to have fun like a regular kid and was hoping to bring some of his own brand of fun to the vampire. Upon being confronted by Pan, Eli found his beliefs about eternal youth to be annoying and that he doesn’t understand that not everyone who has eternal youth can have it as easy as he does. Pan had his own psychological and emotional turmoil to deal with at times and while Eli’s problems are more severe than what Pan had gone through, he believes that something can help Eli overcome her mindset about eternal youth, even if others (Oskar included) believe that it’s a fruitless endeavor.
*Eli originally wasn’t a girl, but rather a boy named Elias who was sexually abused by a vampire noble and later castrated, thus appearing like a young girl and name change to Eli. Lily Hoshikawa was another transgender youthful undead whose outlook on her current situation was very different from Eli. Lily was once a child star who died and became a zombie thanks to a mix of stress from work, a strained relationship with her father, and gender dysphoria. Lily being happy about not being able to grow up thanks to being undead is a marked contrast to how Eli views eternal youth. Oskar not caring about whether Eli was a boy or a girl when it came to a romance between the two was something that went over well with Lily and believed it was something that would help put a new lease on Eli’s troubled life, but the bloody path that Oskar and Eli are in meant that Lily can’t really meet them that much regardless of her sympathies towards their troubled life.

*A young boy with some troubling thoughts (including a fascination with murder to different degrees) has to put up with parents who aren’t really there for him and some brutal bullies at school. A girl who moves in close to where he lives would be the start of his fortunes getting better thanks to the two developing a bond with each other, but it would only lead to him going on a darker path the closer he gets to her. The girl is actually a vampire who has lived for several years, needs permission to enter a house to prevent their body from bleeding heavily, and has previously relied on a man to collect blood for them, with gradually diminishing returns. The vampire is forced to kill in order to survive and has to deal with the darker impulses that come with being such a thing, but the boy and the vampire eventually become more than friends thanks to the time spent together. After the vampire kills the bullies that have been tormenting the boy, the two run away together.
*Oskar and Eli, the boy and his vampire friend, have been on the run and gone to various places since leaving their previous home behind. They eventually arrived at a place that appeared normal at a glance, but had something much stranger going on as they explored. Eli had to fulfill their hunger for blood and killing some people, reports started to spread in the area they were in about the grisly murders and how it was just another addition to a string of violent incidents that was going on prior to the duo’s arrival. Some witnesses have said that they saw a young boy and what appeared to be a young girl walking around a snowy area where the murders were taking place and some were concerned about the two given their proximity to the murders that was going on. Eventually, Oskar and Eli did find a place to settle down, though this was after they were confronted by the person responsible for the prior murders and Eli brutally killed the culprit when the perpetrator was getting ready to attack them. This didn’t do much to end the bloodshed caused by others that would be a regular occurrence in this strange setting and Eli needing to fulfill their hunger for blood would still be an issue on top of the other problems Oskar and Eli would have to contend with while living there.
*As a result of being bullied regularly, Oskar has developed violent thoughts in the form of imagining how to kill said bullies and a fascination with serial killers. While hanging out with Eli has helped him in finding a consistent friend, it hasn’t stopped Oskar from looking up other high-profile murderers that he would become just as interesting to him. Whether it was the gruesome mystique of Jack the Ripper, Patrick Bateman hiding his insanity and pretentiousness behind a mask of sanity and refinement, or Hannibal Lecter’s mix of smarts, ruthlessness, and classiness there were a lot of serial killers with far more varied personalities and tricks than what Oskar had previously learned about. Of the murderers Oskar has learned about, he noted that the Cyclops Killer killing others for fun was a marked contrast to Eli needing to kill to find blood and survive. Having someone as young as Oskar be interested in such gruesome figures unsettled a fair amount of people, especially given how violent Eli can be at the worst of times.
*The bullies Oskar had to put up with at school were violent in nature, culminating with them trying to murder Oskar after he learned to stand up to them thanks to Eli’s influence. While bullies aren’t as big of a problem to Oskar as they were previously thanks to Eli, his violent thoughts related to killing bullies didn’t sit well with many who are connected to bullying in different ways. Jimmy Hopkins made a living going after bullies and while he understands how bad Oskar had it when it came to the bullies he dealt with, Oskar’s murderous thoughts and the fact that he hanged out with a dangerous entity who killed said bullies was troubling for Jimmy and he saw it as a sign that Oskar could be no different from those murderous bullies that previously tormented him if things get worse. While persistent bullies such as Gary Smith have kept their distance from Oskar and Eli mainly to avoid a gruesome fate, a good number of bullying victims and those who have given up on bullying have a hard time fully opening themselves up to the two as a result.
**As someone who knows firsthand how awful bullying can be for himself and others, Shoya Ishida found something unsettling about what Oskar went through and how things ended for him. It was one thing to put up with bullies who are willing to kill their victim, but it was another to not only develop violent thoughts related to murder, but to have a friend carry out said murder when things got dire. Since Shoya grew to understand and eventually fall in love with former bullying victim Shoko Nishimiya, the idea of a bullying victim finding love with someone who understands their problems was something that would have interested him in a way that he and Shoko could empathize with. Instead, the respective violent mentalities and actions of Oskar and Eli and the darker implications of their relationship in regards to Eli using Oskar for less-than-savory means resulted in a relationship that scared Shoya and Shoko. As much as they would want to be understanding towards the problems Oskar and Eli had faced, the last thing Shoya wants to hear from anyone (especially from a bullying victim like Oskar) and a statement that Shoya believes would make Shoko cry was that Shoya should have gotten rid of his previous bullies when he had the chance to, as Shoya believes such an action would beget more violence and tragedy.
*Eli’s vampirism has resulted in them needing blood, otherwise they become violent if not given a sufficient amount of such after a period of time. While some need blood in order to survive, others willingly crave it out of a twisted sense of pleasure. Himiko Toga was another individual who needed blood, but rather than doing it to survive, she both indulges in it and needs blood from her victims in order to disguise herself as them. She also has a very twisted sense of love as a result of her blood cravings and was ostracized for being different and having horrifying powers from her world, hence her villainous nature. Himiko sees Eli as the kind of person she wishes she was: someone with a need for blood who was able to find love from someone who accepted them regardless of what flaws are present and use it to be able to fulfill such carnage. Oskar’s interest in murderers meant that he had a sense of curiosity about Himiko and would learn that it wasn’t just her reasons for wanting blood that made her different from Eli in a number of dark ways.
*The man in the wig was a vampire noble who was responsible for Eli’s vampirism and remains a dark moment in their life thanks to the abuse endured at his hands. While Oskar and Eli haven’t engaged that much with other vampires given the circumstances, that didn’t stop some of the more malicious vampires from taking an interest in them. The Crimson Court was a group of aristocratic vampires who learned of Eli’s background and were more than willing to see Eli embrace their more vampiric nature. Finding out that there were vampire nobles who shared many of the same sadistic traits that the man in the wig had on top of having more horrific abilities went over poorly with Eli, who saw it as a twisted reminder of the man from their past. Oskar’s apparent turn to vampirism as a result of hanging out with Eli also got the Court’s attention and while Oskar’s supposed vampirism isn’t as bad as Eli’s, it only added to Eli willing to get violent over anyone who will make Oskar’s life worse, no matter how supernatural or mundane the threat is to him.
*Despite having lived for thousands of years, Eli remains stuck in the body of a preteen girl and it wasn’t something that they’re happy about. This got the attention of Peter Pan, who was surprised to learn of an immortal being with a youthful appearance who had problems with living for such a long time. As much of a trickster Pan can be by default, he believes that Eli never had any real chances to have fun like a regular kid and was hoping to bring some of his own brand of fun to the vampire. Upon being confronted by Pan, Eli found his beliefs about eternal youth to be annoying and that he doesn’t understand that not everyone who has eternal youth can have it as easy as he does. Pan had his own psychological and emotional turmoil to deal with at times and while Eli’s problems are more severe than what Pan had gone through, he believes that something can help Eli overcome her mindset about eternal youth, even if others (Oskar included) believe that it’s a fruitless endeavor.
