* More than once throughout some of the early scenes after they enter the woods, Moder can be seen silently and motionlessly lurking in the background watching the main four until finally moving, including [[spoiler:after Hutch is found dead]].

** While the group was clearly already being stalked by this point, the second they decided to stay in the cabin is when Moder had officially marked them for death. After that night, the film escalates of a tense feeling of creeping dread to outright supernatural horror and panic. The very first indicator that something's wrong is when we see Hutch outside and figure out that not only is the path gone. ''The forest itself changed around them'' in the middle of the night.

* The sight of the creature's victims hanging from the tree branches (such as the elk on the right) is ''very'' disturbing, which is made even worse by the sight of [[{{Squick}} their intestines on the ground...]]
* The creature herself is pretty creepy, [[NothingIsScarier not being fully revealed at first]]. When she’s fully revealed for the first time, she appears as Dom's wife, Gayle, but then she’s shown to be a... [[AnimalisticAbomination thing]] with the body of an elk. For a head she has a headless human torso with antlers for arms and human arms for legs. Between the "legs" is a goat [[SkullForaHead skull]]. And that's not mentioning her [[GlowingEyesOfDoom eyes]]...
* Luke's nightmares are a combination of this and TearJerker, as they show that he still feels guilty about Robert's death, and it's disturbing to see the creature using his memories to manipulate him.

* Shortly after this, while walking, the group stumbles upon the remains of a tent and belongings of an unlucky hiker like them. Upon examining the [=IDs=], Hutch reveals the expiry date on the cards to be 1984, suggesting that people have been disappearing in the woods after encountering the monster for a very long time.

Let's hope he was dead long before that...

* When Dom is about to be sacrificed, in preparation he is taken upstairs to something so horrific he is heard screaming in absolute terror. Later in the film, it's discovered exactly what it was. A room filled with a congregation of naturally mummified corpses that open their mouths to speak in BlackSpeech.

One of them immediately declares it witchcraft. As they leave, the camera lingers on it's odd, shrunken feet. [[spoiler:Turns out this is the shape of the monster's front half, and the shrunken feet are really human hands and the antlers are attached to it's "head".]] Phil says he'll give one of them a grand if they go sleep upstairs with it, but no one takes the bait.
