!!The Infernal Internship of Mark Beaks!
* It's played for laughs with how Mark Beaks treats his time as a hostage, but the way Falcon Graves just strolls through heavy security with no thought for stealth or subterfuge and kidnaps Mark right from his office is [[AdultFear pretty scary]].

* Liu Hai reveals himself in a pretty creepy way: everything turns dark, the walls of the casino turn into cards and Liu Hai himself turns jade-colored and grows to gigantic size. Furthermore, all the patrons of the casino are transformed into cards. Were they all illusions conjured up by Liu Hai? Or were they once innocent people lured in like Gladstone was?
* While not a lot of detail is given, the fact remains that for an unspecified amount of time, Gladstone was the prisoner of a luck vampire who was feeding off his natural luck. [[FridgeHorror Just how many other people suffered a similar fate, being drawn into the casino and finding they can't leave]]?

He called Scrooge in the hopes of being freed, not to trick them into staying. It was Scrooge's idea to consign them all to slavery as a consequence of losing the bet, and Gladstone clearly made no great effort to win.

* Gladstone himself in an AdultFear sort of way. He was fully prepared to consign his family, including four young children, to an eternity of enslavement under Liu Hai just to save his own skin. People have been violently disowned from less prestigious clans for less horrendous acts. Plus, just imagine having to live with someone who is as much of a jerk as Gladstone is shown to be and who you know can literally get away with ''anything'' because they are just that blasted fortunate.

* While not a lot of detail is given, the fact remains that for an unspecified amount of time, Gladstone was the prisoner of a luck vampire who was feeding off his natural luck. Just how many other people suffered a similar fate, being drawn into the casino and finding they can't leave?
** The episode actually has a bit of a creepy vibe to it, that kicks off with the scene with Gladstone at the beginning. When asked why he called Donald and Scrooge for help, Gladstone tries to answer, but then receives a suspicious glance from one of the casino workers, which leads to him immediately backtracking. After that, Scrooge and the kids discover that they have immense difficulty locating the exit of the casino and find themselves looping back to the exact same place. Then we have the introduction of Toad Liu Hai, who seems a bit too obsessed with making sure the McDuck family stay in the casino for as long as possible. All these events provide the episode with a rather creepy atmosphere, like you get that something is off about the place but it isn't clear what.
** When Liu Hai reveals himself, all the patrons of the casino are transformed into cards. Were they all illusions conjured up by Liu Hai? Or were they once innocent people lured in like Gladstone was?

* In stark contrast to the largely comedic portrayals of the other villains, the show's version of Magica De Spell is a deadly serious threat that seems straight out of a Lovecraft or Stephen King story. A SealedEvilInACan who occupies the shadow of her niece Lena, and pressures the girl into an insidious plan to get close to the Duck family, and also implied to be actively trying to morally corrupt her to the point of murder. And WordOfGod happily added right after her first appearance that if she ever got out, her power level is on the same level as [[WesternAnimation/GravityFalls Bill Cipher]]. And it's all aided by a performance from the typically comedic actress Catherine Tate that's stripped of all her usual hamminess in favor of pure bone-chilling evil.
