* ''Fanfic/SpiderNinja'': Chapter 6 starts out light-hearted, with Petra beating Mikey in a spar thanks to her new spider powers. * ''Webcomic/NaruHinaChronicles'': Sasuke and Naruto's reunion is taken as seriously as you'd expect... right up until Naruto punches Sasuke on the head.

* ''WebVideo/SwordArtOnlineAbridged'': While the series is a parody of ''LightNovel/SwordArtOnline'', it is also known for playing some of the most emotional scenes in the original dead straight, even if the context is changed slightly. In the original, the Moonlit Black Cats stumbled into a [[SchmuckBait blatantly obvious trap]] because they didn't know Kirito was much more experienced than them and worth listening to, and were all killed while Sachi tried to tell Kirito it wasn't his fault. In the abridged series, they ''are'' smart enough not to fall for it, but most of the team consists of [=NPCs=] who trigger the trap on accident. The scene is mostly BlackComedy as the NPC with their teleport crystals wanders off, the player with the healing items dies, and all their options dwindle. But when Sachi tries to tell Kirito it's not his fault, her connection glitches again, and she just ends up repeating "your fault" over and over as she dies.

* The ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' fic "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2402970/1/Equal-Romance-02-Obscure-Ways-to-Devotion Equal Romance 02: Obscure Ways to Devotion]]" sees Ron experience this, at least from his perspective. As far as Ron is aware, he fell unconscious while Kim was yelling that she hated him, to the extent that she basically accused him of attempted rap, and pushed him away while he was feeling sick. Ron's next conscious memory is waking up in hospital to find Kim crying over him, only for her to pull him into a joyful kiss (Ron is unaware that Kim spent the two months while he was in a coma learning what really motivated his earlier actions and establishing that she just made a series of horrible mistakes).

* The ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'' fic "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/2402970/1/Equal-Romance-02-Obscure-Ways-to-Devotion Equal Romance 02: Obscure Ways to Devotion]]" sees Ron experience this; from his perspective, he fell unconscious while Kim was yelling that she hated him and pushed him while basically accusing him of attempted rape, and then he wakes up to find Kim crying over him in hospital and then pulling him into a celebratory kiss (Ron is unaware that Kim spent the two months while he was in a coma learning what really motivated his earlier actions and establishing that she just made a series of horrible mistakes).

* ''Manga/SpyXFamily'': In [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uYv9SijWu0 this (fandubbed) fan-comic]], Twilight and several [=WISE=] agents confront Chairman Donovan Desmond and his security detail by threatening Damian at gunpoint so that Desmond Senior can stop his plans to restart the war, but Donovan still abides by his philosophy that people will never understand one another, and delivers a diatribe where he essentially says that the war is necessary because "MightMakesRight" and leaves Damian to his fate at the hands of the [=WISE=] agents. Back at [=WISE=] headquarters, Twilight and the other agents discuss the fallout of Donovan escaping, as well as what to do about Damian, which is when Anya's brought in with the hopes she can talk to Damian. When she goes into the room he's in, he tries to act strong and tells her there's no point in talking to him since he has no valuable information, and [[LeaveMeAlone yells at her to leave him alone]] since no one wants him anyway. Anya starts to cry and calls Damian an idiot for pretending to not care about anything, but she knows he's devastated over the fact that he excelled at school with the hopes that would get him some recognition, and even love, from his father, [[ParentalAbandonment who callously abandoned him without a second thought]]. [[NotSoStoic This causes Damian to hug Anya and break down in tears]] while promising not to let her go, since she's the only person who showed him some genuine affection. When Damian and Anya exit the room so he can drink some water, Twilight asks why her chest is wet, and Anya, not wanting Damian to be embarrassed with people knowing he was crying, proudly proclaims that it's the saliva they spilled while she and Damian were kissing, which makes [[SpitTake Damian choke on his water]] and for Twilight's [[BoyfriendBlockingDad Loid Forger persona to wonder what exactly were they doing in that room]].

* ''Fanfic/{{Debt}}'' spends twelve and a half chapters as a rather nasty mixture of nightmarish imagery, NauseaFuel, and TearJerker. About halfway through the last chapter, [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments it becomes kind of hard for the reader to believe that they're still reading a]] DarkFic.

* Jake's section in the first chapter of ''Fanfic/{{Daemorphing}}: Destroyer of Worlds'' begins with him having a serious conversation with his parents about what happened to Tom, and ends with him feeling embarrassed about his sexuality.
* ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'' fanfic ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11886910/1/Gankona-Unnachgiebig-Unità Gankona, Unnachgiebig, Unità]]'': Let's just say the author changes from light to dark mood and back and forth ''many'' times throughout the story.
* Chapter 50 of ''Fanfic/TheParselmouthOfGryffindor'' mostly sees the heartwarming, somewhat sad reunion of Lily with Harry and Snape. Then at the very last moment, crashing down comes Mad-Eye Moody saying that every Death Eater in Azkaban has escaped.
* ''Fanfic/{{Mutant}}'' has a giant shift in the second chapter.
