* BigFishInABiggerOcean: Vivio, Einhard, and their friends attend a tournament with other young mages who also specialize in physical combat. In a complete subversion to usual TournamentArc tropes, the girls lose early on with only Einhard being able to briefly battle the prodigy champion before being taken out. They are understandably demoralized by this.

* CutShort: The anime adaptation was rather abruptly cancelled after one season(according to rumor, because of contractual problems between the producers and Creator/YukariTamura). It doesn't end at a proper breaking point, or even a Cliffhanger, but just sort of stops in the middle of the story. The final episode doesn't particularly feel like a finale -- it's a mostly quiet and contemplative episode devoted to setting up Vivio's long-built-up match with Miura and Rio's fight against Harry, as well as foreshadowing Einhart's upcoming bout with former Interdimensional Champion Sieglinde.

** Fortunately, the anime parallels the manga extremely closely, so that viewers can simply pick up chapter 32 and start reading from there.

* PageTurnSurprise: In the first issue, after some hints about the research on "that", Vivio gets ready for her first TransformationSequence. Then as the reader turns the page, they get a two-page spread showing [[spoiler:the glorious return of Sankt Kaiser Vivio]].

* OffModel:
** In some recent chapters, the author forgets to draw noses. Or mouths. And Micaiah's closed eye is placed a bit too low.
** For those who are used to the old character designs, the ones from the anime can... take some getting used to. The anime does have some off-model moments.
** In episode 10, Nove and Otto's color palettes are swapped.

* Stripperiffic: Seems to have gone the opposite way of Force which tacked more metal onto every character until they looked like a Gundam. Instead in Vivid, various barrier jackets are loaded with fanservice tropes including but not limited to Underboobs, CleavageWindow, BareYourMidriff and ZettaiRyouiki.
