Shimizu Kuuma recently got flatly rejected from a job offer that his company president kindly got for him despite him lacking the qualifications. Blaming his misfortune on the recent pandemic, he walks down the street with closed eyes.

"Life... You never know what it'll bring next, huh..."

When he opens his eyes, he realizes that he's no longer in Shibuya, but stranded in a fantasy land, in the clutches of a winged beast, and ''meters above the ground''. Fortunately, he's rescued by Pan'ya, who tells him that foreigners like him occasionally wander into this world. Since there's no known way to send them back, they have to adapt and live their new lives here. She then offers him a job as one of the few male prison guards of the Sea Bastille, a prison that is managed by the Queendom of Sebek and ''entirely'' filled with female prisoners. As she guides him through the Sea Bastille, its newest prisoner catches his eye; she is Zeina Sebek, a member of the royal family who's been imprisoned for the crime of patricide.

The tour ends with Kuuma meeting Gamy, another prisoner who wastes no time taking his virginity... and his life. As he's on the verge of death, Pan'ya, who is revealed to be Gamy's "pet", throws him into the sea, where he is swallowed by the Kraken, an infamous beast who Pan'ya mentioned as the ruler of the seas.

However, instead of death, Kuuma finds himself in a space created by the Kraken, who introduces himself as Karama. Having read Kuuma's memories, Karama offers him a deal: in exchange for reviving him and granting him power, he will rescue Zeina from her imprisonment in Karama's stead. When Karama was just born, Zeina freed him from a living hell of being sliced up to the verge of death and regenerating as an infinite resource for legendary armor. Realizing that she was punished for giving him freedom, he swore to give anything to repay her, but freeing her from the Sea Bastille by himself was beyond his own ability; knowing that Kuuma also believes in repaying favors, he does not mind sacrificing himself in the process. Moved by Karama's conviction, Kuuma accepts Karama's mission and sacrifice.

With the bequeathed power of the Kraken, Kuuma easily gives Gamy her just deserts and confronts Pan'ya for her deception. He narrowly spares Pan'ya in exchange for her properly hiring him as Zeina's guard, but one statement worries him: Isis, the Sea Bastille Castellan, '''has already decided on Zeina's execution'''.

''Gokusotsu Kraken'' ("Hell's Tormentor Kraken") is a manga written by Takahiro and drawn by Kei Toru serialized in Creator/SquareEnix's Big Gangan since 2022.

!!This manga provides examples of:
* HeroicSacrifice: Karama sacrifices his consciousness so that Kuuma can inherit his power and rescue Zeina in his stead.
* HowWeGotHere: The opening page spreads of Chapter 1 show Kuuma already working as a prison guard of the Sea Bastille restraining female prisoners with his Kraken powers; the story then jumps back two weeks and follows him from the moment he was whisked from Earth and into this fantasy land.
* StarterVillain: Gamy is the first villain of the story, and the first one Kuuma defeats with Karama's power.
* TrappedInAnotherWorld: Pan'ya tells Kuuma that he's the most recent "foreigner" to the Queendom of Sebek. Others have been in similar circumstances, and a way to send them home has yet to be found, if ever.
* UncertainDoom: The last panel of Gamy is her screaming after Kuuma gave her a Kraken-empowered karate chop to her head. It's unknown if she survived it, as she has yet to reappear.
* WouldHitAGirl:
** As all the prisoners of the Sea Bastille are female, the few male guards overseeing them (all of whom are considered "exceptional" by the Castellan herself) are expected to pull no punches with the ones they're directly responsible for. New hire Kuuma and Chief Prison Guard Ghassan are the only named ones so far.
** The Kousa Brothers also believe in this philosophy, pulling no punches in [[spoiler:their ambush on Kuuma, his 9th Gaol allies, and Pan'ya. When Kuuma later asks for their advice in getting stronger after he failed to defeat a Griffin-fused assassin, they tell him that his chivalry is holding him back and will get him killed]].
