** The same reasoning as Einmug is applied by professor Spike Marlin for his TimeMachine. He and the archaeologist Zachary Zapotec only use it to send Mickey and Goofy to solve historical mysteries, but are extremely aware someone could try and change the past... So they keep around a [[LaserGuidedAmnesia forgetfulness potion]], and the only time they broke their vow was when they ''knew'' there was a time loop and ''not'' allowing Mickey to go in the past to deal with Pete there would have broken the timeline.

* In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIV'', this is how the Crystal Tower storyline concludes during ''A Realm Reborn''. The storyline revolves around exploring an ancient tower left behind by the long-dead Allagan empire. After defeating the guardians of the ancient tower and thwarting the DealWithTheDevil that Allag's last emperor began, it's decided that the tower's LostTechnology is too advanced and dangerous for the world to handle as it is now. And so [[spoiler:G'raha Tia]], the last descendant of the ancient bloodline that can control the tower, chooses to seal himself away inside it, until such a time as the outside world has become advanced enough to unseal the tower and use its powers wisely. Towards the end of the ''Shadowbringers'' storyline, it's revealed that [[spoiler:the tower was eventually opened again in the timeline marked by the Eighth Umbral Calamity. It took generations of tireless effort to do so]].
