** Mario and Luigi began as clones in ''64'' before gradually becoming their own unique fighters overtime. But they still retain many superficially identical moves like their classic fireball (based on the fire-flower powerup from their [[Franchise/SuperMario series of origin]]), [[{{Shoryuken}} Super Jump Punch]], and Mario/Luigi Tornado. The attributes of these moves though differ greatly and lend to different playstyle archetypes, Mario being a JackOfAllTrades and Luigi being a combo-centric FightingClown.
** The three ''VideoGame/StarFox'' fighters all share similar special moves, consisting of a RayGun, DashAttack, directional up-special, and AttackReflector. Falco was originally Fox's clone in ''Melee'' but was significantly changed in ''Brawl'' to become a more unique fighter. ''Brawl'' also introduced Wolf who has little in common with the previous two in terms of playstyle, but still has functionally similar specials.

* ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'' has the two Shimada heroes, both of them sharing in the ability to [[DragonsAreDivine summon the magic of dragons]] carried on from their bloodlines. Both of them have [[LimitBreak ultimate abilities]] using this magic, but with vastly different implementation: [[ArcherArchetype Hanzo]]'s "Dragonstrike" has him fire an arrow [[SummonMagic summoning a duo of giant spirit dragons]] that [[AdvancingWallOfDoom are unstoppable and will rip apart anyone in their path]], while [[CyberNinja Genji]]'s "Dragonblade" has him infuse the dragon spirit into [[KatanasAreJustBetter his katana]], making it [[AbsurdlySharpBlade strong enough to slice through enemies in one or two hits]]. During the cinematic short "Dragons", Hanzo attempts to fire a Dragonstrike at Genji, but since he has control over the same force, Genji's able to use his Dragonblade to harmlessly deflect it away (something which [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration is doable in-game]], [[CutscenePowerToTheMax though some details are fudged around]][[note]]Genji can't deflect things with Dragonblade, only [[AttackReflector his regular "Deflect" ability]], and even then it only works on the initial arrow Hanzo fires before explodes into dragon form[[/note]]). Seeing Genji do this [[WhamShot makes Hanzo realize that he's been fighting his long-lost brother the whole time]].
