** The Mask of Life is this on top of being a MaskofPower that secretly is ''also'' an ArtifactOfDeath. Since it possesses such immense power, it has a (very basic) instinct to [[OnlyTheChosenMayWield deem certain individuals worthy of protecting/using it]] and [[SelfGuardingPhlebotinum to curse the unworthy]]. Later, it becomes a [[EmergentHuman Toa on its own]], albeit one that's ''extremely'' GooGooGodlike and as such has a lot less restraint than other Toa.

* The One Ring from ''Literature/LordOfTheRings'' and The Hobbit. It can betray its masters, call out to its true master, and actively seeks to be brought to [[EvilOverlord Sauron]].

When Orion was given a Fatherbox to replace his seemingly dead Mother Box, it tried to turn him back to Darkseid.
