** Thaddeus S. “Rusty” Venture is current patriarch, a deeply-flawed UnsympatheticComedyProtagonist who seems to be floundering in his father's shadow. He is [[TheCynic cynical]] and disillusioned with the idea of "super-science," and a glimpse of his history shows why: after a HilariouslyAbusiveChildhood at the hands of his father, he wants nothing to do with the family legacy. However, he also proves himself TalentedButLazy: on the (rare) occasions he gets his act together, he is a genius OmnidisciplinaryScientist capable of incredible feats.

** Jonas "JJ" Venture Jr. is Rusty's LongLostSibling who quickly surpasses his washed-up brother. He seems to perfectly fulfill the ideal super-scientist image set by his father, but without his father's vices. Rusty resents his "little" brother for this success, but also admires him. [[spoiler: After JJ makes a HeroicSacrifice in the premiere of Season 6, his brother inherits the Ven-Tech company.]] This inspires Rusty to embrace his heritage in a sort of DeconReconSwitch.

** Colonel Lloyd Venture, when addressing The Guild at the dawn of the 20th century, professes conviction that heroism means fearless pursuit of knowledge.

* The Venture family of ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers'' has a long line of "superscientists," essentially superheroes who use science. While the current patriarch Thaddeus S. “Rusty” Venture flounders in his father's shadow, he's still a true superscientist. In one episode he shows that he can replicate all of a wizard's powers using science. He seems to have a love-hate relationship with the superscience racket, and considers it a mercy that he's not forcing his BookDumb son Hank to follow in his footsteps (though this is because he sees Hank as himself and Dean as the boy adventurer he thought he wants to be, it's actually the other way around). However, he does eventually say the page quote at one point, apparently having forgotten that it's his father's CatchPhrase.
** That said, Thaddeus and his dad are such horrible, disgusting people they barely count as "Heroes," and sometimes veer closer to being more like Mad Scientists.
** However, Thaddeus’ grandfather, Colonel Venture and his brother, Jonas Venture Jr, were more clear-cut examples, Colonel Venture especially and it's implied the Venture line of superscientists goes quite a way back. Even with Thaddeus and Jonas Sr's numerous faults, they truly and sincerely believed in the power of super-science. When [[spoiler: Rusty inherits JJ's Ven-Tech Company after his HeroicSacrifice in the premiere of season six, we get a nice little speech from him:]]

* ''Manga/{{Gamma}}'' has Nina Goto, essentially a female IronMan expy. Unlike most of the other heroes in the setting, she doesn't have super powers. Instead, she builds armored suits and investigates villains scientifically.

* ''VideoGame/{{Overwatch}}'' features several such characters, most notably Winston, a gorilla who was himself created by the scientist who was his namesake, and Mei, a Chinese climatologist who was the only survivor of a failed expedition in Antarctica.

* While not as obviously impressive as the above examples, the Demon King from ''[[LightNovel/MaoyuuMaouYuusha Maoyu]]'' is responsible for a scientific and cultural revolution among humans and demons alike. From four-stage crop rotation to public education to the potato to the greenhouse to the gun and even the printing press, she is unquestionably ''the'' mover and shaker of their history, whether through her own innovations or by expert diplomacy or by inspiring others (public education, after all) who share her ideals, often with them contributing in amazing ways themselves.

* Dr. Anthony Fauci has served in various American health organizations since 1968, as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984, and for 20 years was one of the most cited scientists in the world. And he wasn't some desk jockey either. He has been on the frontlines, personally interacting with patients and researching every major international killer disease you can think of: AIDS, SARS, the 2009 swine flu pandemic, MERS, Ebola, and COVID-19 just to name a few.

** He was one of the first people to treat people with HIV in the 70s, back when it was considered an unstoppable act of god against gay people and political suicide to even discuss, [[DeterminedDoctor much less personally treat]]. The reason why AIDS can be treated today and no longer an instant death sentence is because of his research, which he's still continuing into the 2020s.

** When Ebola was getting a foothold in the U.S. and there were fears even amongst his fellow doctors about its infectivity, Fauci, who we remind you, [[BadassInCharge was director of NIAID]], treated the patients himself, not just so that he could get better insight on how the virus worked by physically interacting with the patients, [[AFatherToHisMen but also to shield his younger colleagues while setting an example on treating the disease]].

* Both Jay Garrick and Barry Allen, the first and second ComicBook/{{Flash}}es respectively, are both experts in science. Jay is the director of a laboratory which was crucial in protecting Earth-Two, and Barry is a police scientist who uses his speed in creative ways in conjunction with his science knowledge.

* Played with in the case of [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fritz_Haber Fritz Haber]]. He invented a process for producing fertilizer that feeds billions today... While trying to develop chemical weapons for the Germans in WWI.

* The Vault Comic ''Money Shot'' is a parody of the Science Hero sci-fi story like ''Franchise/StarTrek'' where a group of brave scientists use a star-gate to explore strange new worlds and seek out new life-forms and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before ... and make porn. Seriously. The logic being that most of humanity's great inventions and endeavors were in some way related to pornography, so their show would be the best way of re-awakening people's interests in space-travel.

* Except for its female heroine, the basic plot of ''Film/{{Gravity}}'' would not seem out of place in a fifties Golden Age of Sci-fi story.

* The Sons of Ether in ''TabletopGame/MageTheAscension'', gloriously so; they even have an informal Adventurers faction that's expressly made up of Science Heroes. Some members of the Technocracy might count as Science {{Anti Hero}}es.
** And of course, this is a common character type for players of ''TabletopGame/GeniusTheTransgression'', even having as far as a ''merit'' called Science Hero.

* Most of the playable roles in ''TabletopGame/{{Pandemic}}'' are scientists or medical professionals.

* ''Series/TheGreatBritishBakeOff'': Paul has extensive knowledge of the science of baking and is always explaining the various chemical processes that occur during a bake. Mary is also incredibly knowledgeable but she doesn't go into quite as much detail as Paul, preferring to use more easy to understand expressions.

* In ''Literature/TheReckonersTrilogy'' we have [[TheLeader Prof]], real name Jonathan Phaedrus. He [[CapeBusters takes the fight to the evil Epics]] with the aid of some of [[GadgeteerGenius the devices he invented]], amongst which [[DeflectorShields energy shields]], [[DisintegratorRay the tensors]] and the [[HealingFactor harmsway]]. He even wears a black BadassLabcoat and a pair of goggles into battle to complete the image. [[spoiler: {{Subverted}}. He's really an Epic himself, and all his 'devices' are really powered by his special abilities. What's more, he's not so much a scientist as a ''high school science teacher'', for which he took cues from ''Series/BillNyeTheScienceGuy''.]]

* This is a common character archetype in the ''Roleplay/GlobalGuardiansPBEMUniverse''. Prototype, Herr Doktor Archeville, Technomancer, Wi-Fi, Doctor Tomorrowland, and Solomon are all examples.

* ''Disney/BigHero6'' is about a team of self-proclaimed nerds who fight evil with science/tech-created superpowers TwentyMinutesIntoTheFuture.
* ''Disney/AtlantisTheLostEmpire'' has Milo Thatch, who uses his linguist abilities to operate ancient technology, revive a dying civilization, [[spoiler:And save the princess from a band of mercenaries.]]

* ''ComicBook/ArchieComicsSonicTheHedgehog'': There's a few of these peppered around, like Rotor, Uncle Chuck, Dr. Robotnik's Moebius counterpart, [[ChronicBackstabbingDisorder Dr. Robotnik himself]] at one point...

* Tails of ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog''. In the games this mostly means "hook up a [[GreenRocks Chaos Emerald]] to pretty much anything"; the comics give him more opportunities in computers and robotics.

* The argument can be made that Tails's character has been getting led in this direction since the franchise made its jump to animation. ''WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM'' and ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog'' both have the fox expanding his talents into engineering to combat Dr. Robotnik, while ''Anime/SonicX'' let him create most of the equipment they used to against Dr. Eggman and the Metarex. (The tie-in comic even went so far as to show Tails easily gain access to an alien craft the Station Square government couldn't.) This is brought even further in the new cartoon of ''WesternAnimation/SonicBoom'' wherein most episodes that feature Tails as a major character tend to have him wielding some new invention he's built either to combat Eggman or improve the lives of his fellow villagers. Of course, in the grand tradition of the Science KidHero, this last part sometimes causes more problems than it solves.
