* ''Film/Batman1989'': In an interview, Tim Burton said there were plans to have Creator/AdamWest and Creator/JulieNewmar as Thomas and Martha. In a separate interview, West said he was never contacted, implying this idea [[WhatCouldHaveBeen didn't get very far]] (West also said if they did offer him, he probably would have refused). * In ''Film/TheIncredibleHulk2008'', Creator/LouFerrigno, who played the Hulk in [[Series/TheIncredibleHulk1977 the 1970s TV show]], appears as a security guard at a university.

* ''Series/AvataroSentaiDonbrothers'': Kaito, the team's MissionControl, is explicitly an AlternateSelf of TheHero of the previous season Kaito Goshikida, making it this rather than a straight RoleReprise. The show's RunningGag involves Kaito's past constantly getting more and more mysterious as the show goes on. In the non-canon RecapEpisode, Kaito declares himself the winner of the MVP Award because [[spoiler:of his previous self's contributions during ''Series/KikaiSentaiZenkaiger''.]]

** Creator/TroyBaker, who voiced Joel in the original game, now plays James in the TV show.

* ''Series/{{Nikita}}'': Creator/AlbertaWatson played Madeline in ''Series/LaFemmeNikita''. In the 2010 reboot, she plays Senator [[MythologyGag Madeline]] Pierce, a member of the group that created Division and the mother of Alex's love interest.

** Likewise, Creator/MargotKidder, who co-starred with Reeve as Lois Lane, plays Bridgette Crosby, while Creator/MarcMcClure, who played Jimmy Olsen, played Dax-Ur.

** Creator/AnnetteOToole played Lana Lang in ''Film/SupermanIII''. In the show, she plays Martha Kent.
** Creator/TerenceStamp goes from playing General Zod in ''Film/SupermanII'' to playing the Jor-El A.I.
** The villain Curtis Knox is played by Creator/DeanCain, who portrayed Superman in ''Lois & Clark''.

* Andrea [=McArdle=] created the role of the lovable titular orphan in ''Theatre/{{Annie}}'', and played her abusive caretaker Miss Hannigan in a 2010 regional production.

** ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'': In the episode "Chill of the Night!" Batman is given the opportunity to travel back in time and meet his parents on the night of their murder. His father Thomas Wayne is voiced by Creator/AdamWest who played Bruce Wayne in ''Series/Batman1966'', and is accompanied by Martha Wayne, who is voiced by Julie Newmar who played Batman's frequent love interest Catwoman in the same series. Since they are at a Masquerade ball, Thomas is dressed in a costume reminiscent of Batman's earliest comic appearances, which Batman thinks must have inspired his own costume. Later in the scene, the ball is attacked by thieves, and Batman and Thomas work together to defeat them by throwing cutlery like batrangs. Thomas also calls Batman "Old Chum", which is what Adam West's version of Batman would call Robin.

** ''WesternAnimation/TheBatman'' features Creator/AdamWest as the mayor of Gotham City for the first two seasons, along with Creator/FrankGorshin, formerly the Riddler, as Hugo Strange for a few episodes before Gorshin's death.

** Similarly, ''WesternAnimation/RiseOfTheTeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'' features Creator/HoonLee, who voiced Splinter in the 2012 series, as the voice of Shredder, ironically enough. There is also an episode featuring a group of characters voiced by Creator/SethGreen, Creator/RobPaulsen, and Creator/GregCipes, who all voiced Leonardo, Donatello, and Michelangelo in that series as well.

* ''WesternAnimation/XMen97'', a continuation of ''WesternAnimation/XMenTheAnimatedSeries'' brings back a majority of the original voice cast to reprise their roles, except for Creator/AlysonCourt, who decided to step down as Jubilee so that an Asian actress can take the role. Instead, Court voices Abcissa, a Virtual Reality replica of Jubilee.

In a cross between this and ComicBookFantasyCasting, the parents of ComicBook/MightyMorphinPowerRangersBoomStudios are drawn to resemble the original actors from the show. Billy's dad looks like David Yost, Kimberly's mom looks like Amy Jo Johnson , etc.

* ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesOutOfTheShadows'': In a deleted scene, April, Creator/MeganFox, a street-level reporter is called in to meet with the head of the network Rita, played by Creator/JudithHoag who played April herself in ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles1990''. Further Rita offers April an anchor desk, which is what Judith's April was vying for in her time. ** In the seventh season of ''Series/{{Smallville}}'', Lara El, Clark's birth mother and Kara Zor-El's aunt, is played by Creator/HelenSlater, who played Kara Zor-El in ''Film/Supergirl1984''.

The film would be dedicated in his memory alongside Creator/AntonYelchin, who played Chekhov in the Kelvin timeline films.

A fairly common CastingGag closely related to the RemakeCameo. This is when an actor from one iteration of a series is brought back to play their previous character's InUniverse predecessor in a remake or adaption.

** Kara's adoptive mother Eliza Danvers is played by Creator/HelenSlater, who played Kara in the 1984 ''Film/{{Supergirl}}''. Alex, Eliza's biological daughter, even notes how her mom ironically looks more like Kara than like her. On a lesser note, her adoptive father is played by Creator/DeanCain, who had previously played Supergirl's cousin Superman in ''Series/LoisAndClark''.
