* In ''Discworld/TheFifthElephant'', Vimes keeps his underwear on while bathing in a wilderness hot spring. The werewolf who's hunting him makes fun of him over this.

A character takes a shower or a bath without being naked or is shown in the bath or shower in their underwear, a swimsuit or regular clothes. This may happen during BathtubBonding between a man and a woman. Sometimes no-one seems to mention or even notice that the character is still clothed. The obvious reason: It's a heck of a lot easier to film (for a PG rating!) than if the bather were nude. Frequently results when a DigitalBikini is added to edited anime. Sometimes, it's the result of a ShowerShy character being forced into a situation where he/she needs to shower in a locker room or what have you.

* On the ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' short "Hare Tonic", Elmer Fudd rushes into the shower when he thinks he has contracted "the dread disease Rabititus" from WesternAnimation/BugsBunny. The gag is that Bugs is in the shower as well, pretending to be the faucet, but what's also funny is that Elmer still has his briefs on.

* In an episode of ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'', JD garners some odd looks for his Shower Shorts "For the man who has nothing to hide- but still wants to!".

* ''Manga/Beelzebub'': In chapter 222, [[MsFanservice Nene]] is taking a shower at her house while one of the split up mini forms of Furuichi is hiding in the bathroom [[EatingTheEyeCandy watching]] her SexySilhouette from a distance. When Nene walks out of the shower, it's [[CensorSteam steamy and she looks as if she is completely naked]] while drying herself off with a ModestyTowel (Furuichi makes a 4th wall breaking comment asking if the CensorSteam is going to be removed when this chapter gets printed in the volumes). She then reveals to him that she knew he was going to try to peek and the steam clears up to show that she was actually showering in a bikini the whole time. But he says that it still doesn't matter to him because it still gets him off.

* The alien wife in ''Manga/OhMySweetAlien'' chapter 7.3 wears a ''SchoolSwimsuit'' to the bath because she doesn't know Earth culture. Her human husband tells her to take it off so she does.
* In ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'', Arukenimon sulks fully dressed in an overflowing bathtub after being defeated by the [=DigiDestined=].

* In ''WesternAnimation/{{Pirates}}'', an unnamed woman in the pirate crew [[SweetPollyOliver disguised as a man]] still wears her fake beard in the bath.

* In ''Film/CourageMountain'', Heidi is upbraided by the school's teachers for ''not'' doing this.

* In the film of the book ''Literature/{{Holes}}'', Stanley bathes with his swim trunks on (the book doesn't specify if he bathes naked or not). Justified, though, since the shower has no walls and is rumored to have hidden security cameras.

* The alien wife in ''Manga/OhMySweetAlien'' wears a ''SchoolSwimsuit'' to the bath because she doesn't know Earth culture. Her human husband tells her to take it off so she does.

* In ''VideoGame/{{Fahrenheit}}'' you can have any of the three main characters take a shower at some point in the gamer. However, they do so while wearing their underwear. This is only in the American version though.

* In one episode of ''WesternAnimation/{{The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3}}'', Mario and Luigi get roped into babysitting a kid named Junior, with instructions to make sure he takes a bath. The kid wonders into the Mushroom Kingdom, and when the three get back at the end of the episode, they get there just as soon as his parents come back. Junior warns them that they won't be able to babysit again if he doesn't get his bath, so they fill the tub and just chuck him in fully clothed.

* Ikuto insists on this in ''Manga/NagasareteAirantou'' when Suzu wants to bathe with him, making her wear a towel the whole time.
* Pretty much any anime based on a Creator/KenAkamatsu manga. Seen mostly in ''Manga/LoveHina'', but it pops up in the ''Franchise/{{Negima}}'' anime a few times as well.
* Misaki and Usagi take a shower while fully clothed toward the end of the second season of ''Manga/JunjouRomantica''. Season Two was generally less explicit than Season One anyway.

* ''Manga/DetectiveConan'': Ran and Conan wear bathing suits in public baths. Save for the first time they went into an ''onsen'', that is. [[AccidentalPervert Poor Conan.]]
* ''Anime/HareGuu'' has a whole episode based on this, after Guu gives Haré the idea that bathing with your clothes on is the newest fad. Haré is just savvy enough not to take [[TheGadfly Guu]] at her word, but his attempts to debunk her story only confirm it thanks to {{Contrived Coincidence}}s in which Haré visits people just as a washing machine overflows or they're cleaning the bathroom. On a trip to the jungle hot springs, Haré tries to put the fad into practice and [[ButtMonkey gets laughed at]]. He tries bathing naked only ''that'' time he realizes too late [[TheChewToy he got into the public pool area]].
* In episode 26 of the anime of ''Literature/MoribitoGuardianOfTheSpirit'' Balsa and Torogai bathe while wearing a sort of giant T-shirt (Torogai) and a flimsy slip (Balsa). This is a period piece and they are in the formal guest baths of the royal palace.
* In episode 9 of ''Anime/KemonoFriends'' several of the LittleBitBeastly Friends jump into the hot spring fully clothed until the TokenHuman among them, Kaban, points out that you're supposed to remove your clothing first. The Friends are shocked to find out their clothes even ''can'' come off and comment once they've removed them that the water is much warmer.

* In the ''ComicBook/{{Tintin}}'' story ''Tintin and the Picaros'', Professor Calculus is shown bathing in a bath robe and still wearing his trade-mark hat.

* Done by Ed in ''Film/GoodBurger''... because he ''never'' takes his Good Burger uniform off.
* ''Film/WeirdScience'': After creating the perfect woman, two nerds take a shower with her. She's naked, but they keep their jeans and socks on.
* ''Film/TheSting'': When Hooker arrives at Gondorff's home, he finds him sleeping off his drunkenness. He puts Gondorff in a shower fully clothed to sober him up.
* In the horror film ''Sick Nurses'', one of the nurses takes a shower fully clothed. Evidently, the makers of this film ''really'' wanted to avoid nudity.

* Veronica (Creator/WinonaRyder) does this in ''Film/{{Heathers}}'', in the girls' shower upon hearing that Heather Chandler's death is being venerated.
* Creator/WinonaRyder also is seen doing this in ''Film/GirlInterrupted''. She was thrown into a bathtub with her clothes still on to wake her up.
* The kid in ''Film/BigDaddy''. Likely to eliminate any very UnfortunateImplications of Adam Sandler bathing a little kid. Lampshaded: The child asks why he has to wear a bathing suit, and Sandler responds that he doesn't know the rules for bathing.

* ''Film/RockAndRollHighSchool'': Riff is fantasizing about the Ramones serenading her in her room. She goes to take a bath and is delighted to find Dee Dee fully clothed under the shower.

* Justified in the Sophia Copola film, ''Film/MarieAntoinette'' in which the eponymous Queen bathes in muslin undergarments, which is historically accurate.

Later she and Donna Hamilton (Donna Spier) are topless in the Jacuzzi when they discover that they intercepted a delivery of diamonds intended for a drug lord.

* In ''Film/BatmanVSupermanDawnOfJustice'', Clark Kent hops into Lois's bath with his work clothes still on, presumably for the sake of a [[RuleOfCool really cool shot]].
* Played with in ''Film/TheAfricanQueen''. Rose and Charlie go bathing on opposite sides of the boat, for the sake of decency. Then Rose can't climb back in on her own; there are several {{Fanservice}}-y shots of her stretching her legs out to try, with no visible clothing. Finally she asks for Charlie's help, but insists that he avert his eyes... and when he pulls her up onto the boat, it turns out she was wearing a short shift the entire time, and just has [[FullyClothedNudity the nudity taboos appropriate to the post-Victorian missionary that she is]].

* PlayedWith in ''Literature/HarryPotterAndTheGobletOfFire''. [[TheHero Harry]] is taking a bath without clothes when [[CovertPervert Moaning Myrtle]], a teenage [[OurGhostsAreDifferent ghost]] who haunts the school, shows up. [[ThePeepingTom Apparently, she had been there the whole time and makes a habit of spying on people]]. An irate Harry makes her cover her eyes before he gets out, grabs a ModestyTowel, and then gets back in the bath to hear what she wants to tell him.

* In ''Literature/TheManInTheHighCastle'', Juliana absent-mindedly gets in the shower without undressing first. Later in the scene, she answers the door naked. Both incidents serve to show how stressed out she is.

* In ''Series/MartialLaw'', when the BuddyCops go undercover in prison, the black cop goes to the shower in shorts and shirt in fear of PrisonRape.
* Done for laughs in one episode of ''Series/{{MASH}}'' where Hawkeye is so exhausted after a marathon surgery session that he forgets to undress before getting in the shower.

* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoViceCity'': On the VCPR Radio station, an over-protective mother states "My kids know when it's bath time to put on a bathing costume, Nudity leads to Bad, NAUGHTY things."
