To call something a Misogyny Song is ''not'' to accuse the writers or musicians playing it as having the attitudes toward women that the song expresses. * The song is ''not'' directed at a specific woman (like an ex-lover or ex-spouse or relative), or to tropes (like an AbusiveParent or even almost AlwaysFemale ones, like BlackWidow or GoldDigger or YokoOhNo). While said attack [[YourMileageMayVary may or may not be justified]] unless ''all'' women are equated to that woman or the song is calling ''all'' women that trope, it is a TakeThat and should be listed there (even if a distasteful or misogynist one) and ''not'' a Misogyny Song. Also, a MisogynySong can be written by/sung by either a male or female artist. A female artist who writes a song non-sarcastically telling all women all they are good for is pleasing their man has written a MisogynySong just as much as a male artist who does the same.

Has had some noticeable aversions in the Riot Grrl Punk movement at the very least.

Has a SpearCounterpart: The MisandrySong, a song bashing/dehumanizing all men. While {{MisogynySong}}s tend to rely heavily on StayInTheKitchen, RapeIsLove, RapeAsComedy, DomesticAbuse, heavy use of the DoubleStandard, and similar tropes, {{MisandrySong}}s tend to heavily rely on AllMenArePerverts, YourCheatingHeart, DisproportionateRetribution, occasionally RapeAsComedy or RapeAndRevenge.

As earlier noted, often a great source of OldShame for bands and/or artists.

ANY rap or HipHop example must be matched with one from a white/Asian/other-dominated genre, or with one from a non-African American rapper/hip-hop artist to show the obvious: {{MisogynySong}}s are NOT just a "hip-hop" thing and [[CaptainObvious have zero connection to being African-American or to being any specific race or culture or appearance at all]], but rather to institutionalized bigotry and ignorance.

* {{Clawfinger}}s "I Need You" is a subversion: The protagonist have this perspective, but it's quite clear that the singer isn't on his own persona's side. The band uses this kind of "VillainProtagonist" structure in many other songs as well.

In ''Orjatar'', the male narrator returns from [[InterplayOfSexAndViolence the hunt successful]], and reminds the female of [[StayInTheKitchen her place]], and expects sex in direct words. Her reward will be "divine pleasure". Yeah suuure.

* "If I Were a Boy" by Beyonce is arguably a MisandrySong in that it portrays men as all [[YourCheatingHeart faithless cheaters]]

** ...though, it's pretty tame in comparison to "Run For Your Life" (from ''Rubber Soul''). At its heart, the message of this song is that if you decide to end a relationship with the singer, he will brutally murder you if you don't escape him first.

* "Why Can't a Woman be More Like a Man" from ''MyFairLady''
* The Clement Peerens Explosition has "Foorwijf" and "t is altijd iets met die wijven"
* KissMeKate has both the misandrous song I Hate Men (sung by a woman) and the misogynous song (I Am Ashamed That) Women Are So Simple (also sung by a woman). Whether the latter is meant to be sarcastic is up to AlternateCharacterInterpretation.
