* "Girls & Boys" by Good Charlotte is less about overt hate and more about bitter stereotyping; its message is that girls are all {{Gold Digger}}s with an undertone of [[BeautyIsBad materialism correlating strongly with good looks]], and boys put up with the financial cost for sex. A couple of lines soften the blow a ''little'' by saying that the males aren't perfect either ("boys will laugh at girls when they're not funny") and that it's only one "type" of girl that acts like this, but the rest of the song is just blanket statements.

To call something a Misogyny Song is ''not'' to accuse the writers or musicians playing it as having the attitudes toward women that the song expresses. Some permutations of the MisogynySong can actually be StealthParody or SarcasmMode, and even played straight, may well be OldShame for someone who now has far more enlightened attitudes.

The Misogyny Song is a song solely (or primarily, to the exclusion of any other possible meaning) about the hatred or degradation of women, where a woman becomes a mere dehumanized object. This is ''not'' simply a song about sex, it is not the ObligatoryBondageSong or SexDrugsAndRockAndRoll song or IntercourseWithYou song because those can be done without absolutely dehumanizing and insulting the women involved, despite the opinions of [[StrawFeminist some]]. In fact, "sex" in a MisogynySong is little more than a ADateWithRosiePalms that just happens to involve a living objectified female...if not something [[RapeTropes worse.]]

Also, a MisogynySong can be written by/sung by either a male or female artist. A female artist who writes a song non-sarcastically telling all women all they are good for is pleasing their man has written a MisogynySong just as much as a male artist who does the same.

Has had some noticeable aversions in the Riot Grrl Punk movement at the very least.

Has a SpearCounterpart: The MisandrySong, a song bashing/dehumanizing all men. While {{MisogynySong}}s tend to rely heavily on StayInTheKitchen, RapeIsLove, RapeAsComedy, DomesticAbuse, heavy use of the DoubleStandard, and similar tropes, {{MisandrySong}}s tend to heavily rely on AllMenArePerverts, YourCheatingHeart, DisproportionateRetribution, occasionally RapeAsComedy or RapeAndRevenge.

As earlier noted, often a great source of OldShame for bands and/or artists.

Finally: This is NOT the place for [[ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontLike Complaining About Songs You Do Not Like]]. Any {{Natter}} will be zapped the moment it appears, as will ANY ConversationInTheMainPage.

ANY rap or HipHop example must be matched with one from a white/Asian/other-dominated genre, or with one from a non-African American rapper/hip-hop artist to show the obvious: {{MisogynySong}}s are NOT just a "hip-hop" thing and [[CaptainObvious have zero connection to being African-American or to being any specific race or culture or appearance at all]], but rather to institutionalized bigotry and ignorance.

To call something a MisogynySong is ''not'' to accuse the writers or musicians playing it as having the attitudes toward women that the song expresses (some permutations of the MisogynySong can actually be StealthParody or SarcasmMode, and even played straight, may well be OldShame for someone who now has far more enlightened attitudes.

\nAs earlier noted, often a great source of OldShame for bands and/or artists.

Finally: This is NOT the place for [[ComplainingAboutShowsYouDoNotLike Complaining About Songs You Do Not Like]]. Any {{Natter}} will be zapped the moment it appears, as will ANY ConversationInTheMainPage.

ANY rap or HipHop example must be matched with one from a white/Asian/other-dominated genre, or with one from a non-African American rapper/hip-hop artist to show the obvious: {{MisogynySong}}s are NOT just a "hip-hop" thing and [[CaptainObvious have zero connection to being African-American or to being any specific race or culture or appearance at all.]], but rather to institutionalized bigotry and ignorance.

*''[[GoGoEnslavement Orjatar]]'' ("slave girl") by TeräBetoni, a group that's all about days of glory and brotherhood (preferably pre-Medeival, which in Finland, its home country, would be Iron Age) -- much like ManOWar. In ''Orjatar'', the male narrator returns from [[InterplayOfSexAndViolence the hunt successful]], and reminds the female of [[StayInTheKitchen her place]], and expects sex in direct words. Her reward will be "divine pleasure". Yeah suuure.
*"Playing Games." Lyrics here: http://www.mp3lyrics.org/l/loudness/playing/ (it's a lyrics site so have adblock activated and don't use an insecure computer). OldShame for a band that doesn't tend toward these sort of songs now but... eeeurrrgggghhh. *grabs the bottle of brain bleach from the RapeTropes section* Sad thing is, I actually like it somewhat but.... rape. NoJustNo.

Has had some noticeable aversions in the RiotGrrl {{Punk}} movement and in at least one all-female HeavyMetal band whose songs focused on the oppression of women.

Has a SpearCounterpart: The MisandrySong, a song bashing/dehumanizing all men. While MisogynySongs tend to rely heavily on StayInTheKitchen, RapeIsLove, RapeAsComedy, DomesticAbuse, heavy use of the DoubleStandard, and similar tropes, MisandrySongs tend to heavily rely on AllMenArePerverts, YourCheatingHeart, DisproportionateRetribution, occasionally RapeAsComedy or RapeAndRevenge.
