** Neptune/PurpleHeart, the patron deity of Planeptune, is a lazy slacker who prefers to spend her days eating snacks and playing video games. Most games imply that the only reason Planeptune has ''any'' [[GodsNeedPrayerBadly Shares (faith)]] is because of the hard work of [[HypercompetentSidekick her Oracle, her little sister, and her human friends]]. * ''Literature/LoomingGaia'': Some divines have ended up as total losers who get nobody's respect, with the biggest examples being Erasmos and Krozlaug.
** In his mortal life, Erasmos was rejected by everyone because of his ugly face, lecherous personality, and diseases contracted from prostitutes. Upon being granted divinity, he created SuccubiAndIncubi to be his glorified sex slaves, but once he ended up unable to satisfy all of them, they all cursed him with even more diseases and escaped. The demons preying on people to feed on sex and multiplying only soured his reputation, leading to him spending his eternal life hidden alone in his temple and spending his rare offerings given out of pity on prostitutes.
** Krozlaug forged cyclops monsters and sold them to mines, but the monsters ended up hard to control, causing deaths and property damage. Krozlaug lost all his fortune buying himself out of prison, and is still homeless and largely forgotten about centuries later.

* [[Characters/KonoSubaAqua Aqua]] from ''Literature/{{KonoSuba}}'' might be [[TropeCodifier the most well-known example]] in the anime community due to her [[MemeticMutation memetic status]]. She is known by the InUniverseNickname of "Damegami" ("Useless Goddess") and serves as Kazuma's verbal punching bag. Most of her powers have no use beyond party tricks, and [[ForgotAboutHisPowers she tends to either forget about her genuinely useful abilities]] [[NiceJobBreakingItHero or use them in ways that make matters worse]]. Added to that, she is childishly jealous of the younger goddess Eris for being a ReasonableAuthorityFigure with a highly successful religion, whereas, due to sending vague and petty commands and leaving them to their own devices, hers has been filled with deranged lunatics. As a result, whenever Aqua tries to explain who she is, Eris followers assume she's crazy and her own followers try to kill her for blasphemy. Kazuma makes no attempt to hide his utter disdain for Aqua's incompetence, and has stated many times he'd happily trade her off if he could.
