* This is probably what Grignr of ''Literature/TheEyeOfArgon'' was ''supposed'' to be wearing, but the word that actually ended up being used was "[[{{Malapropism}} g-string]]". How it had folds is anyone's guess.

Quite often overlaps with a [[WalkingShirtlessScene (Walking)]] ShirtlessScene. Sometimes the wearer DoesNotLikeShoes. Also can be worn by women, either with or without a matching bikini top.

One of them, the "Barbarian Hero" set, is basically Conan the Barbarian's iconic outfit: fur loin cloth, fur boots, bracers, and a leather circlet. A similar outfit can be found in the ''VideoGame/ConanHyborianAge'' mod.

* ''The Feathered Serpent'', a British young adult show from the 1970s set in [[{{Mayincatec}} Aztec Mexico]], sometimes has fit young men just wearing loincloths. The handsome Prince Heumac has a couple of loincloth scenes. In one of them he's [[HoYay accompanied by his servant Tozo]] (who's more conservatively dressed), while in the other he's [[FoeYay engaged in ritual combat]] with another guy in a loincloth.

* Bwana Beast in DC somewhat subverts this: he wears a loincloth over a pair of animal skin shorts. He may be the only example of a hero wearing their UnderwearOfPower on the outside . . . of their UnderwearOfPower. His succesor, Freedom Beast, tried to live down the more ridiculous aspects of his predecessor, including this one.

* Disney/{{Moana}}: Deuteragonist Maui wears nothing more than a leaf loincloth and animal-tooth necklace because his whole body is covered in {{AnimatedTattoo}}s which need to be exposed as they add depth and commentary to the ongoing story.

* The main character from {{Atari}}'s ''Pinball/{{Hercules}}'' pinball, as seen on both the backglass and playfield.

* In ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'', [[PeopleZoo the Zoomans]], both male and female, wear white loincloths along with blue vests and earrings. For the females, the loincloths are designed to be high enough to cover up their breasts.

* Both Rau and Tati wear these in RiseOfTheKasai.

* Disney/{{Moana}} / [[DubNameChange Vaiana]]: Deuteragonist Maui appears naked (justified / significant because his whole body is covered in tattoos that are so significant and important to the story that they need to be shown to add depth to the story; plus the climate the movie takes place in justifies it) during the whole movie / story, except of course for his loin area which is neatly covered with assorted leafs, presumably from local (thus geographically and culturally appropriate) flora.

In essence, a '''Loincloth''' is lower body underwear made of cloth or hides. Sometimes it's just a flap over the crotch and rear, and sometimes it's woven like actual briefs.
