Well, for whatever reason may be, the heroes have survived, but now have somehow been separated during the quest. Friends, family, or just people that are happy to see each other. When they finally meet back up, they take a moment to celebrate their reunion, but it must be cut short. They are quickly reminded that they have no time to spare and must continue on with their goal.

This trope is used to describe a situation that arises when a character or group of characters accomplish something worth celebrating over, but the moment is cut short when someone or something, usually the OnlySaneMan, reminds them that they're not out of the woods just yet... [[SomethingWeForgot Or they just simply forget.]] This is very much TruthInTelevision in athletic contests - sometimes someone showboats a bit too soon and winds up [[LastSecondShowoff blowing their chance at victory because of it]].

* ''Literature/MineWereOfTrouble:'' During the Spanish Civil War, a pair of Nationalist air force pilots hear victory proclaimed over a nearby town. Gathering all the booze they can get their hands on to celebrate, they fly into town and greet the soldiers there by saluting Franco, only to find the town is still very much in Republican hands, and that they're under arrest. Both of them barely end up escaping with their lives.

* Happens twice near the end of ''Literature/GoodOmens''. First, Aziraphale is excited to see [[AntiAntichrist Adam Young]] successfully leading his friends against the HorsemenOfTheApocalypse and stopping TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt. Crowley then points out that the leaders of Heaven and Hell are still itching for the Great War, and will probably be a lot harder to convince. And just when they convince Beelzebub and the Metaton to put the war on hold, Satan himself prepares to make a big entrance and deal with things himself, only being thwarted by Adam turning his RealityWarper abilities so that when his "father" shows up to scold him, it's his human father Mr. Young who appears.

* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama'': In the penultimate episode, [[Characters/TotalDramaJulia Julia]] begins ordering tons of stuff online thinking the million will be in the bag once she breezes through the challenge like always and head onto the finale. After Priya wins immunity instead at the last second, she then assumed her guaranteed spot as a finalist when Chris implied the elimination is a tie and a new rule determines that the one who won the most immunity challenges of the two is automatically safe (having three immunities to Millie's one). Unfortunately for her, Bowie keeps his promise to Millie and Priya in voting Julia off and now she has nothing to show for her efforts than cancelling the shipload of orders before they go through, not to mention that because how the Drone of Despair takes her while she is still cancelling her purchases, she may not have been able to cancel some of them and now may have financial issues.
