They greet each other as old friends, not as [[OldFlame former lovers]], which contrasts Lestat openly necking his mistress Antoinette Brown. When Louis asks Jonah, "You ever think about those old days when we were kids?", Jonah visibly becomes tense and stays silent because he knows that Louis isn't just talking about when they were [[ChildhoodFriends innocent children]], but also when they had a [[ChildhoodFriendRomance romantic/sexual relationship as teenagers]]. They later go to the bayou for a tryst because it's secluded and very dark at night (and thus it's unlikely they'd be spotted by prying eyes -- well, other than [[ThePeepingTom Lestat's]]), and it's hinted that it was routine for the adolescent Jonah and Louis to come here to have sex.

** Lucy turns out to be a lesbian as well, in love with Mina. She and Lady Jayne, who's bisexual, were also once involved. Both keep the fact private.
