* Many consider Creator/DanWoren to be the iconic voice for Igor from the {{Franchise/Persona}} series, due to his unique style creating a character that is both highly trustworthy, yet incredibly mysterious in his origins.

* It's pretty much a requirement for ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'' let's-players nowadays to read Papyrus's dialogue in [[WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse1983 Skeletor's]] voice. Likewise, Sans often sounds like WebVideo/{{Critikal}} (or [[Franchise/SpongeBobSquarePants Patrick Star]]; Sans' only voice clip, an "ay" sound, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eidb9_gFLss was taken from a clip of Patrick saying "maybe it's the way you're dressed"]]). And a lot of people can't hear Flowey as anyone except WebVideo/JackSepticEye now. Alternatively, fans of ''WebVideo/UndertaleTheMusical'' can place that production's cast into the roles of the characters they portray.

* ''Franchise/SuperMarioBros'':
** The voice a given fan associates with Mario largely depends on the age of the fan and how they got introduced to the character:

*** Among those who were introduced to the games in the 21st century, Bowser is typically associated with Scott Burns' portrayal from ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine'', thanks to it being the only time Bowser was ever fully voiced in a mainline ''Mario'' title. Burns' version of Bowser is so firmly etched into the public consciousness that it influenced incumbent voice actor Kenny James' take on the role.
*** In TheNewTwenties, many fans started associating Bowser with Creator/JackBlack's performance from ''WesternAnimation/TheSuperMarioBrosMovie'' thanks to many viewers considering him the highlight of the film's otherwise controversial casting.
* Has anyone who has seen the animated adaptation of ''VideoGame/PacMan'' been able to play the game and not think of Marty Ingels?

* This is one of the points of contention in the ''Franchise/TouhouProject'' games: While many video fan works featuring the characters were voiced by fans, it was not until the ''Anime/MusouKakyouASummerDaysDream'' fanime (who was voiced by professional voice actors and not fans) when you cannot picture the characters with other voices, especially Creator/MaiNakahara's rendition of Reimu Hakurei. This is averted in the ''VideoGame/KoumajouDensetsu'' doujin game: Despise being also voiced by professional voice actors, since the whole topic of the game is an AlternateUniverseFic of the whole franchise, this is not a big problem per se, since the personalities of the characters in this game are different from the established canon. Nevertheless, everyone pretty much agree that Creator/MiyukiSawashiro's frosty adult woman voice is the best Sakuya Izayoi. Many people tend to hear Miko as Cirno's voice due to [[Music/{{IOSYS}} Cirno's Perfect Math Class]].
* Are you an aspiring amateur Website/YouTube voice actor and want to make your own [[Franchise/{{Metroid}} Ridley]] voice? Be prepared to see your comments section flooded with complaints that you didn't give him [[{{LetsPlay/Slowbeef}} a screechy New Jersey accent]].

* After ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry3DantesAwakening'', let's face it, you can't imagine Dante not being voiced by Creator/ReubenLangdon.
* It's hard to imagine playing a ''Franchise/MortalKombat'' game without hearing Creator/CaryHiroyukiTagawa as the voice of Shang Tsung. It's worth noting that Creator/AlanLee emulates much of Tagawa's mannerisms.
* For anyone who's ever played ''VideoGame/DukeNukem'', Creator/JonStJohn ''is'' Duke.

* Even across various iterations of the character, most fans will hear any character named [[Franchise/{{Transformers}} Optimus Prime]] as Creator/PeterCullen when reading the various comics. While notables such as Creator/DavidKaye, Creator/NeilKaplan, and Creator/GaryChalk have all voiced characters named Optimus Prime, most people know Peter's deep, sagely voice from the [[WesternAnimation/TheTransformers original cartoon,]] [[Film/TransformersFilmSeries live-action movies,]] [[VideoGame/TransformersWarForCybertron video]] [[VideoGame/TransformersFallOfCybertron games,]] and ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime''.

** For Doctor Robotnik/Eggman, it's either Creator/LongJohnBaldry (''[=AoSTH=]''), Creator/{{Jim Cummings|VoiceActor}} (''[=SatAM=]''), Creator/GaryChalk (''WesternAnimation/SonicUnderground''), Creator/JimCarrey (movie series) or Creator/MikePollock. In fact, it's safe to say that Mike Pollock is this trope to SEGA themselves. Since he started voicing Eggman, the entire cast of voice actors in the games has been replaced ''twice'' and yet he's stuck around, simply because they just couldn't find anyone else who fit the role as well as him.

* Depending on which continuity you grew up on, [[Franchise/TheTransformers Optimus Prime]] is either Creator/PeterCullen or Creator/GaryChalk or Creator/DavidKaye. The same applies to Megatron; either you hear Creator/FrankWelker's, Creator/DavidKaye's, Creator/HugoWeaving's or possibly even Creator/FredTatasciore's take on Megatron, depending on his characterization.

** Creator/JimmyBennett for the few times he voiced Rerun Van Pelt in the early 2000s is completely unmistakable in the role.

** Creator/MattRyan IS ComicBook/JohnConstantine.

* And after that, try reading ''Literature/TheHitchhikersGuideToTheGalaxy'' after watching the movie without interpreting the characters as their movie counterparts. Marvin and the Narrator are probably the best examples. If you've heard the radio series or seen the BBC TV series, it's hard not to hear Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, though this was deliberate. Creator/DouglasAdams wrote the character with Jones in mind.

* For many fans of Franchise/TheSmurfs, the Hanna-Barbera iterations of the characters are the voices that are imagined when reading printed content. This is particularly the case for Creator/DonMessick as Papa Smurf, Lucille Bliss as Smurfette, Creator/PaulWinchell as Gargamel, and Danny Goldman as Brainy.
