* ''WesternAnimation/InfinityTrain'' Seasonal anthology with recurring setting.

* ''WesternAnimation/MaxiesWorld'', a 1989 series that also featured episodes from ''WesternAnimation/BeverlyHillsTeens'' and the animated ''Series/PunkyBrewster''.

* ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse'' does this with a FramingDevice. Before that, it was known as ''WesternAnimation/MickeyMouseWorks'', which was a straight-up anthology.

* Creator/CartoonNetwork had the ''WesternAnimation/WhatACartoonShow'', with all of the shorts serving as {{pilot}} episodes for potential standalone series. ''WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory'', ''WesternAnimation/CowAndChicken'', ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'' ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'', and ''WesternAnimation/JohnnyBravo'' resulted from it. One of the shorts that wasn't greenlit for series, ''WesternAnimation/LarryAndSteve'', would eventually become Creator/{{Fox}}'s ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''.
** A retooled version of the series, known as ''The Cartoon Cartoon Show'', led to the creation of ''WesternAnimation/SheepInTheBigCity'', ''WesternAnimation/MikeLuAndOg'', ''WesternAnimation/TheGrimAdventuresOfBillyAndMandy'', ''WesternAnimation/CodenameKidsNextDoor'', ''WesternAnimation/WhateverHappenedToRobotJones'', and ''WesternAnimation/MegasXLR''.

* Creator/{{Nickelodeon}} similarly had ''WesternAnimation/OhYeahCartoons'' as a breeding ground for new series, with ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'', ''WesternAnimation/ChalkZone'', and ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'' eventually being greenlit out of the anthology program. The former two, alongside ''WesternAnimation/MinaAndTheCount'', served as recurring sketches on the program as well.
** Nickelodeon later did "''WesternAnimation/RandomCartoons'', which gave us ''WesternAnimation/FanboyAndChumChum'', ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' (which would become a Cartoon Network series), and ''WebAnimation/BravestWarriors'' (which became a [[Creator/FrederatorStudios Cartoon Hangover]] web series instead).
* Creator/DisneyChannel attempted their own short-lived series called "WesternAnimation/ShortyMcShortsShorts", which aired individual animated shorts in-between the network's other programming rather than together in a packaged format. Nothing came out of it except ''WesternAnimation/SheZow'', which would be greenlit by Creator/TheHub years later.

Often uses recycled material that was originally intended for an adult, movie-going audience and can result in controversy and censorship (e.g., All the Warner Brothers cartoons from the 1930s to 1950s that were recycled on the various Bugs Bunny shows).

Recent shows that are made for the anthology format can vary the relative lengths of the shorts under their umbrella, and can vary which short series are shown episode to episode. For a more rigid structure, see ThreeShorts, a variant on this format.

Note that modern, packaged AA shows use the conventions and devices of SketchComedy quite liberally. Shows of this type occasionally devote their entire time slot to one single story, or do the entire show with a single theme.

** Nickelodeon later did "''WesternAnimation/RandomCartoons'', which gave us ''WesternAnimation/FanboyAndChumChum'', ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' (which would become a Cartoon Network series), and ''WebAnimation/BravestWarriors'' (which became a Creator/FederatorStudios web series instead).

* Cartoon Network had a show called "Cartoonistute", created by [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls Craig]] [[WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends McCracken]] and [[WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot Rob Renzetti]], that fit this format. Two were greenlit into their own series: ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' and ''WesternAnimation/UncleGrandpa''. The latter initially came out as the spinoff ''WesternAnimation/SecretMountainFortAwesome'' before becoming its own series.
** And CN previously did ''WesternAnimation/WhatACartoonShow'', with some of the showcased shorts later becoming "Cartoon Cartoons".
