A VacationEpisode wherein the cast packs up and travels to UsefulNotes/{{Hawaii}}, land of HulaAndLuaus and (of course) {{Hawaiian Shirted Tourist}}s.[[note]]Not to be confused with an episode set in Aloha (pronounced uh-low-uh), Oregon.[[/note]]

Often a thinly veiled excuse for a BeachEpisode, if not outright inexplicable considering how expensive traveling there can be for mainlanders. Expect to see a huge number of native Hawaiians, even though they make up less than a quarter of the population, and a majority of Hawaiians are Asian or part-Asian. Hawaii-themed episodes seemed to reach the peak of their popularity back in the [[TheSeventies 1970s]] and [[TheEighties '80s]], when shows like ''Series/HawaiiFiveO'', ''Series/FantasyIsland'', and ''Series/MagnumPI'' were on the air and going strong.

* The ''Series/{{Monk}}'' novel ''Mr. Monk Goes to Hawaii'' has Adrian Monk and Natalie Teeger travel to the Hawaiian island of Kauai. Natalie goes to be a bridesmaid at a friend's wedding, while Monk tags along because he can't function without Natalie. Then the duo stumbles upon a rash of criminal activity going on around the place.
** This does happen in-series, in a way, in "Mr. Monk and the Bad Girlfriend". Stottlemeyer is planning to take his girlfriend Linda Fusco to Hawaii, supposedly to propose to her, but then Monk and Natalie expose Linda as having killed her ex-business partner. So after Linda is arrested, we see Stottlemeyer has taken Randy along with him instead. He then tosses away the ring he apparently intended to use to propose to Linda.
* ''Literature/DaysOfInfamy'' by Creator/HarryTurtledove explores the (global) consequences of how UsefulNotes/WW2 would have panned out if the Japanese had followed through Pearl Harbor with a full-scale invasion and occupation of Hawaii. As well as altering the course of the wider war, occupation would not have been fun for American citizens of all ethnicities.

* In ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'', if [[WesternAnimation/LiloAndStitch Stitch]] is summoned, Sora will be warped to Hawaii to be greeted by the little alien before returning to the world he was in before. This is quite amusing if triggered in a world with form change, as it will result in Sora standing in Hawaii in vampire garb or in grey armor with cyan TronLines.
* ''VideoGame/Persona5'' features a school trip to Hawaii for its main cast mid-way into the game. Interestingly, the characters complain about how mundane they find the whole experience, basically doing nothing out of their ordinary routines.
* ''VideoGame/FateGrandOrder'': The "Servant Summer Festival" event takes place on a week-long Hawaii vacation where time mysteriously keeps looping. Funnily enough, the guts of the event were more about making {{doujinshi}} for the local FanConvention that was running at the same time than about the fact that it was in Hawaii (though it might have been due to the fact that [[RealLifeWritesThePlot Comiket was happening when the event came around]]).

* A popular honeymoon destination.
* Hawaiʻi's got a ''lot'' of international tourists - while the main draw is Japan, many tourists come over from all over Asia (India included) and Europe.
* Disney's Polynesian Village Resort at Ride/WaltDisneyWorld is an entire vacation resort based on this stereotype: all of the buildings are modeled on massively oversized longhouses and various "Hawaiian" music is played (often ukulele tunes) throughout the resort. All of the hotel buildings are named after Pacific islands and chains like Hawaii, Tonga, and Tahiti. Guests entering the Great Ceremonial House (the main building) are often given a lei and a fire dancing/torch lighting ceremony is held every day just before evening. This is only the tip of the iceberg.
** There is a Disney Resort on Hawaiʻi itself, on Oʻahu, called Aulani.
* Resorts on Hawaiʻi itself have been doing something similar for quite a while as well, with paid luaus. All of the Luaus will have a dance: if it's not exploring every culture of the Polynesian islands, they'll demonstrate the various forms of Hula. Kalua pig (a pig pressure-cooked underground) is a must.
