Sam-I-Am sounds somewhat like [[WesternAnimation/DastardlyAndMuttleyInTheirFlyingMachines Dick Dastardly]], while the nameless guy sounds almost exactly like [[Disney/TheManyAdventuresOfWinnieThePooh Tigger]].

The book was written as the result of a friendly bet: Seuss's publisher was impressed that ''TheCatInTheHat'' was written using fewer than 300 different words, and bet Seuss that he couldn't write another one with a coherent plot [[UpToEleven using only 50 different words]]. Seuss hit it right on target.

** In 2012, as part of promotion for ''WesternAnimation/TheLorax'' movie, InternationalHouseOfPancakes offers Green Eggs and Ham, mixing spinach with scrambled eggs.

An AnimatedAdaptation was featured as part of the TV special ''Dr. Seuss on the Loose''. The Canadian band Moxy Fruvous also sang a funky rap song using an adaptation of the book. It also got an adaptation as a LivingBooks title. Inspired the title of the beginner snare drum solo, ''[[PunnyName Green Eggs and Flam]]''.

** The latter gets double points for this because when he tries the green eggs and ham and likes it, he laughs with an all-too-familiar "Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!".
