* {{Troll}}: Another RunningGag is Max trying to weed out disruptive people in the chatroom by saying deliberately provocative things about something popular; ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosMelee'' is a recurring target, with Max saying it's not a real fighting game and that people who play it dosn't shower. This usually includes a moment where Max {{Stage Whisper}}s into the microphone "I'm trying to get rid of the twelve-year-olds, chatroom!"
** All of the guys love trolling anime fans, usually by talking shit about modern shows and popular trends or by deliberately getting their facts wrong (conflating shows like ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'', ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'', and ''Manga/OnePiece'' into a single story). That said, most of the guys do actually like anime (though their tastes lean towards shows made in the late 90s and early 2000s) while Simmons is the only one who seems to honestly dislike all anime made past a certain date[[note]]He's claimed that watching ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' will destroy one's ability to enjoy any other anime ever again[[/note]].

* VitriolicBestBuds: In a strange sense, Max has this relationship with his regular chat audience: He regularly makes fun of them (often acting like an abusive father), and they try to troll him right back. However, Max also makes it clear how much he appreciates his audience for being great people, saying that he's proud to have one of if not THE best chatroom on all of Twitch, and obviously the viewers wouldn't be there if they didn't enjoy Max's content and personality.

** All of the guys (but especially Simmons) love trolling anime fans by talking shit about modern shows and trends like {{Moe}}. That said, they were all anime fans in the past[[note]]Their tastes tended to run towards stuff popular in the late 90s and early 2000s like ''Anime/NinjaScroll''[[/note]], there are indications that they like more of modern anime than they let on (Max seems to have more than a passing knowledge of ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'', while Kenny is a fan of ''Manga/MyHeroAcademia'' and ''WebComic/OnePunchMan'' and tried to get Steve to watch ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'').

* BerserkButton: Do NOT say "Shut up and play the game already!" in Max's chatroom. At best, you're getting a ten minute time-out from one of the moderators; if Max himself catches you, you're getting perma-banned. You have been warned.

* ButtMonkey: Steve gets a lot of playful abuse from both the guys and the stream chat (who refer to him as "Steeb"). Popular targets include him "ducking"[[note]]running away from challenges or [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere bailing]] when things don't go his way[[/note]], his love of [[Franchise/MortalKombat Sheeva]], and his fervent insistence that [[Franchise/StreetFighter Ryu and Chun Li]] are an OfficialCouple. It's all in good fun though.

Yo Videogames is the alternate channel of [[LetsPlay/TheOnlineWarrior Maximilian Christiansen]] (aka "[[https://www.youtube.com/user/Miles923 Miles923]]") created November 24, 2011, dedicated to playthroughs of video games that aren't of the Fighting variety. Usually accompanied by Dr. Doom's actor for ''WebVideo/AssistMe'' Matthew Simmons (Although there may be more people or just Max on his own), Max goes through various videogames, either by playing them himself or by coaching someone else (usually Simmons). When it comes to livestreaming (which happens on Max's channel on most weekends), Max and Simmons are usually joined by their friends Kenny O'Brian and Steve Springer. In 2017 Max's wife Jessica started a cooking channel dubbed "[[https://www.twitch.tv/jae_benny PB & JaeJae]]", where she's joined by guest chefs like Max's sister Tess or (on Mother's Day) by Max's mother.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Most of the games in Max's catalogue have yet to see the end. Granted, Max's library is HUGE.

* AnimalMotifs: If Tokyo Jungle is anything to go by, dogs (Pomeranians, to be precise) for Max, Saber-toothed tigers for Matt.

* KnowNothingKnowItAll: PlayedForLaughs; Max and co. will often claim they are experts in things that they clearly have no interest or understanding of. This is most often seen when they are faced with a reference to Japanese anime or games. Even when the chat tries to correct them they'll ignore it and claim they are right.

* GamerChick: Max's wife, Jessica, is this to some regard. She isn't much of a hardcore gamer, but sometimes joins her husband in some of his Let's Plays. Notably, she made a full playthrough of VideoGame/NiNoKuni with Max (both are big Creator/StudioGhibli fans) and participates in rounds of VideoGame/SuperSmashBros with Max and Matt. She's also very good at puzzle games, to the point where '''she''' was the boss of their ''Puyo Puyo Tetris'' Boss Rage video. There's also Max's sister Tess (X-23 from WebVideo/AssistMe), who is an avid VideoGame/CrazyTaxi fan, but is only well-versed in games she and Max have played together growing up, like VideoGame/SuperMarioBros.

* ''Franchise/DevilMayCry'' (All 4 games and ''VideoGame/DmCDevilMayCry'')

* EntertaininglyWrong: Something of a RunningGag. Whenever the guys come across a reference to something, especially to an anime or other Japanese property, they intentionally claim it's from something completely different just to get a rise out of any fans in the chat. This is best seen whenever viewing user created content such as the Create a Soul's from ''VideoGame/SoulCaliburVI'' where such things are abundant.

* FreakOut: PlayedForLaughs; when the guys were playing ''VideoGame/SoulCaliburVI'' and browsing through other peoples' [[CharacterCustomization custom characters]], they found a Maximilian. [[https://clips.twitch.tv/WonderfulTardyWrenGivePLZ Max runs from the room screaming]].

* FreakOut: PlayedForLaughs; when the guys were playing ''VideoGame/SoulCaliburVI'' and browsing through other peoples' [[CharacterCustomization custom characters]], they found a Maximilian. [[https://clips.twitch.tv/WonderfulTardyWrenGivePLZ Max's reaction...]]

* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: In the official ''VideoGame/SoulCaliburVI'' livestreams, Max's custom character Lady M. Aria (the undead blood hunter with [[BifurcatedWeapon a separable]] [[DoubleWeapon double sword]]) is [[BlatantLies totally an original character]] and has absolutely nothing to do with [[VideoGame/{{Bloodborne}} any popular video games]] out there. The same goes for Kenny's custom character, [[Webcomic/OnePunchMan Justice Rider]].

* FantasticRacism: PlayedForLaughs, with Max and the guys displaying a comedic hatred for Argonians, the LizardFolk from the ''[[Franchise/TheElderScrolls Elder Scrolls]]'' games.

* ButtMonkey: Steve. "Pulling a Steve" has become a phrase on the stream for messing up badly. And he will never live down his love for [[Franchise/MortalKombat Sheeva.]] It's all in good fun though.

* ''Videogame/CallOfDutyBlackOps2''

** Creator/TeamFourStar are also fans of Max (though during the ''VideoGame/DragonBallFighterz'' open beta, they jokingly claimed that he was ducking them). In turn, Max confirmed that he'd been watching ''WebVideo/DragonBallZAbridged'' in order to get up to speed on ''DBZ'' before ''[=FighterZ=]'' comes out. It helps that both groups are friends with [[WebVideo/TwoBestFriendsPlay Matt McMuscles]].

* HalloweenCosplay: In a Mario Party 8 playthrough, [[Film/TheBigLebowski Max is dressed as Jeff Lebowski, Simmons as Walter Sobchak]], [[Film/LiloAndStitch Jessica as Stitch]] and [[VideoGame/KingOfFighters Steve as K]]. Oh, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking Benny is a lobster]].
