The only subversion is Monotaro appearing on an achievement for clearing Chapter 5 (where none of the Monokubs die) instead of alongside Monophanie in an achievement for completing Chapter 4.

* New players are likely to get suspicious when Sayaka, the ImpliedLoveInterest, has her report card completely filled out after only two interactions, with some ports even granting an achievement when it happens. Sure enough, she's the first victim and dies before the first Class Trial. The same can be said for the two other characters who also don't survive the first chapter, but the game doesn't encourage you to spend time with them like with Sayaka. Later games would rectify this issue by giving every character five Free Time Events, even if they die too early for you to see all of them in a normal playthrough.

Considering you may expect it even more following Fuyuhiko's example, this is bound to be even more obvious spoiler that she will survive at least until Chapter 3, making it also easy to figure out she's just a RedHerring when she's suspected during the Class Trial.
** Furthermore, with her Free Time Events being initially locked (excluding when playing as Kaede) potentially reminding you of Fuyuhiko's situation, this might make some expect her to survive the killing game, just like he did.

* Once again, Steam trading cards. While the survivors get theirs with their love interests (whether one-sided or not), most of the remaining cards are killer-victim duos, including the true culprit behind Rantaro's murder. The only other card to avert this is Keebo and Kokichi's. As such, it's not as obvious, but you're bound to catch on pretty quickly and start suspecting other cards of following this trend.

* Unlike the previous games, now you manually vote on who the culprit is at the end of the class trial. You don't have to actually vote for the culprit because everyone else will do so, but you do need to vote for ''somebody'' or you get a game over. The significance of this comes at the very end of the final case, where the remaining survivors perform a suicide pact by all refusing to vote for hope or despair.
* In the first chapter, Kaede can't get more than two Free Time events from any character, because the game intends you to collect all of them with Shuichi instead.
* On a less "spoiler" note and more "capable of being figured out by a perceptive player", you can get the sheet music and metronome presents from the [=MonoMono=] Machine, which would obviously be best appreciated only by Kaede as a recipient. There is also the "Gun of Man's Passion," which like the items "A Man's Fantasy" and "Man's Nut" in the first two games, unlocks a hidden {{fanservice}} scene of spying on girls bathing, which makes much more sense for a male protagonist.
* Perceptive players will also notice that during a character's second Free Time Event, they will speak a fully voiced line or two near the end, something only reserved for final Free Time Events in ''Goodbye Despair''.
* You can find hidden Monokumas as Kaede, but unlike the previous game there's no display rack for them in her room. The rack is in Shuichi's room.
* In previous games, your Influence Gauge emptying would result in all the survivors voting the PlayerCharacter guilty, which, since said individual isn't the culprit, would result in Monokuma declaring that everyone besides the blackened will be executed. This time, however, the game over sequence cuts off just before the votes are cast. This is most likely because in the first trial, [[DecoyProtagonist Kaede]] is considered the culprit (as the person who takes the fall for the mastermind's crime), so executing her would be the correct decision.

* If you've been collecting all of the Hidden Monokumas, you may have noticed that there's always one in the victim's cottage (or motel room in Chapter 3's case), which you usually can't enter during that chapter until the investigation. However, in Chapter 4, you can explore all of the bedrooms in the Funhouse before they even get assigned to the students, and determine that whoever ends up with the room with the Monokuma in it will be the victim of that chapter.

The fact that the report card extents past the usual ending point also suggests that Toko lives longer than most characters, and sure enough, she survives the entire game.
* The Steam trading cards are a bit weird about this — specifically the "Ultimate Heroes" and "Ultimate Heroines" full-size card images. The "Heroes" one includes a picture of Leon in considerable distress, which could be seen as a hint towards his death, though with no context. However, it also includes two characters (Kenshiro and Santa Shikiba) who aren't actually in the game at all. Meanwhile, the "Heroines" picture includes some pretty big spoilers, showing both Mukuro (as herself) and the real Junko; however, it also includes Chihiro among the girls. It's quite possible that the elements were chosen specifically to throw people off as to which spoilers were real.
