In the language of flowers, blue roses can mean, among other things, LoveAtFirstSight, an unattainable dream, and unrequited/impossible love. * While it's more on Akechi's part, his Confidant is still ''oozing'' with it, what with all the {{Foil}} tropes going on between them and the fact that [[spoiler:his confidant is automatic and often ranks up at important plot points]]. It has gotten to the point that some people joked that Joker/Akechi is the OfficialCouple of the game.

** There are at least three occasions where Joker can offer to strip for Yusuke (for art reasons), or suggest that Yusuke take off his clothes (because of how hot it is in summer). In all instances, Yusuke responds by saying what a brilliant idea he thinks it is before remembering that it'd probably be illegal - ''that'' is how enthusiastic he is over it. For the former, he even starts intensely demanding that the protagonist immediately strip and "bare it all" before remembering that ''[[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments they're in a church.]]'' Furthermore, all instances give maximum affinity points towards Yusuke. During the third time this is brought up, it's during an outing with Hifumi in Akihabara, and Hifumi even starts questioning if something happened between the two.

* During the run of the third stage play, one of the ad-libbed skits where the Phantom Thieves decides Haru's CodeName has everyone asking Haru to change her last name to theirs, essentially proposing to her. Every single one of the Phantom Thieves join, including the girls.

** The third chapter cover of the spinoff ''Mission Mementos'' manga has Makoto’s gloved hands all over Haru’s face, with Haru gripping the former's wrist while wearing a seductive "come-hither" look.

** When Joker is [[spoiler:trapped in Takuto's LotusEaterMachine, his greatest desire is seeing Akechi again after the latter's ambiguous death/arrest. Takuto actually calls Akechi of the dream world a "hostage" because if Joker and the Phantom Thieves defeat him (Takuto), Akechi will just go back to being dead.
