* In "Gethsemane," after having been told his quest is a lie and losing his proof of alien existence, the cherry on top is that those conspirators behind the aforementioned devastations gave Scully her terminal cancer only so he'd believe the lies they fed to him. The way they order those revelations, one could assume Scully's ailment was the tipping point of his suicidal thoughts.

* Mulder's speech to Scully in the hallway of his apartment building in "Fight the Future", reassuring her that he has always appreciated her and that he needs her.

*** Borders on a [[TearJerker Tear Jerker]] with Scully's theme playing.

** During their game of [[{{RussianRoulette}} Russian Roulette]], Scully loses her cool and shouts at Modell after Mulder pulls the gun on himself and pulls the trigger.
** Once Modell forces Mulder to point the gun at Scully, he's clearly [[{{HeroicWillpower}} fighting harder]] to [[{{FightingFromTheInside}} resist Modell's influence.]] He's able to tell her, though just barely, to run. This gives Scully enough time to pull the fire alarm and break Modell's concentration. Mulder wastes no time repeatedly firing his still-loaded gun in rage at the man until the gun is out of bullets and he finally calms down.
** Last but not least, Mulder and Scully's quiet talk about Modell being a [[HeightAngst little man]] who just wanted to feel big for one time in his life. Scully subtly takes Mulder's hand for a moment to comfort him before leaving the room.
* Mrs. Scully defends Mulder from Scully, who has been given paranoia, induced by subliminal messages, in "Wetwired". The show-down between Mulder and Scully was amazing if painful to watch. Mulder's absolute trust in Scully, even tough he saw what other victims did and his strong wish to help her... It is so much like them. Mrs. Scully's support and trust feel great.

** During their game of Russian Roulette, Scully loses her cool and shouts at Modell after Mulder pulls the gun on himself and pulls the trigger.

* Mulder surprises Scully with a celebration of her birthday at a bar in "Tempus Fugit". Scully is moved because he never remembered her birthday. Mulder tries to belittle it by claiming that this is how he likes to celebrate it -- every four years because then it's like dog years. It's all very sweet with a little strawberry cupcake or ice cream with a sparkler, the happy birthday song by the waiters and a little present which is a gold Apollo 11 key chain. It's also a bit of a tear-jerker because [[YourDaysAreNumbered it happened after Scully had been diagnosed with cancer]].

* In "Mulder and Scully Meet The WereMonster", Mulder is going through a mid-life crisis of faith that all his monster-hunting have turned out to be fakes or easily provable mundane acts. At the end of the episode, when he shakes hand goodbye with Guy - a hapless lizard monster cursed with a human bite - Mulder watches Guy's transformation back to lizard and has his faith restored.

* Mulder and Scully having an impromptu slow-dance at the very end of the "The Post-Modern Prometheus". That episode itself was something of a Moment of Awesome for the season or series which earned it seven Emmy nominations and a parade of rave reviews enhances the good feeling. Creator/DavidDuchovny would go on to say that whatever came after, for him, that one moment would always remain his favorite.

* Something implied but never directly touched upon during Scully's abduction arc is in the interesting friendship Maggie and Mulder form during this time; it's implied that they supported each other through it. Between "Acension" and "One Breath" Maggie goes from calling him "Agent Mulder" to "Fox", which almost no one calls him. He is there when Maggie views the headstone she ordered for Dana, and all through the horrible news in "One Breath". She even tells Mulder that he is welcome to sit with her and Melissa after they take Scully off of life support. She also calls him from the hospital when she's found, and either she or Melissa called him later in the episode to tell him that she had come out of her coma. This connection comes up a couple more times in the series, most notably in the episode "Wetwired".

* Maggie Scully and Mulder have a heartwarming moment in "Acension". When Mulder tries to give Maggie Dana's cross necklace, the only thing he found of her at the abduction site, she promptly hands it back to him. She shows her support and faith in Mulder not just as an investigator, but as her daughter's partner and someone who cares about her.
