** It could have also been muscle memory, which is a form of procedural memory. People with brain damage such as the famous patient, Henry Molaison, was still able to complete certain tasks despite significant impairment to other brain functions resulting in severe anterograde amnesia. Penguins are naturally good swimmers, so Skipper would have still been able to swim even if he didn't know how, the same way a person can still walk even if he doesn't know the precise mechanics behind it. For all his smarts, Dr. Blowhole has shown himself to be something of a blowhard, so he probably doesn't know everything despite what he says.

** Rico's quite often implied to be near completely insane. He's a merciless pyromaniac who if not kept under control could destroy the whole zoo, skipper even refers to him having "Devil Made Psychosis" at one point, so any irregularities in his personality are probably just an example of that.

** It's not being taken out of the zoo that makes her go phsyco, it's being in a wide open unfenced place. She only goes nuts when she was in the park because there's so much space there. In The Lost Treasure of the Golden Squirrel she was in tunnels, around buldings, surrounded by piles of gold, and not in particularly open places. In Work Order again, when she was in the fake zoo it was a closed space. If she was outside the zoo after they took it down it could be just from shock at their plan, or already being calm out there, since it usually seems to happen pretty quick.

* In "Tagged" Skipper makes Rico barf up a hacksaw to get the ankle tags off their ankles, Private asks how long it will take to saw through the bracelet, and Skipper says "Bracelet? I was just going to saw off my foot. Maybe you're onto something private." then Kowalski says trying to cut through it would sound off the alarm. If he's so ok with it why didn't Skipper at least bring up trying to saw through his foot again?

* Why did they need to change Kowalski's and Private's voice actors for the show? Replacing Sacha Baron Cohen and Cedric the Entertainer I can understand, but the original [=VAs=] were Creator/DreamWorks staff anyway. Not that I have a problem with the replacements (JeffBennett is made of win), but it was just an interesting change.
** My guess would be because the two who voiced Kowalski and Private were career animators who, unlike Tom [=McGrath=] (Skipper), were not involved in creating the show, they likely wanted to work on other projects in their field without being constantly needed for voice work as major characters (with the most lines, no less) of a TV show. In other words, they wanted to be free to work in their field instead of doing voice work on a show they don't animate for. So the studio just hired two career voice actors for the roles. And I agree, JeffBennett's 1950s sounding voice was made for the role of Kowalski.

** The opening animation-sequence seems to imply that the lemurs were shipped to the zoo from Madagascar (or Africa in the sequel). Not only that, but there is a gag in one episode where a radio broadcast mentions a "little old lady beating up a lion" indicating that the movie is canon to the series. "The All Nighter Before Christmas" had a ContinuityNod to Madagascar Merry Madagascar as well.

* It really bugs me how much of a sexist Skipper is. He has said sexist things on multiple occasions, including the fact that once he insinuated that females were no good at commando operations! Why would they put a character with that much obvious sexism in a childrens cartoon? (even if I use the word "children" loosely) What would be the point?
** It really bugged me when they mashed the ResetButton when Skipper was thought to be a girl. A Badass (apparently chain smoking) female leader would have been a nice change of pace. Que sera sera.
** Well, he's also implied to be dead wrong about said sexism, which may be why they can get away with it.
*** Commencing Female!Skipper fanfic in 3... 2...
** Skipper is an AffectionateParody of the overly-macho war hero characters from the movies and TV. His "sexist" attitude comes from his naive idea that only guys can be "tough and badass" whereas every female is a DamselInDistress.
* What bugs me about the series is the sloppiness for writing and graphic design. New York and the Central Park Zoo looks very generic in comparision to the movie and the Elephant is the worst looking Elephant I've ever seen animated! Now for writing, who would be retarded enough to keep tropical animals during a very cold winter!? No one cares if animals are lurking around the Zoo in daytime and at night?
** Well, it IS a cartoon...and I think the animation looks fine.
** It's been implied numerous times that Alice doesn't really care about how she does her job.
** Keep in mind that the series is NOT going to have the same budget as the movies. Let me put it another way, a single ten-minute TomAndJerry short was made on roughly the same budget as an entire half-hour episode as ScoobyDoo. Notice the change in animation quality?
*** The animation (the movement) itself is fine. The problem is that most of the new character designs (especially the human ones) are really bad, which has nothing to do with the budget.

* Something that bugs me is what seems to bug me about a lot of kids' shows nowadays: why is it that fans claim to see so much Ho Yay that may or may not be there? I don't see anything "gay" about King Julien; yeah, he parties and is flamboyant, but I see no evidence that that means he's into dudes, personally. Not that I have anything against LGBT people Bi The Way (obviously), but can somebody please explain it better at least? Otherwise, remember, even Freud said sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
** "Kaboom and Kabust" has Ho Yay written all over it — it very blatantly ships Rico/Julien, with Julien giving Rico bedroom eyes, each hugging the other and a rather blatant FallingInLoveMontage. Also, considering that Julien once literally said he had a GirlfriendInCanada, which according to this very wiki is "a convenient way to imply that a character is in the closet."
*** What bugs me about "Kaboom and Kabust" is how people read so much into it. I'm not saying either Julien or Rico isn't gay, but they most certainly are not into each other. Isn't it obvious that Julien is only using Rico to have fun? And it should be even more obvious that Rico was only staying with Julien because he loves blowing things up so much and Julien let him do that. The montage was just a parody of falling-in-love montages.
*** He says he has a girlfriend because on TV all the cool guys have girlfriends. So to him people would think he's lame if he didn't have one.
* I wish there was a female penguin. I personally can't believe that any of the penguins are secretly female. It just bugs me they didn't take the opportunity to add a transfer female.
** I agree. And Skipper could have maintained his sexist attitude if he'd treated the transfer as 'one of the men'. The trouble with acknowledging one of the penguins is secretly female is that they ALL have AmbiguouslyGay moments. Whoever was the female would mean that all their AmbiguouslyGay moments are slip-ups, yet they fake masculinity so well (none of them know it) that it's hard to imagine any of those moments being slip-ups.
* The fact that all the animals have human teeth is decidedly UncannyValley. Otters just don't look right without fangs.
** Well not all the animals, the penguins don't have any teeth ("The dentist!? Ahh!" "But we don't have teeth") and Marlene does have fangs when she goes nuts if it makes you feel any better.

** I guess that was done intentionally, for comedic effect and to show how far that critic lady from reality.

* Skilene shippers bug me. I mean, just because they share most of the screen time doesn't mean they're a couple. At best, they'd be content to be just friends. Just mentioning to them that you're a Skilene hater, and they tell you to piss off. Any comments?
** Welcome to the wonderful world of fandom. Just be glad that phrasing your choice in pairings a little better - maybe not using the word hate - would save you a lot of grief, as opposed to other fandoms where merely breathing the first syllable of a pairing that is het might get you violently excommunicated. Ignore the people who do the flaming, and try to be civil to the polite ones even if you don't share their views; just because you don't see Skilene doesn't mean others can't, while the same of course goes for pairings you support and they don't see evidence for.

* What I don't get is that Rico has the most AmbiguouslyGay moments (because it's funny for the DumbMuscle to maybe be gay) with moments like the mating calls, and being asked to groom Skipper, and getting accidentally close to the other guys in falls. This could also suggest HE is actually the SHE. But he ALSO has Miss Perky, whom he loves very much. That I don't get. Any FridgeLogic or FridgeBrilliance to help explain that?
