The room contains only one bed, and the best the hotel can provide for the other three is a sleeping bag, an army cot, and a ''hammock''. They draw straws to see who gets the bed, and while Ethel wins, Fred raises such a stink that she gives in and takes the sleeping bag instead. (At this point, Fred grumbles, "If Hawaii wants to be a state, they'd better make sure they have enough beds to go around first!") ** The aftermath scene counts too. Lucy is interrogated by a customs officer (played by Frank Nelson), but Ricky has a photo op that's taking place at the same time. When his band goes to play a welcome home number, none of their instruments make a sound. It turns out Lucy shoved the remaining cheese in all their instruments. Lucy remarked that the piccolo was the hardest to do that to. Ricky looks like he's going to chew her out at first but instead he just starts laughing at how ridiculous this situation is.

** Ricky has several waiting room shenanigans courtesy of deciding to get ready for his show while at the hospital. He steps out in heavy makeup for a voodoo-themed number and scares the crap out of Fred and a nurse. He's still wearing the makeup when returning to the hospital after getting the call and nearly gets taken to an asylum.

** For the record, Lucy meant a mink stole. Hell, the entire scene where she tried to get Ethel to guess that by miming it (since Ricky prohibited her from speaking about it) was pretty funny.

It's at this point that Ethel finally notices the antics behind her and struggles to finish her song.
