* What is Herc's first instinct upon the giant stone statue of Zeus towering above him, coming to life and ''directly reaching towards him''? Scream at the top of his lungs, that's what. * Throughout the film, Hercules (or Herc) is portrayed as powerful, strong, and heroic, but suffers from low self-esteem, anxiety, and overall clumsiness due to his status as a super-strong demigod. His clumsiness was a bigger issue when he was a wide-eyed, gawky and scrawny teenager because of not having control of his godly strength, his lack of coordination and tendency to accidentally break things or cause destruction. Like most teenagers, Hercules was also wide-eyed, shy and timid, having a tendency to stutter or stammer when he speaks, jaw dropped, fidget with his hands, flinch when frightened, and stand or stagger in a pigeon-toed stance. He was a courageous youth but clumsy and inept, where even if he accidentally slips or trips on his too-big feet, losing his balance, he ended up humiliating himself in blunders or goes about inadvertently destroying things. Hercules eventually gains more confidence in himself over the series.
** He usually yells "Whoa!" whenever he falls, trips, or is flipped into the air.
** He also says "Uh, no," when someone asks him a question.

** The final test Phil gives Hercules consists of blades, spikes, a stone fist, and two sharks that make up an obstacle course, ending with the doll and a ring of fire. Now older and brawnier, Herc completes the obstacle course and rescues the doll.
* Despite completing his hero training, Hercules does get arrogant, swaggering, puffing out his chest, and being overconfident. Phil does berate Hercules for the sloppy rookie mistakes he made in the fight with the centaur Nessus, such as being distracted and losing his sword, but Hercules scoffs and pays him little attention, since he did win after a couple of disastrous missteps. However, he does make similar clumsy mistakes with the Hydra, such as losing his sword in battle.

* Upon arriving to the city of Thebes, Hercules shyly approaches a group of unhappy citizens and announced that he was the hero for them. The townsfolk are skeptical, their faces lined with fatigue, frowning and glaring at him. After Phil nudges Hercules, who plunges ahead with his heroic stance, the Thebans then laugh at their "hero" given his lack of experience. Phil being recognized as the "goat man" and his attacking the Fat Theban was particularly funny.

** Thinking he freed two trapped boys, Hercules unintentionally releases the Hydra from its cave. The mere sight of the giant serpentlike monster was frightening, as it was much larger than Herc's first monster Nessus (who was already bigger than him) as well as having a long neck, scaly skin and sharp fangs. Phil ran for cover while Herc staggered forward, and even the crowd of Thebans were screaming in fear of the towering creature.
** The deep canyon where the events occur is revealed to be stadium-like cliffs, where the citizens of Thebes stand there like an audience watching Herc, sword drawn, bravely facing this monster with just his sword and his wits.

Herc's first instinct upon the giant stone statue of Zeus towering above him, coming to life and ''directly reaching towards him''? Scream at the top of his lungs and running away, lungs, although in Herc's defense, that's probably how any '''normal''' person would react in such a situation. The scrawny teenager tries running away and crashes into a candlestand before being picked up in the great god's massive hands. The only other time Hercules became frightened enough to scream or run away was during his battle the Hydra.
Hydra, ironically after completing his training as a brawny hero.

Despite completing his hero training, Hercules does get arrogant, swaggering, puffing out his chest, and being overconfident. Phil does berate Hercules for the sloppy rookie mistakes he made in the fight with the centaur Nessus, such as being distracted and losing his sword, but Hercules scoffs and pays him little attention, since he did win after a couple of disastrous missteps. * Throughout the film, Hercules is portrayed as powerful, strong, and heroic, but suffers from low self-esteem, anxiety, and overall clumsiness due to his status as a super-strong demigod. His clumsiness was a bigger issue when he was a wide-eyed, gawky and scrawny teenager because of not having control of his godly strength, his lack of coordination and tendency to accidentally break things or cause destruction. Like most teenagers, Hercules was also wide-eyed, shy and timid, having a tendency to stammer when he speaks, fidget with his hands, flinch when frightened, and stand or stagger in a pigeon-toed stance. He was a courageous youth but clumsy and inept, where even if he accidentally slips or trips on his too-big feet, losing his balance, he ended up humiliating himself in blunders or goes about inadvertently destroying things. He eventually gains more confidence in himself over the series.
** What's Herc's first instinct upon the giant stone statue of Zeus coming to life and ''directly reaching towards him''? Scream at the top of his lungs and running away, although in Herc's defense, that's probably how any '''normal''' person would react in such a situation. The only other time Hercules became frightened enough to scream or run away was during his battle the Hydra.
** Despite completing his hero training, Hercules does get arrogant, swaggering, puffing out his chest, and being overconfident. Phil does berate Hercules for the sloppy rookie mistakes he made in the fight with the centaur Nessus, such as being distracted and losing his sword, but Hercules scoffs and pays him little attention, since he did win after a couple of disastrous missteps. However, he does make similar mistakes with the Hydra, such as losing his sword in battle.
* The brave, heroic title character that just awesomely KO'd a centaur that was more than quadruple his size (which is ''really'' saying something) being reduced to a stuttering, {{Adorkable}} {{Shrinking Violet}} when he first tries talking to Meg.

* Having cut his way out from inside the Hydra, Hercules is covered with green slime. Swaying on his clumsy feet, Hercules tries to sheath his sword, only to drop it on the ground, before he himself collapses. Looking at Phil, who asks how many horns he see, a dizzy Herc sees triple and his answer is "Six?"
