* The antagonists in Legend Mode all use Darkness as their primary element - Cia, Ganondorf[[labelnote:*]]unless you use the Trident[[/labelnote]], Zant, Ghirahim, and Wizzro - except for Volga, who uses Fire. As we see in Cia's Tale, he's not actually evil; he just wants to be left alone, and is only fighting on her side due to being overpowered and brainwashed.

* The weapons used by the characters channel different elements: Fire, Water, Lightning, Darkness, and Light. Oftentimes the selected elements are obvious (for example, the Master Sword using Light), but sometimes it's more subtle:
** Link's Great Fairy is Water. More often than not, Great Fairies are found in Fairy Fountains, which are indeed filled with water.
** Agitha's Parasol is Light. She's the only ''Twilight Princess'' rep to not be from the Twilight Realm, and the other three all have Darkness as their element. Naturally she'd have the opposite.
** Linkle's Boots are Lightning. The boots make her go fast. You could say they make her ''lightning fast.''
** Toon Link's Sand Wand is Fire. It creates a train, or rather, a ''steam'' engine.
** Young Link's Mask is Darkness. He draws on the Fierce Deity Mask for his power, an item that is stated in its home game to have dark power; Link just uses it for good.
** Tingle's Balloon is Fire. Aside from the fact that he uses a lot of bombs, it could also be a reference to a ''hot air balloon.''
** Ravio's Rental Hammer is Darkness. Ravio isn't evil, but he comes from Lorule, the opposite of the light-filled Hyrule. He's also Lorule's version of Link, whose primary weapon here is of the Light element.

* Link's AcquiredSituationalNarcissism at the midgame climax has been argued to be an AssPull by some, but in-context, it does make sense: this Link is just a gifted soldier in the Hyrulean Army all his life. Suddenly, he saves his commanding officer and has a fragment of the gods' greatest treasure in his hand. He's immediately promoted to a commander of the army equal to said superior, the Princess takes a personal interest in him, the enemy is obsessed with him, and to top it all off, he's meant to be the chosen wielder of the most powerful weapon on earth. It's hardly unusual he'd get a big head, he became possibly the most important person alive practically overnight!

He also turns the tide in massive battles by himself, usually being praised by his ruler and/or superior and other gifted warriors for doing so, all before getting that powerful weapon. It's hardly unusual he'd get a big head, he became possibly the most important person alive practically overnight!

* A case of GameplayAndStoryIntegration about Ganondorf's competence: normally, when fought, he is far weaker than how he is as the player character, except if he has a red aura. There is a reason for this story wise: Playable Ganondorf has his full soul and thus power, while he as an enemy is always weakened for one reason or another. The only time his base form can be fought with his full power is in the final battle with him if you don't take Hyrule Castle, and there not only does he put up a ''very'' good fight, but can electrocute you from the other side of the map as well.

** Armies of Ruin: "You haven't beaten me, you've merely hidden behind your shields." The game doesn't let you get Volga to lower than 50% health before the cutscene and his immediate flight, and Link's invocation of the Triforce of Courage does seem to be a barrier against his fire breath. You haven't ''beaten'' him;
** Sorceress of the Valley: "I was careless." No accusations towards the Hyrulean Forces; he owns up to his failure and resolves not to make the same mistake again.
** Land in the Sky: "I would have beaten you if not for the sky lord's interference." He is ''absolutely right'': try and take him on without getting the Great Fairy to back Levias up, and he keeps healing when he gets in the 30% range, even if you've got [[InfinityPlusOneSword the Master Sword with Evil's Bane and Exorcism unlocked]].

Link's forced to hide behind Impa to avoid dying mid-fight, and his invocation of the Triforce of Courage does seem to be a barrier against his Volga's fire breath. You He chooses to leave in disgust, so you actually haven't ''beaten'' him;
him.
** Sorceress of the Valley: "I was careless." No accusations towards the Hyrulean Forces; he owns up to his failure of overconfidence (he effectively charges in alone against the enemy army) and resolves not to make the same mistake again.
again. Sure enough, he never commits the same mistake and only advances when backed up by his forces.

Volga will crush you here, and you absolutely have to cheat in order to not lose.

* Time for an Adventure Mode entry. On the Twilight Map, you have several items exclusive to Twilight Princess, such as Water Bombs, Fishing Rods, Spinners, and even the Hookshot is redesigned to look like an 8-bit Clawshot. However, among these are the Digging Mitts, which weren't even in that game. This seems out of place, until you remember that Twilight Princess had several areas where Wolf Link had to dig to find a hidden grotto in that game. And none of your characters are wolves, so...
* Linkle's Boots in the ''Link's Awakening'' DLC turn her moveset into a semi-clone of Link's Hylian Sword moveset; her basic combo is a sequence of increasingly flashier swings ending with a flip, her [=C1=] is a quick launcher, her [=C3=] is a leaping spin, she can fire off three basic attacks in midair, and her Special Attack is a wide-arc charge. But there are still distinct differences; her [=C2=] propels her forward instead of launching a projectile, her basic combo is slightly more roundhouse than Link's, and there are more than a few Cuccos involved. What is Linkle's whole point? She's not the legendary hero, but she's a heroine in her own right. The Boots get her closer to being like the Hero, but still keep her distinct in her own right.
* Ravio's Rental Hammer moveset uses a lot of the weapon types that he would rent out in ''A Link Between Worlds''... but none of the same model designs. Most notable is his use of the Gale Boomerang, but his bow is a Sacred Bow, his bombs look like Super Bombs, and even his level 1 hammer looks a touch like the one from ''Legends''. Then you remember that Ravio is ''Link's Lorulean counterpart''... and Link is a LegacyCharacter. Who's to say Ravio is any different? Lorule was introduced in A Link Between Worlds, but it's entirely possible that ''this'' Ravio comes from the Lorulean equivalent of the era in which Hyrule Warriors takes place!
