** To Whannell's other psychological sci-fi horror film ''Film/{{Upgrade}}''. Both revolving around enigmatic tech moguls wreaking havoc on a trauma victim's life [[spoiler: with sinister experimental technology]].
** The plot, about an abusive boyfriend who torments his ex-girlfriend in order to drive her mad, works just as well as a remake of ''Film/{{Gaslight}}'' (albeit with a sci-fi twist) as it does a remake of ''The Invisible Man''.

Cecilia discovers evidence proving the invisibility suit is real and is about to reveal this to Emily at a restaurant, but Adrian slashes Emily's throat with a knife before she can learn that Cecilia is innocent, and Cecilia is framed for her murder.

* ArtisticLicensePharmacology: Cecilia passes out at a job interview from a high dose of diazepam (Valium). But if she had that much drug in her system she likely wouldn’t have been able to walk into that interview, at least not in a straight line.

After the doctor tells Cecelia about the diazepam she can still be heard talking on the other end before the audio fades. But it sounded like there was something she wanted to talk to Cecelia about. * ThePasswordIsAlwaysSwordfish: The alcove in Adrian's lab [[spoiler:which contains one of the operational suits]] uses the code 12-14-17, the date he met Cecilia. She sarcastically remarks "So romantic."

* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:It's kept vague exactly who was responsible for the whole ordeal. Tom got the DramaticUnmasking as the stalker and Adrian was found chained up in a basement, but Cecilia is certain this was AllAccordingToPlan for Adrian who set Tom up for the fall. As such, Tom may have just been a pawn for Adrian, and Adrian is killed by Cecilia using the second suit to make it appear to be suicide. It must be noted that it's all but stated that Adrian didn't tell the police about the suits and that if Tom wanted to profit he could just force Adrian to write another will and use the invisibility for convenience, and Cecilia's ordeal only benefits Adrian.]]

** Adrian's attack dog is named Zeus, and he wears a shock collar. Let that sink in: a dog named after the powerful Greek God of ''lightning'' is subject to a ''shock collar''.

''The Invisible Man'' is a 2020 [[SciFiHorror sci-fi]] {{horror}} film written and directed by Leigh Whannell (''Film/{{Saw}}'', ''Film/{{Upgrade}}''), [[InNameOnly based]] on [[Literature/TheInvisibleMan the novel of the same name]] by Creator/HGWells. It is the second film adaptation of the source material following Creator/JamesWhale's [[Film/TheInvisibleMan1933 1933 version]] starring Creator/ClaudeRains in the title role. [[note]]There have been [[AdaptationOverdosed many]] films and television series based on and/or inspired by ''The Invisible Man'' but this is the first theatrical release to officially adapt the book, albeit ''very'' loosely, since the 1933 iteration.[[/note]]

** RayOfHopeEnding: [[spoiler: If one looks closely, one notices Zeus is in her company, hinting that although Cecilia has lost a sister, she has at least one emotional support left in her life. In which case, someone who was just as much a victim of Adrian's cruelty as she was.]]

*** The dog (ignoring the DramaticIrony of the situation) establishes his character pretty well: he is named after the head of the Greek pantheon, and yet has a shock collar. Adrian shows strength, hurts those below him and reacts violently (and cruelly) to people not acting as he wants them to.

** [[Zeus is at the start of the film when he sees off Cecilia in her escape from Adrian. In one of the last shots, he leaves with Cecilia when she's free for good.]]

* GenreSavvy: Cecilia is impressively quick to figure out the classic ways of detecting an invisible person, including spreading fine powder (in this case, coffee grounds) over the floor and using a can of paint and a fire extinguisher to coat him in a visible substance. [[spoiler:Adrian also knows how to avoid detection, by washing off the paint Cecilia douses him in, or taking shelter under an SUV's tailgate when it's raining so that he doesn't get hit by raindrops that would reveal his presence.]]

** In the opening where Cecilia is escaping with Emily, Adrian rushes out of the darkness with almost unnatural speed and punches through a window without any suggestion that he's even slightly injured from the act, much like the T-800 in ''Film/TheTerminator''.
